The pilot was pretty good but by episode 2 it's already lived up to expectations and become another bland procedural, with a Sci-fi element that does nothing to change the same basic formula.

Lead, Detective Vega (Meagan Good) starts off guarded because of her back story, but as the episodes progress you see her gradually open up and let people past her protective shell. The show is rich with subtext and the writing is layered. I think, once you get past the pilot, they made the right choices with nearly every aspect of their story telling. It's worth sticking with and watching all the episodes. Expand

Good casting makes the audience care for the well-being of the characters, helps us connect to the story, believe the actors in their respective roles, and root for the good guys....

Which is why, when this show is cancelled in about 2 weeks and the producers are looking for someone to blame...target the Casting Director.

To be fair, these are solid actors who would be successful in roles that suited them. However, the show does nothing to make me care for, or even like, any of the main characters. The result: I can't connect to the larger plot line, I don't care what happens next...so I turn it off.

Compared to recent surge of sci-fi series, Minority Report is looking more refined with clearly better production. However, this doesn't have the same thrilling spirit from Tom Cruise's action thriller. The precognition concept has been reduced to typical paranormal investigation like that of Tru Calling or first season of Heroes. In fact, this may have had more buzz if it aired a decade ago.

If you're not familiar with the source, or understandably forget the story, the show opens with brief narrative about the movie. In near future authority used precog system by plugging three siblings into a machine, a mix between psychic and technology to determine crime before it happened. Unfortunately, Tom Cruise proved that it had flaws and the project was scratched.

One of the siblings, Dash (Stark Sands) now leads a normal witness protection life, but he still has the clairvoyance gift. With the help of a female police officer Lara Vega (Meagan Good) he helps solve crime in a rather timid sci-fi crime drama. The cast is leaning towards light comedy than thriller, which is perhaps intentionally made to suit the series.

The problem is the two leads don't mesh together well. Stark Sands has the quirky savant look, but he doesn't possess the on-screen presence for a capable lead. Flash and Mr. Robot have intelligent character that work for them, sadly that's not the case here. Meegan Good is attractive for the lead female, but she's an odd choice for tough female role. While she does look fit, it doesn't translate to serious femme fatale personality.

Its change to more humorous tone is different from the futuristic noir of the movie, it's not bad and probably better to accommodate TV series. It does rely too much on casual cop spectacle, yet doesn't really have the draw or chemistry such as Castle. Not to mention the use of psychic is getting old, the foreshadowing gimmick feels like a puzzle played too many times.

The presentation is impeccable though. It's obvious that the show invests a lot on making the world looks brightly inviting. The details for gadgetry, environment and investigation are splendid. This world definitely could work for foundation for TV series, although the narrative and characters are not as intriguing.

An interesting premise turned into yet another procedural; with even the unique "precrime" selling point watered down to insignificance. There was an engaging and thought provoking series that could have stemmed from the film, but this is not it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If this show were set in the present, would it be any better? The answer is no, and tarting up a poorly written story with unimaginative future tech doesn't make it better. And I really wanted to like Minority Report, especially with Continuum almost over, but I think I'm done after the first episode. The real killer for me was the "holographic" phone which turned out to be an image projected onto an air-filled bag that deflated into a large suitcase when the call was over. What the hell! Are you supposed to lug that suitcase around every time you want to call someone? The scary surveillance spiders of the movie are now flying balls that look just like the golden snitch from the Harry Potter films. Later, I think the producers got confused with homing pigeons when they used no-longer-extinct passenger pigeons to spread poison gas at a rally. Also, there are no driver-less cars in this future, and they still ride the Washington Metro. I think we're going to see some early cancellations at Fox this season, and Minority Report will be one of the first. Expand

This show had so much potential but it seems like anytime a scifi show is released the writers and directors purposely kill it.

Who the heck cast the roles for this show? The characters/actors are not right for this show at all. The only one who does a reasonably good job is the lead actress. Whoever hired these actors should be fired.

Good, not great, but it has potential. I hope it gets a chance to develop so we can see where it goes. I like that the show is taking the approach of focusing on the Precogs and showing what they've become, but I really hope it doesn't turn into a case-of-the-week type format.

