There's something wrong when the most watched non-English series on Netflix has zero critics reviews.

There are however times when the events are quite unbelievable. You could say there is more than just one pretty glaring loophole in the story, just to keep things going in the desired direction. If you can stomach the somewhat socialist Robin Hood ideology, these first two seasons are a must. From the third season on things got less and less appealing for me. The motivation for certain actions became less and less credible up to the point where I almost lost interest in it all, which would have been a shame since the finales are definitely worth seeing.
Season 4 is the least appealing with a lot of yada yada posing as background story in between the good parts.

I'd recommend the fist two seasons with the Spanish original audio over the English voiceover, even if you're not used to reading subtitles. The English voiceover just makes everything sound second class and doesn't do the series justice.

Season 1 & 2 : 8/10
Season 3 : 7/10
Season 4 : 6/10
So an average of 7, still in the green, sounds about right and not bad at all for a Netflix Original series.

A robbery that is so masterful that it is not even possible. Where some films lag slightly behind and you say you could have done this like this or if they did this in reality, it's not long ago after them. Everything works here and the whole plan is simply masterful. I won't go into why it's so brilliant here, because I could get to spoilers, which I don't want. The main characters grow to the heart, or at least for me. In addition to all this, the Bella Ciao jingle and you have something incredible. Everything is exciting here and you wonder how it will go on, or at least that's the case with the 1st and 2nd series, which are the best I've ever experienced in the series. If the show ended like this, it would be the best show I've ever seen. Unfortunately, there were other series that are no longer at such a high level. Don't get me wrong. They are great and definitely worth seeing too, but they don't have the quality of the previous ones. So for me, an amazing series that you should see.

The storytelling, acting, music, ambiance, it's all there and its magnificent. the story itself is really good too. If it would have been my choice, i would have ended the series there. The third and Fourth season quite literally feel like a money heist, they are still entertaining of course, but just not as good as the first two. The cast have even said in numerous interviews that the show was supposed to end after the second season, but because people enjoy it so much, they made more. Overall I really recommend watching all four seasons as not really an "action" person myself, i still really liked it. I know this review has been praising the first two seasons and **** on the last, but the third and fourth season were still really good and worth your time, I just think they weren't necessary. Overall: Great show and definitely worth your time. Expand

Watched a bit and gave up on it. Few days later when I was sick at home, bored and looking for some movie to watch I stumbled across this again so I decided to watch it. 15 minutes and im surprised how good it is. This serial has something that other dont have and its character memorization, there are so many characters, important and less important but you will still remember them. There are still some cons, its no secret that the gang is winning and losing. But 3rd and mainly 4th season **** it up, dont get me wrong they are still very enjoyable but gang is almost only winning. Another con is that 3rd and 4th are way too much like bond movies, especially in late 4th season. 5th season is supposed to come out this september and I hope they make it more balanced for gang and police. Despite 3rd and 4th season having flaws, I give 10/10. Expand

No, he invites the neighborhood equivalent of the Three Stooges--- and off they go on their bumbling fumbling way.
In this series a guy spends 20 years perfecting the perfect heist--- does he bring along a crack team of superbly trained ex-military and highly experienced bank robbers and safecrackers--- no, he recruits a crew of losers, immature goofballs, impulsive nitwits and throws in one out and out narcissistic psycho. Oh, and the director of the mint also seems to be the fourth stooge. In fact, he even looks like one.
Definitely a mixed bag here. The basic idea is great. Some of the stuff that goes on is interesting, if rarely believable. But, really, it could have been so, so much better--- instead it's basically a silly soap opera. With a lot of annoying characters.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Money Heist is a Netflix original that has recently gained buzz. For starters it's not a bad show, not even close. However, it's extremely mid-tier and it shows mid way through season 1. When I watch a show I buy into the premise out of fairness to the show. This show tried me several times with the events that occurred. To be complete honest I I felt that certain scenarios I felt likely would have occurred didn't and threw me for a loop. Season 1 also dealt with major pacing issues, it somewhat resolved itself in later seasons. Now to the characters...I liked Denver, Berlin, and Nairobi. The rest of the characters felt so cliche. While Tokyo is the main character you don't sympathize with her and her actions. She comes across as horny and irresponsible. Rio to me was just a waste of a character. The show is good for watching and forgetting. If I were to classify this show I would say TNT or USA channel show that has good moments, lacks staying power.

