It lacks commitment, entertainment and seems to have been written in a caffé with nothing better to do. The characters are childish and uninteresting.

The premise and themes introduced in "Marvel's Inhumans" are actually quite interesting and compelling. However, soapy melodrama, a bland overall feel, uninspired action, confusing character powers, unnecessary flashbacks to scenes that happened less than 5 minutes ago, and cheap special effects render this production dead on arrival.

I liked it but I am not sure it is going to make it. I think bolt needs to talk I find it really hard to get into this with him not speaking. The action was good, the actors are all great but it needs something. I will watch a few more episodes to see if it gets better but....if not.i have to say good bye.

Wooden acting, a trite and way too obvious plot, boring action scenes and stupid characters doing stupid things. If you expected anything from Marvel's Inhumans other than a sad waste of production cost, you'll be disappointed.

    Yecch.

I think maybe the first rule of screenwriting is "give the audience a reason to care." Somehow, Marvel's Inhumans completely fails at that. You've got basically five Good Guys: a spoiled and entitled queen, a spoiled and entitled princess, a mute king, a big tough military guy with hooves, and a weird arrogant face-tattoo guy. None of them have any kindness or humor or sense

You've got basically five Good Guys: a spoiled and entitled queen, a spoiled and entitled princess, a mute king, a big tough military guy with hooves, and a weird arrogant face-tattoo guy. None of them have any kindness or humor or sense of duty to anyone but themselves. It is unclear why they are Good Guys.

Then you've got one Bad Guy: Ramsay Snow, who wants to overthrow these "let them eat cake" nitwits and end the caste system on the moon. Actually, he sounds like a Good Guy, but they're sure to play very very sinister music whenever he's on screen so we know we're supposed to root against him.

The Good Guys get sent to Earth kind of like that He-Man movie from the '80s, and we watch them be total jerks to ordinary people. Then the Bad Guys chase them to Earth and we watch them have a bunch of inconclusive fights and say a bunch of "tough girl" one-liners.

    This show sucks.

Marvel's Inhumans is absolute trash. i am shocked that something so bad came out of Marvel Studios. First and foremost, this looks like the cheapest thing Marvel has ever made. it looks fan made. And don't even get me started on this shows actors; they're all terrible.

I have only seen the two-hour TV pilot, so my review is not of the entire series. I think the special effects and costumes are somewhat passable, but unfortunately, there was no compensating for the poor quality of writing in the TV pilot. The choreography of the fights was surprisingly very amateurish. I have my doubts as to whether the series will be salvageable.

"Inhumans" is already again, the first series I saw, and the first time I experimented a series, obviously was not as I expected, because the plot was regular, but in terms of performances, special effects and history were disappointing , in fact the first two chapters were a waste of ice water for fans of the Marvel series, and for fans of the series in general.

The main villain is just miscast: he looks weak, with very little emotions, almost no charisma. Even when he got speeches to make, he sounds flat and unconvincing. And the lines they told are just very generic at times. The story is there but is widely presented. Sometimes the sequences are too short, sometimes too long...which breaks the rhythm all the time. The special effect are fun for Karnak and the dog, but just wrong for Medusa. Her character in general is truncated with poor choice of wardrobe and hair piece that look horrible. I can't say that it was as terrible as others have here. It certainly wasn't as terrible as the new Star Trek. But... Inhumans was extremely slow, rather dull, and didn't have much of a focus on actual story. Some of that comes from having superpowered people with really "meh" powers, and frankly I don't like or follow Inhumans in the comics either because the characters just don't seem interesting. The story itself has been done to death: "we should take over the world because we can, might makes right," but with rather lame superpowers, could they really? The main antagonist takes out the ruling family, or at least chases them off in a partially effective coup, and he seems to have no powers at all. Too much of a focus here was spent on showcasing the various powers, but when the powers aren't that interesting (prehensile hair, or stompy hooves, really?)... it goes nowhere fast. And the silent king, it seems he can't decide much of anything and just gets himself captured. It's possible he did so because he didn't want to kill anyone, but this is precisely where a comic book could provide such exposition and explanation and a TV show can't (at least not well). As for the absolutely gigantic dog which teleports... is it an Inhuman? Or did the Kree modify the genetics of animals as well? If not, why would a derpy dog have terrigen-activated powers? I get that in this new form of storytelling where you get binge-able long story arcs, not everything will or can be explained in one episode. But this was so dull and ploddingly slow that I kept wondering why they'd even bother making this show. On the positive side, there were a few moments of humor and I did like the "Crystal" character (the only one who didn't have a stupid power). But why did this rather diverse group of Inhumans consider themselves family, and why have an entire lower caste of Inhumans all with "meh" genetic powers? Wasn't the whole thing about Inhumans that they would develop powers that were needful and helpful, if not to the person directly then to the Inhumans as a group? Many things just seemed off in this story. A "lower caste" of enhanced humans was done better with the Morlocks, mutants who are forced to live underground. With Inhumans, you'd think at least some would develop powers to help them expand their city, or enhance quality of life, if indeed their powers are meant to develop as "what's needful" rather than just random genetic weirdness like the Morlocks of mutantkind. The marvel inhumans serie should focus on the story and scenario and forgot about the special effects.
Black bolt should be able to speak from time to time. Even in his solo serie he can speak with the good technology (power inhibitor). Black bolt is very skilled in martial arts like Dardevil and Karnak. He doesn't need to use his super powers on TV. As king of the inhumans, he should have all the powers imaginable.

