Season 3 starts off frantically, after the events at the end of season 2 this should be no surprise. All the main characters have little to no control over what's happening at this point and the viewer is just along for the ride.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Season 3, Ep 1 was way to preachy, Sam Esmail making ton of money from capitalism through bashing capitalism on this show. Plus, ,the political overtone made me vomit. Hey, I loved this show when it first came out, seeing real life Linux applications and stealth night hacker missions but now we are going down the path of time travel? alternative realities? huh? Why.... such a good show but slowly turning into the elite preaching to the brainless mass, ironically through a TV show about going against the elite. Expand

This boring and self-important ripoff of Fight Club has failed to develop a personality. The acting is poor and overly stilted (and not just the protagonist, who is on the autism spectrum), the plot weak, and the general aesthetic something we had all hoped had died in the late '90s.

In any realistic portrayal he'd have been rocking back and forth in a looney bin by now. Look, some of the characters are very intriguing and many actors execute their craft well, which is why I continued past ep 6. The problem appears to be Sam, the showrunner. As many have noted before me, he's showing his rabid Lib colors this season and is most definitely bowing to his corporate masters. I defy you, yes, defy you to be interested in this show any further after watching the last scene of ep 10 - it's the middle finger to all of us. Expand

Easily the worst of the series thus far, season 3 is an utter mess. Like another reviewer said, at this point it's just a reheated microwave dinner version of Fight Club, and every bit as bland and fake as that implies. I guess at this point they're just going to keep pushing forward for 5 seasons of Elliot spending half his time hacking Evil Corp and the other half trying to un-hack it.

This hasn't just jumped the shark, it's done a triple backflip over the Sharknado. Season 2 flirted with descent into self-parody (any show that relies on big psychological twists is going to rapidly run out of plausible narrative room, see also M Night Shyamalan's career), but season 3 is just totally ridiculous. Someone please put this mess out of its misery!

Season 1 was excellent, but clearly a self-contained story that really should have been a miniseries. Season 2 was obviously flailing around looking for any excuse to keep the show going. I enjoyed the clever season 1. Season 2 got a bit complicated but there were some twist in the plot that caught my atention. Season 3 I got completely lost and the preach against capitalism started to get really annoying. I live in South america and this writers are taking for granted how lucky people in america are not to have socialist attemps all the time. Great desapointment.

This show has gotten so ridiculous they should do a crossover with Sherlock (another one that started good but turned into pathetic fan service), where the two main characters stare at each other and Elliot hallucinates committing an elaborate crime while Sherlock hallucinates solving it.

Having seen almost all of season 3, a few things have now become clear:

    1) President Trump is living in Sam Esmail's head rent-free. Almost every episode includes lame, obsessive attempts at throwing shade at him. LOL he's the President, Esmail, he doesn't care about you or your stupid little show (which is nowhere near as popular as his show was), get over yourself!

    2) The irony is that this was originally a show about striking out at the government/corporate Establishment, and that's exactly what Trump did and is doing. But of course now the show is about trying to protect that Establishment because hacking and anarchy are, like, totally not cool man (I'm not kidding, the whole thrust of the season is Elliot trying to save Evil Corp from Mr Robot, he even goes to work there!). Of course the show is made by USA, which is owned by Comcast, which is one of the largest & most hated companies in America, so it's no surprise how fast they swung to a pro-corporate, pro-Establishment theme (or that it includes a superhumanly brilliant hacker shemale, which is something big media corps are clearly very eager to push)

    3) The multiple-personality shtick was already a lame cliche back in Season 1, but by now it has passed deep into self-parody territory. Probably the worst is a sequence where Elliot and Mr Robot fight for control as they walk down a hallway, with the result that he keeps flinging himself into walls and banging his head off of pipes like a Bugs Bunny cartoon. I was laughing my butt off at what was supposed to be a tense, serious scene.

The good news is that there's hope this show will be shelved soon, since the viewership has dropped like a rock and is now just 1/3rd what it was in the first season. Having seen season 3, I can certainly see why viewers are turning away.

I do think this show made a great step forwards with the first two episodes of season 3. The first season got me hooked and while I did like the second season a lot, I think that season 3 could top both preceding ones.

So far this series showed great cinematics, an awesome choice of music and OSTs and very good acting. With Rami Malek, BD Wong and Charly Chaikin "Mr. Robot" seriously

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Season 1 was brilliant, season 2 got a little pretentious, but was still pretty good, but sadly season 3 is by far the weakest yet. Some episodes are utterly boring, and even the most interesting episodes fall way short of the high standards of season 1. Most of the time nothing happens, and you know nothing is going to happen, which makes it extremely boring. And when something does happen (something major), it is told in the least powerful way they could possibly have come up with, so that you still barely care. Season 3's portrayal of mental illness is also deeply insulting. The most disappointing thing about season 3 though, is that Elliot is now working to protect EvilCorp. It feels like they used up all the plot in season 1 and 2, but wanted to drag it out so they just made up whatever garbage they could come up with. I mean seriously, Elliot working to protect EvilCorp! Which idiot thought that was a good idea!? Sadly, it appears Sam Esmail has surrounded himself with Yes Men and cowards who are afraid to speak up when he comes up with garbage ideas. It's truly sad to see what was originally a great show become a total joke. Expand

A return to form. Season 3 combines the best elements of Season 1 and 2, and finally advances the plot forward while deepening the characters. It finally moves away from the Fight Club references and blazes its own path. This is still some of the best editing, cinematography and acting on Television, and has some of the best television moments of 2017.
