Notshared, you couldn’t be more wrong. The comic was an instant classic, I added it to my pull list when it first came out and it didn’t disappoint. Very popular too, from the get go which I believe this show is as well. All these haters with their agendas, what are you going to do? Haters gonna hate

10/10 is you are a middle school female. 8/10 for MCU adult followers

I can find no reviews mentioning what was in teh press, how Disney Marvel wanted more shows to attract women and young girls to the MCU. Given this mandate, Ms. Marvel is an exceptionally graceful, ethnically inclusive, creative and fun addition. Similar in tone, it's even better than the pretty excellent Kamala Khahn in the Avengers video game. Face it. She-Hulk and Ms Marvel will be a turn off to macho Marvel nerds. These two shows are not for most males. If you want intelligent, creative, inclusive shows for women and middle school girls, these shows are BOTH AMAZING. Almost all review applauds the production values, writing, directing, acting. I agree the Ms Marvel star is "luminous." Another stand-out in the first episode are the semi-animated cartoon drawings on paper, walls, outside, etc. Done to perfection--a LOT of work.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ms. Marvel brought to life one of the most underrated Marvel characters perfectly with a change to her powers that at first I wasn't sure about but ultimately grew to really like. Iman Vellani's performance as Kamala Khan is sheer perfection, she's perfectly embodies who Kamala is and what it's like to be a huge comic book and Marvel nerd and fan. Zenobia Shroff, Nimra Bucha, Mohan Kapur, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Anjali Bhimani, and Samina Ahmad gave great performances. The visual effects were outstanding, I loved how unique and beautiful they were visually. I loved all the the comic book style pop ups. The music was exceptional. An A+ series. Expand

Despite some doubts to start with, I've been impressed by the consistently high quality of the MCU TV Series that have formed most of Phase 4. Ironically, Covid may have benefitted the MCU; with TV shows being more viable than the big moviesDespite some doubts to start with, I've been impressed by the consistently high quality of the MCU TV Series that have formed most of Phase 4. Ironically, Covid may have benefitted the MCU; with TV shows being more viable than the big movies of previous phases, the story telling was allowed to change pace, becoming deeper at what would have been a very difficult point for the franchise anyway; the transition from the Avengers and the universally well known frontline characters to much less well known characters who may have struggled to carry the franchise forward if introduced through movies. Instead these characters have been able to develop at a more relaxed pace thanks to the TV format.
One of the other aspects of the TV shows is that none of them have really been alike; each has formed it's own unique part of phase 4, sometimes acting as a bridge, sometimes something completely new, but never the same.
This is certainly true of Ms Marvel, a well made origin story, benefitting from the TV show format that allows it space to breath, rather than the rush that has been traditional through much of the MCU. It introduces very different cultural aspects as one would expect of the comic book character, and appears to do a good job of representing an otherwise under-represented community within the genre (or indeed, not represented at all), whilst bringing everyone else along for the ride. Of course there will be a minority who fail to understand Stan Lee's vision for Marvel, but that's their own loss and one can only note that they probably enjoy the X-men comics/movies without a hint of self-awareness.
Acting is universally good, with the lead being absolutely outstanding; warm, funny, clever and believable, in fact very probably the most charismatic and well delivered new phase 4 character. Special effects are fine; not perhaps on the grand scale of other movies or shows in the series, but after the overload of effects experienced through the series it's a nice change to have something focussed more on character and plot.
On the subject of plot, the series builds gradually and logically, and although there are a few echoes of other teen genre TV shows, it all works well and feels quite natural. At the end there are a couple of nice intriguing twists/Easter eggs propelling the titular character into the forthcoming Marvels movie in a very different way, while building enough of a universe and supporting characters of it's own in a very Buffy-esque way to comfortably support further TV series.
Overall, a great pilot series of which I hope there's much more to come, not just the movie, which would really be a waste of the universe development so carefully laid out in the series.

