This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The season came with a different flavour compared to what we have seen in the previous instalments of La Casa De Papel. However, we were greeted with the same constant action, tension and suspense that watchers were so used to from the past four seasons.

We start off thrown back in where we left off in season four. The gang are 100 hours deep into the heist and have lost their prize possession: The Professor. The man who has been so cunning before, does not have an escape plan and things are looking rather bleak all round. Despite this, we are yet again exposed to The Professor's extreme intelligence and ability to make things work when everyone least expects it. The whole situation with Sierra capturing him whilst rogue and pregnant is very intentional and works so well as the story unfolds. On one hand, we have the gang fighting for their lives in the Bank of Spain as terror unfolds before their eyes. On the other hand, we have the professor playing mind games with the vulnerable Sierra. Slowly working his way back into a power position.

My issue with this season was the pace. There were more flashbacks than usual and I'm not sure why the producers decided to focus so much on Tokyo's previous partner who was killed on a heist. I see that it was for sentimental reason and to evoke emotion but it takes away from the main storyline and the current heist in my opinion. There are scenes of great action such as the army presenting a new challenge for the gang but for me, this season was too slow compared to its predecessors. Overall, this season was not bad at all and I look forward to see what lies in the future for the gang. One thing I have to always give the directors credit for is the constant suspense that they create, especially between parts.

it's pathetic what this series has become, it's pure fan service with ignorant scenes and a drawn-out script to yield more seasons

Great movie. The story is decent. The scoring is great, visual is really amazing, the voice & sound is also amazing

Though tedious and stretched, Part 5 is a quick attempt to finish story lines from previous seasons, not so confidently, but it makes sense. The second half is the best, it's confident, emotional, gripping and smart. However, the first half does suffer from its clingy attitude to past characters, bad dialogue and lack of charm which gripped viewers in initial seasons.

The net result is a thriller that proves a blast from start to finish.
