This is a memorable show from the scenario, actors, storyline, to the emotional trigger, social relevance, and music score. A pearl of adaptation and HBO in its best. If you open your world to television with subtitles, you will definitely enrich your life. My brilliant friend season 2 keeps up with the already perfect season 1. Much recommended!

Wonderful show. From the story, the writing, the scenery and the acting. Simply exquisite. Bad reviews are puzzling, can only assume it's for something ridiculous such as an aversion to subtitles.

If the first episode is any indication of how this season will play out it will be equally as good as the first

I should not like this show. I should have watched this and muttered 'period drama' to myself and walked away. But I'm so glad I didnt There is so much to admire here. Literally, everything combines to create a piece of artistic perfection. It draws me in without any big action sequences. It relies on subtlety and attention to detail. So good. Thankyou.

The dramas that play out range from the brutal to the more purely psychological, and all of them are compelling, not least of all thanks to the lead actresses’ stunning performances.

"My Brilliant Friend" has returned for a second season more affecting, in an alarming way, than the first, though in every way just as impressive in its penetrating portraiture of Elena (Margherita Mazzucco) and Lila (Gaia Girace), the friends at the center of this tale set in 1950s Naples, based on Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan novels.