Ms. Marvel is a nuanced, sophisticated treatment of a rapidly growing segment of American life, the culturally rich Muslim diaspora. Iman Vellani is absolutely brilliant as the lead, a struggling teenager full of zest and life, trying to find her place in the world at the intersection of religion and culture, fandom and rebellion. The rest of the supporting cast is perfect, portraying the interplay of complex dynamics in any typical family. The fight and chase scenes are thrilling and do not seem made for TV. The mechanics of Kamala’s powers are interesting to watch, especially her primarily defensive posture and utilization. The production designs are excellent and immersive, typical of New York and Karachi, with no pretense. The soundtrack and costumes are amazing, spot on. As many have said, the sensitive and nuanced portrayal of the savage partition period is much appreciated - this entire period of history has often been shown as a simple blood bath, with little focus on the actual pain of individuals torn apart. There is plenty of setup for what follows in movies and TV, but it's not often we get a series dedicated to a relatable teenager growing up in a complex world. Expand

I like the Khan family dynamic, actors and the show works better as sitcom. However as superhero show it is a bit boring or generic first, the story is weaker in the first half and there are some inconsistencies. Lets start at the beginning. I was surprised they chose Kamala Khan for a Marvel show. While I like her as character she has not the biggest fan base in comics but neither had the Guardians of the Galaxy so I gave the benefit of a doubt. Sadly the show did not convince most of the audience (or me completely). Like I said I would prefer it as family show aka sitcom. Here the show shines far more. The actors are excellent and I praise the whole cast. The Khan family and others are entertaining and relatable even from my different cultural background. Some issues seem to be universal. So I praise the whole cast for their performance. The story is a hit and miss. There are some things that feel a bit forced and inconsistency. It was still interesting enough to watch and it gets better in the later half. The action scenes are a bit weaker too. Especially the fight choreography is not top notch. While other say the special effects were awful I would mostly disagree. Overall this is a decent to good show I can see it being universally loved with some fixes. Beware the weaker beginning. Expand

Just saw the first episode and it was pretty good.
The characters were likable and charming. I especially liked Kamalas' parents.
I like the colorful aesthetic they are going for.
Not much really happens in the first episode other than setting up the characters and their relationship with each other. They also show you how she gets her powers and the events surrounding that. There were also a handful of moments where I laughed out loud.

I read some of the negative reviews on Metacritic afterward and realized that those people must be deranged. The show in no way deserved that amount of vitriol. They have such passionate hatred for anything that they think is "woke". It is enough that there is a Muslim female character and suddenly it is the worst thing in the world. I have been a Marvel fan for over 20 years. They have always been "woke". The X-Men were extremely diverse. I mean come on! They had an African Female as the leader, a Russian muscle dude, a canadian mass murderer, a disabled bald dude, a german blue goblin, a posh female brit who later was turned into a Japanese ninja. If this stuff makes you upset then you never were a fan of marvel.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ms Marvel is a series that takes its place among favorable superhero series. With a teenage heroine who discovers and uses her powers. Iman Vellani plays the role of Ms Marvel to perfection. I liked the story of this series. It makes a good introduction to the Marvels, "Girls Powers", soon to be released in cinemas. Expand

Iman Vellani is one of the best MCU characters now because the whole show does do a great job at fleshing her character out along with Vellani’s amazing performance. This show really shines bright when it’s showing us small character moments which is what episodes 1-3 and the second half of 6 were mostly focusing on. Knowing that she is gonna be in The Marvels next year is the only reason I really have any interest in that movie. The rest of the cast and characters that aren’t the villains are all pretty great and their interactions are great. The editing and filmmaking of episodes 1-3 is great as well. This show started out feeling like it had style to it. Episodes 4-6 get rid of that style and a lot of those great character interactions though. It honestly feels like this show was made by two different people. 1-3 feels like it’s made by passionate filmmakers while 4-the first half of 6 feels like it’s made by a committee. The villains here are garbage. They aren’t memorable, their plan and background are incredibly confusing and nonsensical and they don’t make any major impact on the show and are mostly written out by the end of episode 5. The action here is also not very good either. It’s way too choppy and doesn’t let anyone have a good sense of what is actually going on in the fight. The actual story of the series itself isn’t amazing either. I did say it started out strong but it kind of got muddled and confused by the end. If these characters and episodes 1-3 weren’t so good then this show would honestly be one of the weakest Marvel shows but as of now, it’s one of the better ones. If you want to see some interesting and very likable new characters then definitely check this out but don’t expect anything else in the show to be as good. Expand

The common criticism of the Marvel shows is that they need more time than the 6 episode format allows, but I'd have been happy had this ended far sooner than Ep 6. It was really, really, boring. It was essentially a programme about Kamala and her family - if thats what interests you then fair play, but I had zero interest in it. Ultimately, nothing really happened - there were massive amounts of time spent on things which were totally inconsequential.

