    Whas makes M*A*S*H great, however, is not political/social statement but the artistic finesse which makes is simultaneously good entertainment and of mass appeal. [29 Sep 1972, p.50]

    Of the main characters there are about 11 in number, the large majority being thoroughly reprehensible in nature while the rest are simply boors; in this respect the series pays homage to the movie. [18 Sep 1972, p.B6]

    How really pleasant it is to report that M*A*S*H turned up on Sunday night with the spirit of the original, if not all the blood and free-swinging language, intact. [18 Sep 1972, p.31]
