Kevin Smith is a soy filled incompetent lair. Everything Clownfish said about him and this stupid series was true, the Netflix trailer was blatant bait and switch. Another thing men and boys enjoy ruined by a bunch of man hating feminazies who think that an only good male character is a obedient simp or a dead one. Expand

This show is basically the hollowed out corpse of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

The only people who are going to enjoy this are feminist ideologues who are specifically looking for a mean spirited deconstruction of something that men like - but even then they will probably only watch an episode or two (long enough to take a victory lap), before they stop watching, and go back to ignoring the franchise.

Who was this even made for?

Excellent Teela show. I was waiting for the return of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE", but this is not the case. This is the adventures of bodybuilding gay women and a few lame male characters as a backdrop. Completely disappointed as 40 years long fan of MOTU

Do you see a trailer showing he-man your childhood hero and hope to get a sense of nostalgia and what do we get? Flashbacks of he-man and Teela as the protagonist do you think the audience is a clown?

Garbage. Pure waste of resources. Here's hoping that Netflix and other production houses never work with Kevin Smith again. As a fan born in the early 70's, I grew up with these cartoons. **** Kevin Smith for this ****

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I tried to keep an open mind, even knowing that He-Man was going to be written out of this show. Sadly, there are almost no redeeming qualities in this dumpster fire. Even Skeletor is almost nowhere to be found. Teela, who is now the main character, is whiny and totally unlikable. All the MOTU characers are reduced to cameos or Teela sidekicks. The feminist tilt to the storytelling is present throughout. There really is almost nothing to like here.

The trailers were guilty of bait-and-switch, Kevin Smith blantantly lied (and burned up what little credibilty he had left, hope it was worth the paycheck), and this is not the MOTU any kind of fan wants to see.

Whoever came up with the idea of taking MOTU, with one of the more masculine heroes, and reducing the show to a woke a feminist mouthpeice, I hope they rot in hell.

It is unwatchable. It is purely cultural vandalism meant to piss off fans of the series, or of storytelling in general, to push a woke agenda. This ends up having the opposite effect of what they intend. Stay well away from this

The story was poor with a weak screenplay and he-man 'dying' in the first episode. Switched off after the first episode. Avoid! Expand

The problem is not the fact that Teela is the main character, I would say that is even the cool thing about it, but the problem is how she is portrayed! It was advertised as continuation of the 80s show, but it isn't, many of the characters, specially Teela, are acting totally out of character! The story progression is weak, some of the things that happen make no sense, not to mention things that are changed for no reason, and no I don't only mean the race swapping of some characters, I mean entire landscapes totally changed for no reason!

Kevin Smith didn't lie about one thing, he indeed was not and obviously still isn't a fan of MOTU, and that is well shown in this show.

It's not great. The source material isn't exactly amazing, full of campy jokes, stilted dialogue and inconsistent characters, but it's weird to revive the series and keep all these negative traits while also cutting out everything that made the original enjoyable.

It's another sad bait and switch reboot. It acts like it's going to scratch that nostalgia itch than pisses in your face

I'll give it a couple points for the art in some places. Occasionally it looks cool enough that I wish it was better.

It may take a little while to fully get into what Masters of the Universe: Revelation is doing if you are not already familiar with the franchise. But whether you're a longtime fan or just hungry for a unique blend of sci-fi and fantasy, this show offers an exhilarating adventure that justifies the era of the legacyquel, while proving itself a necessary and essential part of the Masters of the Universe mythos.

Smith eschews his normally wordy dialogue style, but keeps the characters smart and real, which helps us want to follow all of them as they go on their journey. He also hews closely to the convoluted world that is Eternia, where there’s layer upon layer of intrigue and mysticism that needs to be restored or captured. The animation is an upgraded version of the ’80s Filmation style the original show had, but with just enough retro touches to keep the show connected to its predecessor.
