    Another medical show but this time we are supposed to like the boss. Not certain I do. Self destructive behavior is hard to watch for very long.

    Some potential, but I think the cancer issue needs to be resolved and fairly soon. Otherwise just kill him off and try for another pilot with a different plot.

    A group of us like New Amsterdam but we are fed up with the music played when characters are talking. Enough with the drums, horns etc. when there is dialogue going on. It is totally pointless and disturbing. After watching last episode we all decided, not to watch the show anymore as the music is pointless and you can't hear the characters speaking. ENOUGH!!!

    I enjoyed this show right up to the point when their bigoted producers decided to portray all cops as dumb white minority child hunters. The portrayal was so bigoted and twisted that I could barely finish the episode. I had hope some kind of balance would be restored but no such luck. Bigotry is bigotry. There is not an acceptable form or an acceptable group to be hated. Hollywood hasI enjoyed this show right up to the point when their bigoted producers decided to portray all cops as dumb white minority child hunters.     "How can I help?" is a phrase that more people should use in life. Ryan Eggold does a great job as the new medical director, and I love that his character genuinely wants to help and make a difference. I look forward to seeing how he and the rest of the cast do that each week.

    I disagree that this not a real life story that CAN and DOES happen in the OR, Hospitals everywhere and very true how things are in the real world...I worked in neonatal care for over 7 years and people who judge this series need to get w/the real world, Get a Clue and realize that things do happen just like this each and every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    New Amsterdam is a beautiful show full of hope and potential to be a great medical drama! The cast and characters are all great and very like able. The main phrase of the show is "How can I help you?" which is a question we should ask everyone. While many sad events are going on many end happy and give you hope that no matter how big the problem is there is always a solution.     Sometimes when i read the critic's revew i ask to my self if we just saw the same show... a medical is not supposed to be a reality filmed in or and to be frank the grey's anatomy (wich i love) that in every seasons find a new cure that will solve all unsovable problems???? like the liver multiplying ... did that seem actually real to the critics?? come on... is not the first time theSometimes when i read the critic's revew i ask to my self if we just saw the same show... a medical is not supposed to be a reality filmed in or and to be frank the grey's anatomy (wich i love) that in every seasons find a new cure that will solve all unsovable problems???? like the liver multiplying ... did that seem actually real to the critics?? come on... is not the first time the critic kills a show that will turn out a great success. why don't remember "the shannara chronicles"? at first the critic killed it, despised it. with the usual blind arrogance. the actors performances in new amsterdam are good, the lines are good too and it is never boring, good rithm, it goes fluid and nicely just like grey's anatomy. and i'm kind of glad that finally we skip all the open heart- open liver- openleg open head surgeries ... are usually the part i push the fast forward. i found this show good, very watchable, with the desire to see immediatly the next episode; perhaps it is not a masterpiece (some acting in my opinion is) but it is very very good... with all the idiot commedies going on for years and years , season after season with the praise of critics (!) please let us have a good, nice, show to watch .… Expand

    IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE SLEEPING YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR OR TAKE MEDICATION, "NEW AMSTERDAM" IS THERE FOR YOU, FREE OF CHARGE.

    I MUST ADMIT I HAD A CRUSH ON RYAN WHEN HE PLAYED TOM ON THE "BLACKLIST" BUT IT DISAPPEARED AFTER LISTENING TO THE CORNY LINES HE MUST SAY ON "NEW AMSTERDAM" THROUGH NO FAULT OF HIS OWN, WITH A RIDICULOUS STORYLINE.

    I ALSO MUST STATE FOR THE RECORD THAT I HAVE NEVER, EVER HAD A DOCTOR SERENADE ME AT BELLEVUE.

    OF COURSE, I AM WILLING TO LEAVE MY OPTIONS OPEN.

    IF SAG/AFTRA HAS OPEN DOOR NEXT YEAR, I SUGGEST THAT ALL THE ACTORS ON THE SERIES GO AND AUDITION.

    New Amsterdam is a great tv show.
    There is a great story that I can relate to socially, medically about everyday life.
    There is no profanity and nudity and I think this is a refreshing change.
    Please keep this show.

    This show reminds me a lot of Grey's Anatomy. However, it has gritty feel to it that makes it feel more real. The producers and directors are choosing topics that need to have light shed on them: racism, employing women of color, police brutality, putting people's needs above greed and profit, and nontraditional family structures. It even sheds light on the deteriorating effects of climate change and covers recent health scares like Ebola. In addition to all the topics, the cast is amazing. They have good chemistry with each other and really sell their roles and positions on matters.

    Based on the reviews I've read it appears the super conservative and blue lives matter people don't appreciate the show, but more shows like this need to be broadcast to educate and remove their narrow minded views from our diverse and culturally growing community.    … Expand

    New Amsterdam makes it clear this isn’t just going to be a regular medical drama. This is going to be a very, very dumb medical drama. ... The show’s stated intent--to be a medical fantasy about doctors actually helping people--is beautifully dumb, but at least it’s occasionally funny.

    New Amsterdam tends to rather tidily resolve all of its patient crises in these first two episodes. It also can get treacly at times, particularly when Coldplay’s “Fix You” hovers over the closing minutes of the premiere hour. The long-term diagnosis is iffy at best, with the main characters and their cases coming off as not that special or interesting.