Apart from all that, the acting wasn't particularly good, and the CGI was pretty poor in parts.

Kamala Khan is a much more interesting and complex character in the comics than what was seen in here. In fact this series felt like many other shows that came to nothing like Runaways and Cloak & Dagger with the only exception being that this character will have a bigger role to play with her appearance in 2023's The Marvels and how the season finale hinted that she will have something to do with the introduction of mutants, AKA the X-Men, into the MCU.

Beyond that, Ms. Marvel had some interesting cultural weight, but as an introduction to the character it felt excessive and mostly aimless.

I’m all about other people, ethnicities getting their due, but man do it in a good way so you can capture all the audiences and not just one portion of them. Missed opportunity for sure because this show could have been a gateway for people that aren’t Muslim or brown to learn about Pakistan culture, religion, the partition history that could have added superhero elements to it to make it interesting for westerners; but it was just there to be there and I just didn’t care. I understand that this one is likely aimed toward teenagers, but it honestly feels like a show for 10-year-olds. In most cases would be fine, but as a piece of an interconnected series of movies and is confirmed to be in the next Captain Marvel movie aiming it toward the general audience seems like a no-brainer to me. The character is uninteresting, undefined powers, and the show feels like a bad modern version of Freaks and Geeks. Now credit is due towards the style, I do enjoy the moving art and all of the visuals, the acting is fine, but the characters themselves especially the side characters like Bruno (had to look it up to even remember his name) are just really hard to connect with because they don't seem like believable people. I think the only time I felt emotion for a character is when I felt bad for Kamalas's father when he dressed up as The Hulk and was yelled at. The show has heart and good acting, but the problem is the marketing, the characters, and the tone. Expand

The rating of 4 is because the aesthetics of the show look charming, and the lead is likable, and apart from it being boring, nothing struck me as game breaking so far. We see.

I'm really shock there was little to no politics, that I remember at least. Like every other mcu disney plus show, this would've worked way better as a movie. A simple 2 hour film how hard is that, but you stupidly chose to stretch all theses terrible shows with nothing but boring bs that doesn't matter and is completely boring. You're really telling me you idiots couldn't cut out 1 hour of this boring crap. Wandavision is also crap but it still worked as a show and didn't have a simple movie plot that was streched out to oblivion. The only reason these shows exist is because you want people to stay subscribed to dplus for as long as possible and it's not even working so you might as well just stop. CG, not important to me. What makes a good show or movie in story and characters. Both of which are good in this show. There aren't any huge plot holes but I hate thqt they basically made kamla green lantern for no other reason than shes a woman and woman are best at everything and men suck. It's like god spilled a script and hastily put back the words in whatever order he thought would make sense. By far one of the weaker additions to the MCU. Not 'Thor 2' bad, but pretty close. I'd avoid this one unless you really, really wanna see a pakistani superhero. I was excited at first because I absolutely ADORED Moon Knight. I am enjoying the superheros of other cultures being introduced but they need to balance cultural exploration with the story of what we came to see.

The 2nd episode being 90% pakistani culture was a waste. It's interesting but I'm not watching an MCU movie to watch a wedding. One thing it did too positively though is illuminate the Partition. Was not aware that it was that bad. Definitely something I learned.

This is probably the first bit of MCU content in 14 years that I won't bother finishing. It feels like I'm being battered over the head with religious education, I don't particularly care if you're Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish or whatever else I've no interest in a comic book show that seems more interested in virtue signaling than telling a good story.

It seems well made, the cinematography is good, and I can't fault the acting but the story and pacing is terrible.

