Oct 9, 2018My favorite new show of the fall season - totally stealth, too. Starting this sucker at 11:30 pm after Mayans is tough, but hopefully people will find this in streaming, etc. GREAT lead actor, and the humor is pitch perfect.

Oct 10, 2018Mr. Inbetween does a fantastic job at being witty, fun and exciting without being over the top. The show is straightforward and a very relaxing watch. One of the best new shows of the season.

Oct 20, 2018Excellent show. Besides having to translate Australian lingo, this show keeps me anxiously coming back for more and my favorite for the fall season. Thank you!

May 30, 2023Filmed and set in Australia, Ray earns extra cash working various jobs for criminals whilst trying to take care of his daughter and terminally ill brother.
The anti-hero is a well worn trope at this point, but thanks to a great lead performance from Scott Ryan, excellent writing and a darkly humorous streak Mr Inbetween still succeeds in making for great television. -
Mar 30, 2021One of the finest Australian TV shows ever made.
Scott Ryan's understated performance as Ray is nothing short of brilliant, and headlines what is a brilliantly cast show.
Both wickedly funny and at times terrifying, this taut, exceptionally well written show is a must see.

Mr. Inbetween functions less as a thriller than a character study, often enough as a comedy, and occasionally as a critique of toxic masculinity. Indeed, it comes most alive in scenes where nothing much is happening, in a way that nevertheless holds your interest.

Mr Inbetween is a modest time killer as those go these days. The entire season clocks in at under three hours, divided into efficient half-hour segments, two of which debuted last week. Its shortened length in no way shortchanges the viewer, though (Purveyors of extended hour-long episodic bloat, please take note). That said, whether you love Mr Inbetween or are turned off by it hinges upon Ryan’s rendering of Ray.

It doesn’t mine that “inbetween” state as much as it could, relying on Ryan’s deft performance to do most of the work. ... Mr. Inbetween lacks a particular plot arc or a central dilemma to sustain its story. What it offers instead is a conundrum, complicated by Ryan’s charisma and the woeful state of the men who surround Ray.
