Delightful. ... Like many a stand-up comic headlining a sitcom, Iglesias is a good enough actor and more than a good enough comedian; what he lacks in finesse he makes up in attitude. And he has the support of a great cast (young and old), including Sherri Shepherd as the principal.

Mr. Iglesias isn't bad at all. It lacks the sublime grounding that Rita Moreno and Justina Machado brought to One Day at a Time, but as broad ensemble multi-cams go, this one has its heart in the right place and occasionally tackles topical issues well.

Take away the dating-app jokes, and the humor is, if anything, blander and more predictable, the jokes more obvious, the reaction shots more ubiquitous. The show glides along on the self-effacing charm of its star, but it doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere. ... “Mr. Iglesias” doesn’t consistently find ways to capitalize on the good will its performers build up, though.