Season 1: 3/10
Season 2: 7/10
Season 3: 6/10

Money Heist/La Casa de Papel is the most overrated waste-of-time series on Netflix (and perhaps streaming syndicates to date). Just a few reasons: over the top melodrama with psychotic 'love' stories that drown the plot; main characters that are cliche and all but impossible to sympathize with, unoriginal soundtracking borrowed from American Beauty and only 1/3 of the cast is comprised of decent acting. Most of all it is WAY too long in telling the story that needs to be told. Apparently it is being positively compared to Breaking Bad. Wow. Money Heist doesn't even come close to seeing the dirt on the bottom of Breaking Bad's feet it's buried so far beneath it. One thing I will say is the public interest it has generated in foreign production is a plus. We need more exposure to foreign film. But sorry not sorry, you can't remotely compare it to works of art like Breaking Bad. Someone please tell me how Money Heist/La Casa de Papel has a claimed a 4.8 on google, an 8.5 on IMDB and a 91% on RT. Then again, the live action version of Aladdin also got rave reviews from the general audience. Maybe as a society we are just becoming that simple/easy to please.

Also well summarized by an IMDB User, Thomas_Eogan: "I really only write reviews when I feel like a show is getting way too much of praise or way too little. I love heist movies/series. So it makes sense that I would finally end up watching this one. But let me warn you, other heist lovers, this is a soap opera not a heist story. I'm 6 episodes in now (probably wont be a 7th) and it's just annoying the hell out of me. The characters are unbelievably stupid, doing things that even people like us, who aren't actually career criminals, would never do. And what is the reason for this stupidity? LOVE! Or, maybe I should say crushes? Criminals loving criminals, criminals loving hostages and every other combination. These are people who have lost it all and want everything, and then drop the whole plan and do ridiculous thing when a girl/boy smiles at them sweetly. I know that I'm very late to reviewing this thing (as it already has multiple seasons) but if my words can save someone 6 hours of their life, it will be worth it. I sadly won't be getting that time back. it's a 2/10 stars for me (but I put 3/10 believing that people are more likely to ignore the very low score reviews, and I aim to protect you people) :D Take care!" ***Series that are actually worth the time: Barry, Chernobyl, BoJack Horseman, Succession, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, Schitt's Creek, Fleabag, Dirty Money, Killing Eve, The OA, Russian Doll, When They See Us, It's Bruno!, Bodyguard, The Americans, Westworld.***

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I binge-watched four seasons in a week during covid-lockdown. What's to like: The plot is fun, and creative. Clearly, some Breaking-Bad-esque thought went into it. The acting is generally pretty good. Can't say I've ever seen anything quite like the Berlin and Palermo good-bye scene, which is a good thing. What's not to like: I couldn't get over the fact that the Professor, the brains of the operation, wouldn't be caught dead involved in a criminal venture with the likes of this ragtag, majorly-flawed, and downright incompetent group of criminals. The idea is ridiculous. Most of the problems they encounter are of their own making, only to be rescued by some piece of genius by the Professor. ...much of which shouldn't be necessary. It drove me a little nuts. The plot's absurdity can intrude on the viewers need for escapism. Still, it's a fun ride. Be sure to watch with subtitles, and not dubbed. I made that mistake for the first season before I realized I had the choice. Expand

The twists and turns, the overall execution of the entire series puts Hollywood and 90% of other TV shows to shame.
I acknowledge there are some glaring plot holes in the Volume 2, but with a bit of suspended belief and an understanding that its just a TV show, you can easily look past the problems.
Money Heist is fantastic television, I wish more people would watch it.

Money heist

So it has come to a final end. Thank God, because I couldn't handle the death of anymore character. The last lead character to die deserved better, that character didn't carry the weight of this series on their shoulders to be ended that way (Tokyo.)

The end to the entire series was thrilling and big, and watchers can definitely sigh in relief that it's over (or maybe not, there are going to be spinoffs: a South Korean one, and another). The end to season 2 was more impactful, believable and memorable, but after the journey watchers have travelled, it's definitely an emotional and beautiful end.

There's no need to rave about how phenomenal the series is, this has been a known fact since 2017 (or 2019 when it gained international success).

NB: why don't international series get nominated for Emmys (not that international Emmys thingy) is the Emmys for the UK and US alone? Because Money Heist definitely deserved an Emmy nom... It's literally impossible that a UK or US show would have this much success and fame and not have an Emmy nom.
