After enjoying season 1, season 2 has been a disappointment. The worst part of this episode was mostly about current day Siberia. Expand

Much better. The fiction side gets moving on this one and there's actual plot development worth following, plus it works together better with the documentary side, showing some very relevant and solvable problems/conflicts/risks that would characterize the early phase of Mars colonization. In contrast, S1 was mostly a relevant-but-boring history lesson combined with a relevant-but-useless advert for E.M.'s unproven concept of an interplanetary rocket. (I've seen enough unwarranted E.M. a**-k***ing everywhere else already, I don't need it in my Sci-Fi too, thanks.)

Sure, most of the actors carried over from S1 are still as bad as before, which makes most of the dramatic conversations hard to watch, sure the documentary sections are still too long and irritatingly shoved in between the fiction scenes (I skipped most of them; maybe I would've watched more if they had separated them to their own half of the episode), but other than that there's a very visible jump in quality, now I can really say I want to see more.

Horrible cringy show. FAR from realistic or based on any actual science. Poorly contrived problems and really bad decisions made just to add "drama" to the plot. They selectively get quotes from some famous people to support their anti-corporation narrative. And why do they even interview journalist and activists?? Those people are out of place and got more screen time than most of the actual scientist and engineers! It's also like the writers have never watched any sci-fi in their life! Expand

Man, what a hot mess. Nat Geo partnered with Greenpeace to create a "save the world" screed. I can't think of an organization with less credibility they could have hooked up with. Worse, they used creative editing to make it appear that NASA and Greenpeace are in cahoots too. Season 1 was great, season 2 was a shameless, fear-mongering propaganda piece. Don't waste your time.

Season 1 was interesting and fun to watch how humans could overcome the challenges of establishing a foothold on Mars. Unfortunately the second season turned into a political rant about climate change, corporate greed, activism, Greenpeace, and other leftist talking points. Sorry, I wanted science, not politics - did not make it past S2E2 and will watch no more.

Hands down worst show of 2018. Horrid plot and very little to do with Mars exploration. Less about science and engineering challenges and everything to do with activism and political agendas here on earth. It's a cheesy soap opera that happens to take place on Mars, written by people with no knowledge on actual science, physics, or engineering. We're only one episode in, but I can tell I'm not going to like this season as much as the extraordinary first season. And it's not really the show's fault. It's apparently inevitable that commerce and the private sector will always play a part in the pioneering story. It's a bummer. Great cast and great visuals however. I like the comparison to the arctic oil drillers. Go Shlumberger!

This series is so good, so prescient, so intricate in it's mapping out where we've been, where we're at, and where we're going as a species, as countrymen, and as tenants both here and the stars, it's difficult to put into words. This is one of the finest pieces of television that's every been created.

Best series ever. So realistic and accurate. Everyone should watch it! Season 2 is even more amazing. Made me cry. Highly recommend!

Absolute huge disappointment! Loved the first season, but will likely not watch anymore of the second season. The first season was about science, exploration and overcoming obstacles. Unfortunately, this second season is more about politics, exploitation and corporate greed. A series that was originally about science, exploration, has now become a bitter soap opera. Sorry!

I couldn't wait for this new season based on the first. Season 1 was very good BUT...……...

I can't believe Ron Howard had anything to do with this show. It's so far from anything he's ever produced in terms of quality and realism. Within 5 minutes watching Season 2, it became painfully obvious the show is not designed or written to offer "Real" scientific or technological information

Within 5 minutes watching Season 2, it became painfully obvious the show is not designed or written to offer "Real" scientific or technological information or perspective of how we will get to Mars, sustain ourselves and manage our environment.

Real science has taken a back seat, a far back seat to this show and has been replaced with cheesy melodramatic situations that try to support opinionated perspectives. The writers didn't even try to be subtle about vilifying the "Evil Corporate Enterprises" that also populate Mars.

Aside from endless advertising, the show smothers you with political statements and immediately establishes "Good Guy - Bad Guy" scenarios. It's laughable to see the writers have the so-called good guys (scientists) in green space suits and the evil corporate enterprise people in black and dark red space suits. I wouldn't even call this Science Fiction for fear of insulting the Science Fiction community. I'm betting Neil deGrasse is cringing over having some of his interview clips used in this amateurish written show.

It should be canceled until they get real scientists and engineers as technical advisers instead of people who write "Soap Operas". Audiences that want a melodrama or soap opera aren't going to watch anything about Space and Technology.

VERY DISSAPOINTING and actually borders on insulting the audience!