First watching this show is a little like watching an exercise video – with dialog. Absolutely everything is done by computer and by wildly waving your arms and twisting your wrists. It’s a little like the whole world is an iPhone and your fingers just aren’t long enough to move everything around.

The first show has a truly juvenile plot coupled with hackneyed writing and pretty generally stiff acting. Sorry cast. You need more work, or maybe you just need a new Director. Somewhere along the line, someone has said, “We need more cowbell, no, no, more special effects.” And more special effects are what “Minority Report” gives you. More than you need or, hopefully, more than you want.

All in all, the show is a mish-mosh. Not entirely boring, but not very interesting either.

Also, quite honestly found the Will Blake character to be extremely annoying (way too much of an irritating, pretty boy actor was cast). That being said, I actually enjoyed it over all and liked the CGI/special effects used to represent futuristic police investigation tools. I liked the hint of what the underlying, connecting story thread will be that was given at the closing of the pilot so we know there will be more than just a case of the week format. I was dubious of this show because of the concept and the ripped from a movie nature of the story. I didn't think it would work. The major flaw if this series is the totally diluted (and lost) debate regarding the ethics of law enforcement. While the original film questions the existence of free will, this Minority Report series eliminates all possible debate and is your standard cop series with a touch of conveniently placed psychic powers. Such an awful and cheap approach.

In the year 2040, the world is literally led by technology. But interestingly, it has evidenced the increase in killings in the city, so a group of people call to one scientist to create a program called "pre-crime". So a group of three little guys is necessary to be the "precogs". What are the precogs? They are those who can see the future, Dash can see fragments of the killing, Arthur knows the names of possible victims and Agatha feels what the victim feels. Both are confined to a milk bath to keep the city safe. But when pre-crime closed, they have been free and hidden, until now.

Once they were free, Dash tries to hide his gifts and is forced to contact Vega because he never manages to get in time before the murder occurs. Lara Vega (Meagan Good) is an excellent police of the DIA that is under the care of her boss Will Blake (Wilmer Valderrama), an eccentric, but noble man who subsequently will help Vega.

I can assure you that this is not only special effects. When you entrust to a series, you have to endure its lazy and horrible episodes, but is too satisfying to know the entire process of the series to be a good show. And this is the case of "Minority Report" in which at first sight looks difficult but after half of season, road is more pleasant. This does not mean that the series has no visual effects, has them but the series focuses more on another path.

On the cinematography side, half of the series is by Barry Donlevy. We should not wait big shots or anything like, "Minority Report" relies on its own history to create a good presentation. In terms of photography, it is acceptable. Sometimes, it is surprising with truly majestic angles that enhance the beauty of a scene and create a visual paradise only with being in an enclosed area. As for soundtrack of the series, also you will not wait anything surprise. Even, they do a good job with the atmosphere, the music is not a big factor here.

The cast is less favourable to the series. The characters are delicately made as all the other series, but initially the climate feels cold and chemistry and passion among the main actors do not take shape. As the show progresses, the character development is exponential and only with a little patience, you'll see all the beauty that is hidden in superficial performances in the start.

"Minority Report" is the best series I've seen in aspects of the sci-fi genre. Because not only is it concentrated in show explosions, ships and many special effects, also cares about have a good main plot, which engage audiences to also connect with the subplots. At first I thought that the series was going to be boring by many terms and unfamiliar words, but after the first five episodes, the emotion is born. Fox will not give green light to a second season, depending on the affirmed, but, with a single season is quite sufficient.

If it were set on a different day and time it will likely thrive. No smut which is great since that is the story line with most shows now-a-days. Given a chance it will be a good show.

The show itself, while existing in a sleek future of advanced technology, is a bit clunky. It hews to the most obvious tropes of case-of-the-week shows about oddball visionaries partnered with law-and-order sharpshooters, and in the first hour at least, doesn’t pay its audience much respect when it comes to the plausibility of dialogue, character motivations, or the security procedures at a mental institution for former future-convicts.

Minority Report disappoints because, in its first episode at least, it is uninterested in the very idea that enlivened the film: that precrime could be wrong.

Besides Sands's performance as Dash, a likably frazzled ingenue who hurls himself bravely into action but has no physical skills to speak of, the production design is the best (maybe only) reason to watch Minority Report.
