    Gnarly flick. Those north shore barrels, with the sun shining off the lip, and the white sand beaches in the background, the palm trees bobbing their heads to the music. Incredible. That mother who hosted all those boys in her house must have been a saint. God bless her.....

    An absolutely captivating doc about a bunch of dudes from my age group who shared a pretty incredible time together as young guys. It feels like a time capsule - so amazing that they were able to preserve all that footage.

    You do not need to be interested in surfing to be excited and moved by Jeff and Michael Zimbalist's excellent, eloquent documentary Momentum Generation. A surf film might not be the first thing you’d expect to bring you repeatedly to tears, but I can say with authority it is possible.

    A revealing documentary. ... While Momentum Generation features plenty of satisfying and even breathtaking shots of surfing (after all, the project is brought to you by HBO Sports), it’s more surprising that filmmakers Jeff and Michael Zimbalist are less concerned with delivering a standard surf movie than exploring the ways in which boys become men.
