    Notice: There are no real spoilers for this season, but if you're behind on seasons be forewarned I will be mentioning the basic setup of this one, which may potentially surprise you.

    Been a fan of this show since day one. Unfortunately, the last season of New Girl is arguably its weakest.     Been a fan of this show since day one. Unfortunately, the last season of New Girl is arguably its weakest. The characters seem to be going through the motions and the plot points are recycled, including humorous romantic miscommunication and a THIRD male character dealing with absentee dad issues. I do applaud the decision to do a three-year time jump and the characters moving on with their lives. The show was about four adults living in the same apartment. It would strain credulity if they never moved out or met someone. Unfortunately, the writers just weren't able to come up with a lot for the characters to do. Also, the girl playing Schmidt and Cece's daughter isn't a good actress.

    I said this was a weaker season, not bad. There's still funny bits sprinkled throughout and Winston and Aly remain on point. The last two episodes are quite good. They retain the old feel of the show and are both hilarious and heartfelt.    … Expand

    New Girl has amiably chugged along, hitting a few divots along the way but never sliding too far or permanently downhill. It’s one of the most consistent comedies in recent memory, so much so that almost any episode could be dropped in to any season. And these final eight episodes (six of which were made available to critics) are just like all the rest, even as the season premiere, “About Three Years Later,” jumps forward in time.
