Summary:
Makai Senki Disgaea (Netherworld Battle Chronicle: Disgaea) is an anime series based off of the hit video game by Nippon Ichi Software.
Angel Trainee Flonne is an assassin sent by Celestia to kill the Netherworld Overlord, King Krichevskoy. After mistaking him for his father, Flonne accidentally awakens Laharl, son of the Overlord, from a two-year slumber. The duo soon discover that Laharl's father had died already after choking on a dumpling. After meeting up with his father's former vassal, Etna, and her vassals the Prinnies, Laharl, accompanied by Flonne, traverses the Netherworld in an effort to locate the Demon Tome, an item the grants the possessor control over the Netherworld. Along the way, they will have to deal with the Earth Defense Force, consisting of Captain Gordon, Jennifer and the the robot Thursday, as well as assassins, the angels of Celestia, and demons of all kinds that seek the Overlord position for themselves.
Disgaea has been given 3 different variations, one for the game, anime, and manga. The manga is the most unique variation, with the second half of the story completely different from both the anime and game.
