Admittedly, if Archer is the gold standard by which all animated cop / spy / comedy shows (not that there are that many) are measured, then Pacific Heat falls short.

It is inferior in every way - writing, animation, voice acting, but there are enough mindless laughs and enough plot going on that it should not be rated as low as it has by the critics.

Other reviewers here are absolutely correct, I don't think the writers had any dreams of winning an Oscar but this show is hilarious. If you're looking for some slapstick comedy and if you like shows like Archer, BoJack etc, you will definitely like this show. The graphics could be better.

I enjoyed the pacing of the characters speaking, sometimes hard to keep up but it was just different and I enjoyed that. There is no plot but I'm sure that was purposeful. It was just a fun show, trying to actively look for things like this that's going to offend you is just not a good attitude. You don't have to like the show but to say it's racist is a bit of a stretch. Expand

Pacific Heat is trying to be another show and failing. To make matters worse, that show is Moonbeam City, which itself was trying to be Archer and failing. Against my better judgement, I forced my way through the first 3 episodes in the hope of finding something redeeming, but found only disappointment (mostly in myself).

Against my better judgement, I forced my way through the first 3 episodes in the hope of finding something redeeming, but found only disappointment (mostly in myself).

The plots are adequate, but nothing special - just your typical spec/ops tropes. The characters are bland and uninteresting and the dialogue jumps from 1 bad one-liner to another (mostly playing on the characters' apparent inability to understand whatever other characters are discussing, interspersed with poor attempts at Horatio Caine-esque puns, which the other characters Also fail to understand), all spoken in a deadpan manner.

The level of stupidity each of these characters manages to achieve in most scenes is tiresome enough on its own (we get it, they're dumb), but it is made all the more perplexing when these same characters suddenly display incredible intelligence on a particular subject, despite having shown none on that same subject just minutes earlier. These bursts of intelligence are not shown as "aha!" moments, but are merely sprinkled in normal conversation, with that particular character speaking the line as normal - as if taking on the role of "the only smart one" for those 20 seconds before going back to normal. All characters - the suddenly smart one and the listening idiots - seem to take this in stride. If that is the joke, it has very clearly been missed.

To make matters worse, each character - including ancillary ones - are written this way. It's as though this show's world only has one functioning brain and the characters merely take turns using it. Imagine Sealab 2021 without Dr Quinn's outrage at everyone else's stupidity - and all lines being read without any emotion whatsoever.

This could all be tolerated if the show had some sort of physical comedy (slapstick) or intense action scenes to showcase, but those are also sorely lacking. The infrequent action scenes are as devoid of excitement as the dialogue. There was one or two action scenes that showed promise, where a character would do something right and say something in that stereotypical "cop show action hero" tone, but the same character quickly returned to normal by doing and/or saying something stupid.

That pretty much sums up the whole show: It's Moonbeam City minus the 80's glitz, with characters torn from Sealab 2021 (excluding Dr Quinn), who all interact with poorly written dialogue, spoken in an almost entirely deadpan manner, that has little to no action (comedic or otherwise) to hold it up. It's not even "so bad it's good", it's just "bad". Don't waste your time, or at least don't say I didn't warn you.

It is a good mindless comedy show. People that are being negative are not wanting to watch mindless comedy. No it does not have a real plot. It is a bumbling special police group on cases. Don't watch for serious story or depth. It is just to unwind and laugh. Slapstick comedy and in that respect it delivers very well.

The hate for this show is unnfounded. It isn't amazing but it is brand new. I think people are forgetting just how low quality archer was when it started. It is a fine show.

I wanted to like this show going into it, but the characters are unmemorable, the voice acting is sub-par, and the comedic delivery is weak at best. I did give it at least a one because it cured my insomnia.

To put it very plainly, this show steals many different ideas from the show Archer. With that said, it isn't even a good knock-off of the show. You have characters that have no real value, with a cast that cannot seem to understand that no one can listen as fast as they talk. There is no emphasis put on any of the lines, making it appear as one big mess.

Production quality is poor. Even in HD the characters and backgrounds are hazy. Here's a sample of the dialogue:

    "lock and load"

"Yep, just remind what lock and load is again?"

    "arm our weapons"

    "ssssh"'

"Alright. You're the one who wanted us to lock and load"

Not sure what they were going for here, but it doesn't work. I watched the first two episodes and they were dull, unfunny and, at times, just plain stupid.

The main characters consist of your douchey wannabe wise cracking agent complete with nineties hair cut and the push over blonde who is supposed to be the smart one. The other two have darker complexions and only speak when the writers want to remind us of how dumb and inept they are in an attempt to be funny but the jokes always seem to miss the mark.

A cast of U likeable characters, poor animation style, and bad writing make this show very hard to be enjoyed by a broad audience. Not to mention another show from FX that seems to share uncanny similarities... I would have given this show a zero but because some effort was given to make it I think that would be unfair (poor taste can't be helped). Also, I think some people would enjoy it, so despite the horrible reviews from horrible wannabe critics like me, give it a shot and see for yourself.

Another review pointed out how all negative reviews are from folks who don't enjoy or don't know how to enjoy mindlessly funny humor. I am all for dumb humor... This show is simply, for me, a very hard pill to swallow.

LOL this is Netflix trying to make their own "Archer", and they're failing at it, miserably. Similar art style, similar halfwit characters, similar cocky nature to some of these halfwits. All it took was me seeing the thumbnail to realize this was a wannabe Archer, and after watching it, it becomes more apparent.

WORTH WATCHING FOR MINDLESS ENTERTAINMENT: The negative reviews are by SJW snowflakes who can't determine the difference between racism and stereotypical comedy. Blazing Saddles would melt their feeble minds. Is it an Archer rip off? Oh yeah. That doesn't always = bad. Once again, snowflakes don't understand that either. The show is really stupid humor and it seems exactly like something Mel Brooks would have written. It is TONS cleaner than Archer; in terms of cussing, innuendos and basically animated sex. Archer is funny; but this manages to do it without being R-Rated. It is stupid humor (and smart humor is there too), but don't let hypocrites call it racist or sexist, ESPECIALLY when Archer is the same or worse. The ONLY reason they don't decry that on Archer, is they "like" it more; as the hive mind mentality of SJWs is astonishingly real. Because, if it is widely accepted as popular, they wouldn't bat an eye at the supposed racism/sexism; but, since it isn't as popular they seem to have their sensitivity meters on overdrive. Once again, humor is being killed by winebags who don't enjoy a show; and instead of just saying they don't enjoy it, (most likely due to peer pressure and being slaves to what pop culture calls good/bad, they play that SJW card. Just like the Race Card if you don't like some popular show that features black people or agree Adele won on merit, not whiteness. SJWs are maddening; stop letting them poison your minds and think for YOURSELVES! Expand

Pacific Heat feels hollowed out and devoid of even the slightest measure of personality. Even the animation design feels completely apathetic and bare-bones, which might have been fine if the writing had elicited any emotion beyond boredom and one or two blips of offense.