The writing is bad and the character development is almost nonexistent. If Disney would focus on writing a good story instead of all the virtue signaling and woke nonsense I would bet this would be a hit. There are universal values regardless of religion or ethnicity that draws people to stories. That's overcoming hardships, learning to be better, but none of it involves being preachy and talking down to people. It's disrespectful to its own universe. It's disrespectful to the previous heroes, it's disrespectful to her own culture, it's disrespectful to the American culture. It's just plain not good. I don't think people care that she's Pakistani or Muslim or anything like that. I think people are tired of being preached to and spoken down to. I think people are ready for Disney to just put out good stories again. Not white stories not male dominated or white dominated or none of that trash because no one really cares about that anyways. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn't really like this show at all. For six weeks I watched this show when a new episode released, and it really showed to me how Disney+ just needs to release the entire series in one go. This also doesn't feel that needed to watch if you're interested in the MCU, as nothing becomes important until the final episode. Most of this show is Kamala Khan getting used to being a superhero now that she has powers that completely **** on the original Ms. Marvel superpowers, as she now gets these glowing powers from a bangle. At the same time she's hunted by the Djinn (and oh no, her crush is one of them!) who want to use her power to take over the world or whatever. They get ruined on Episode 5 and then the main villain becomes, and I kid you not, Damage Control...yes, Damage Control. A villain that stands up to villains like THANOS, LOKI, The Mandarin, and much more! They do absolutely nothing of relevance and Kamala gets the win and then finally something important happens at the end with Kamala being teleported away or some **** and Captain Marvel coming in. Super weird ending to a super boring and forgettable series. I didn't like the story, nor did I like the forgettable soundtrack, but I have some things I liked. The actors are REALLY good, all of them play their role insanely well (Kamala's Parents are my favorite), and they play and depict Pakistani/Muslim heritage and traditions very well. I also liked some of the production, where at times Kamala will be texting someone but instead of showing a bland text screen, the texts appear on walls and LED lights and stuff, really nice minor stuff. However that doesn't take away from how much of a six-week & episode bore this series was. Definitely one of the worst Phase 4 shows yet. Expand

Completely milquetoast and devoid of soul; it's by no means terrible, it's just in no way good. A tepid waste of time, money, and (limited) talent.

The main conflict may look high stakes especially for a young person but on later reflection the issue could've easily been discussed between the two parties. By the end of the first episode, it looks exactly like any other marvel movie, with the same broad stroke CGI. It is too soon to pass judgement on the main actress' portrayal as the first episode is barely a intro to the show. In the end, I had both hopes and fears for Ms marvel, such as giving a tv show to a character younger then the MCU itself but that was outweighed by the Asian inspired music and appearance I was looking forward to. I wish Disney had the guts to give Ms marvel as well as their other tv shows and movies a distinctive feel and appearance. I'm just disappointed. Expand

On top of that the show has a Disney channel type feel to it where the humor seems like it was created in a boardroom as opposed to an actual comedian. The only thing the positive ratings seem to mention is that it’s very inclusive and gives something for young Pakistani people to see themselves in, but when that is made through replacing the macfuffin with a bangle and putting an ethnic theme over tired trends it rings hollow and annoying. I really enjoyed the character in the comics but the more she appears in other media the more tokenized she seems to become. Expand

The writing is bad and the character development is almost nonexistent. I welcome any of the Marcel characters but please be truthful to their origins and established lore. When you even mess with her abilities you are fundamentally missing the point! Also, the fact that there is almost only colored people when you portray the USA, and that is not the fact in the comics, you make a false character set in a false universe! Virtue signaling gets so obvious that it hurt immersion. I liked the character from the Marvel game, but this version is bad. What a missed opportunity Expand

I mean, she is a girl conflicted by her desire to be a superheroine and the desire to make her strict parents happy, but it doesn't seems like the latter is really of any importance to her, i mean i get the rebellious stage, but she doesn't even get punished by her parents when she disobey, she doesn't feel guilty at all when she crushed her car in the drive test or when she sneaked away, so much that the next night she goes to a party! ...so i guess her parents are not really strict by only nagging her and that there are no real consequences for her behaviour...which is a bit unrealistic to me for the context they wanted to put her in. Also, i don't like her power, i liked the original one, and the origins of how she got them feels underwhelming... Expand

I've seen better content written by high school sophomores. Another show solidifying that disney doesn't care about content quality. They greenlight any production, any script, any actors.