Marvel's proven it can take even the silliest of settings and spin it into gold. Just look at Thor, a movie that probably should have been terrible, but turned out great. The problem with Inhumans lies not with the idea but the execution. The story is predictable, the dialogue is cheesy, the characters are wooden, and you know you've got a problem when the best acting is coming from the only guy who's a mute. Even Iwan Rheon seems like he's drowning, trying to keep his head above the bad writing. This is not Game of Thrones.

To be fair, the fight scenes are entertaining. Mortis is funny. Maximus (a.k.a. Loki with a beard) is somewhat fun. That's about it.

Agents of Shield has witty dialogue, likable characters, interesting stories that cleverly borrow ideas from the comics, clever tie-ins with the movies, and a self-aware sense of humor. Daredevil and Jessica Jones have dark, gritty atmospheres, flawed, human protagonists, and a dramatic sense of poetry and tragedy. This show has a magic bulldog.

I made it six episodes in and I can't do it anymore. I'd rather rewatch Iron Fist or Defenders over this, and they're both pretty bad. The show has passed the point of no return. It can't be saved. It's got gangrene and it needs to be amputated.

Inhumans didn't look too bad, but after enduring about 4 episodes, I had to switch off. Another reviewer said this looks like a fan-made project, which is a good description. It's a slow meandering bore. Compare Inhumans to something like 'The Gifted" and the quality differences are very obvious.

Longer version: I saw the negative reviews from fans and critics and was curious as Inhumans were handled well in Agents of Shield. So I started watching the first episode and later the whole show. Rarely if ever were I so divided. The story, characters and concepts / ideas were excellent. The execution however is sometimes really bad. I mean wooden acting, scenes that reminded me of plays at school instead of a show with this budget and other scenes that did not work as intended atop of some bad special effects (I am normally not the guy who rants about this). To be fair they have also sometimes good acting, well done character moments and scenes that make me think how good the show could be if everything was this excellent. Lets start at the beginning: The Inhumans were created long ago by an alien race from normal humans as powerful soldiers to fight for them. Later they abandoned the project and the Inhumans formed their own secluded society while later migrating to the moon to hide their presence. An Inhuman is practically a human with dormant genes that can give him/her superpowers. As passage rite every Inhuman is exposed to Terrigen mist which activates the genes. This is however as much a curse as a blessing. The changes are random and unpredictable. You can get something awesome or mutated into a horrible appearance or even both. For example the king of the Inhumans and his brother were differently cursed by this. Black Bolt the king got voice powers strong enough to destroy a city at full power (in the comics even more from continent to small planet destroying powers). Even a small whisper can kill people around him and he has to live with it. His brother Maximus was transformed into a baseline human and is looked down by others because of it. There is also a strict caste system as the resources and living space is limited (The powers you get also affect your later status but you can also be a prisoner of your role caused by abilities). The story starts shortly after the Inhumans destroyed a lunar rover because it came to close to their hidden home of Attilan on the moon. Maximus started a coup against his brother as there are many unhappy with the caste system. The royal family must hastily flee to Earth and are separated while being hunted. The rest I wont spoil. The story for itself is enjoyable and works well. There are some good twists and reveals that kept me entertained. Sadly there are some scenes that are poorly directed / done / acted. It took me out of the immersion and I can fully understand why others disliked the show. While I am at it: It was a bad idea to give the show an IMAX theatrical release. The people were hyped and expected something far greater. It was a disappointment and a good example for being over-hyped. Back to the review: The acting is similar. There are so many good moments and poor moments. I made the school play example earlier on and I was even not looking for this. I blame it on the script or director as I think the main characters are proven actors. I like all of them and their arcs. Be it Anson Mount as Black Bolt who works so well as silent protagonist in many scenes. Serinda Swan as Medusa also delivers strong scenes as do Ken Leung as Karnak and Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon. Again there are also bad scenes. Iwan Rheon as Maximus is such a great humanly villain (Unintentional joke). I fully understand his motives and flaws. So much character development but not everything is done well but from the potential I say this could have been pure gold. I must also point out that the special effects are somewhat weak. I find Attilan pretty boring and the effects of superpowers were sparingly used. The fight choreography however improved greatly and at the end I will give positive credits here. Overall this will become my prime example for a hit and miss show. It is so good on paper but does not always deliver. If they introduced the characters into Agents of Shield with their staff and direction it would have been awesome (There is a gap between season 3 and 4 of 6 months in universe that could be used). It is not great but also not as awful as other people rated it. Expand

The arguments against this show are very poorly constructed but well-justified.

The hero’s goals are to support their governmental system of slavery, classism based of eugenics, and the injustice based of the powers of an autocracy. The villain is fighting for freedom of the slaves of society who are forced into hard labor. As a result I found myself rooting for the villain and actively disliking the heroes.
    - The characters do illogical things and often character motivations of the secondary cast do not make sense. Secondary characters help the primary characters without knowing who they are OR why they should help while at the same time dealing with the abusive heroes.
+ Ken Leung (Karnak): had some of the most interesting dialogue in the series. Eventally poor writing holds this character back.
    - Serinda Swan (Medusa) is a terrible actress who did not seem to get her character. She does an OK job as the season goes on.
~ Anson Mount (Black Bolt) they seem to just wonder around without really knowing what to do. The disconnection you feel from this character comes from their inability to communicate with others and especially the audience.

SOUND: 4/10 For me music is not important until it actively stands-out as bad … and hear the soundtrack often consists of songs that drowns out the dialogue in the worst way. Some of the time the soundtrack includes words which makes this problem even worst.

Jokes: Most are unfunny and fall flat.

SPECIAL EFFECTS 7/10: Most people hate the poor looking special effects but I do not think they are that much of a problem compared to the poor story, and character motivations.

    OVERALL:
    - Nonsensical Character motivations
    - Story where the hero’s defend a government based on slavery (caste system) though eugenics
    - Villain more likable then the heroes
    - Jokes fall flat
    + Karnak is entertaining hero.

The supposed bad guy is Ramsay Bolton who actually seems the most rational guy in the series, but he is painted as evil for wanting to abolish caste system and overthrowing the royal family (with few to none casualties).

Philosophy aside, the plot is just bland to the point of "I don't wanna watch it anymore", the characters' motivation is completely irrational and some characters that you might actually be interested in are there only to be killed for no apparent reason.

Style over substance when it comes to this series.
Stylish, good action & actors but poor character development & plot which makes it hard to enjoy. I quit after 2 episodes as I got bored & distracted, I normally enjoy such shows and prefer to finish any series I start.

Inhumans is a royal mess. Despite its 8 episode season, a lot of it just feels like filler and never gets your invested in the storyline. Maximus is portrayed well by Iwan Rheon but he doesn't get enough to do, and that can be said for most of the characters. Crystal is the worst character, coming off as annoying and entitled. This show should be avoided.

This show was excellent! This is also, a perfect example of why I don't listen to reviewers. I really like this show. Even the characters that they didn't have time to develop properly because their were only eight episodes like Crystal, they clearly set up for further development in the next season. You can tell that unlike a lot of shows like arrow where they are clearly making up the story-line as they go along they put in the effort to planed the plot of In-humans out ahead of time all the way for several seasons.
The only thing I can really complain about is they did such a good job making the bad guy- Maximus evil and twisted that it was hard for me to watch. Especially in the first couple episodes where it was about Maximus betraying everyone and taking over I got really angry. (not a spoiler he is like this practically from the beginning) Many people like a really screwed up bad guy, but for me I am going to have to avoid shows with Iwan Rheon in them. He does such a good job playing evil twisted characters it is more than i can take.
After I got through the first couple episodes everything else was Amazing! I especially liked how even in an eight episode season they where able to tie everything up in a really satisfying manner, with no cliffhanger at all, and yet still leave it open enough that you really, really want to see season two.

The writing is really bad, like really, really, bad! and I am only giving it a 2 because it's watchable and some of the actors are decent, and some of their plotlines are not the worst things in existence, but there are far better things to watch and I have no idea how shows like this even make into air

At no point during the two-hour premiere does the action choreography, the writing, or the monsoon of hilarious excuses for special effects serve to justify this show’s existence. Swan and Mount are stiff and joyless, although given the insipid dialogue they’re saddled with, who can blame them for wearing a look of constant constipation?

I’d like to say that Marvel’s Inhumans is so spectacularly awful, it’s worth tuning in just to witness the superhero train-wreck. But alas, Inhumans does not even yield sarcastic pleasures--it’s just bad. Bad in a dull way, bad in an irritating way. ... Marvel’s Inhumans is just inhumane.
