Ms. Qualley acting is once again on point! The true naked reality of emotional abuse being showed in a show.

I don’t know what you all are talking about. This show is awesome. It’s like Star Wars meets Game of Thrones. The story is interesting and thought provoking, the acting is superb, and overall it comes across as a high quality, entertaining show with a lot of depth. Just my humble opinion. I’ve watched every episode and can’t wait for more.

Quailly seemed more focused on looking pretty than actually behaving like a character, harkening back to her disastrous role in Death Stranding. There was nothing about her performance that said she was a mother - she seemed like a Horror film actress: more concerned with looking sultry than acting, fitting as this was released in October.

Oh, but shes a Zoomer, so of course she will get praise for her sorry performance. Yet another show about Zoomers, casting Zoomers, and is as droll and every other Zoomer show (so, that means EVERY new show the last half-decade from Netflix). You’d think they’d run out of zoomers to cast, but nope they just keep getting handed shows on a silver platter despite having no talent.

I checked out some reviews as we began watching Maid. So far, it's excellent--but it's not about a poor girl who finds her way (to paraphrase an agglomeration of critiques). It's about a child of two alcoholics. Which explains everything about her experiences, her thinking, her nightmares, getting involved with her daughter's father, and her challenging life.

    One cannot truly understand

One cannot truly understand the story without comprehending alcoholism. Because that is what it's about: alcoholism.

The acting and writing is very good.
Margaret Qualley as Alex Russell (a young mother) is an excellent actor.
I see only good to better acting. I saw no acting less than very good. The individuals who did the casting and the directors should be congratulated. I could write about every actor (no matter how small their role) in this miniseries and point out how much fun it was to watch.

I feel no need to write further. Maid is a quality product that most people will recognize as among the best.

I like to notice difficult character portrayals that are challenging to pull-off and are done well:

Anika Noni Rose as Regina. She does an excellent job of pulling off the unaware, demanding, complaining, etc of Alex's wealthy client.

Raymond Ablack as Nate. His portrayal of the awkwardness and motivation of his character is excellent.

Rylea Nevaeh Whittet as Maddy (Alex and Sean's 3 year old daughter). You have to give credit to casting and child actor directing for her performance. I think of that as a very difficult thing to do well. It takes a lot of patience to pull it off.

In regard to the story and plot:
One of the things that I felt was somewhat off is that it would seem the most obvious "gig" that Alex would take to given her circumstances would be a job as a waiter. And, she had previously worked as a waiter. I didn't catch why she ended up in housekeeping instead of in the restaurant industry.

Fantastic on every level--acting, writing, directing, soundtrack. An important important story told with heart and humor and honesty.

Has touches of greatness, which was enough to keep me watching the entire season. I had trouble reconciling different ways the protagonist was shown. I don't mean she was simply wise but naive, or that it was trauma manifested in behavior, it was more jarring and inconsistent than that.

It also had inconsistent messaging regarding emotional abuse, where it was portrayed as on-the-nose and villainous from one character and much more innocent from another.

Despite these dissonances, still a well-acted and compelling watch, with some creative edits and engaging story.

Trying too hard to be a poverty porn series. Performances are average to farcical. What happened to one of my favorite actresses?

Dobry serial o życiu. Jak coś się zaczyna pieprzyć to z reguły parami, albo i trójkami. Po za tym kapitalna rola Andie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've watched two episodes only so far, it's an interesting and well told story, most of the scenes that has to do with the main subject (the domestic violence thing) are convincing, but some background stuff is embarrassing to watch, such as the maid's lunatic mother and her lame boyfriend, her father's behaviour, the super rich lady who's a Frankenstein of bad clichés, also, who writes 37.5$ checks? For unauthentic characters we have Marvel, it's a good series, but details are important Expand

The acting is great, cinematography is also surprisingly beautiful. The kid is cute as a button. It’s a dysfunctional family. You have to watch a few episodes to really understand each member’s character. Qualley’s acting, especially in the court scene, I forgot I was looking at Mama from DS… she IS Alex.

I absolutely love this show. I love it. The ability for the writer and actors to address such serious issues such as domestic violence, poverty and mental illness is unparalleled. The a ring is amazing and the roles and character building is amazing. You laugh, you cry. This is a must see. Gripping right to the end.

Really enjoyed this and couldn’t stop watching it. It’s funny that mother and daughter in real life are acting as mother and daughter in the show. Very emotional and a short running series.

Qualley and Metzler give us a heroine too smart to ever mistakenly believe that the abuse is her fault, that her circumstances cannot be overcome and that if the supportive strangers surrounding her could do it, that there’s any reason she won’t be able to either.

[Alex and Paula] are each other’s worst enemies and greatest advocates, and watching them dance through their complicated love for one another is one of the most enriching experiences of the fall TV season. Like so much in Maid, you don’t just observe what’s happening to them. You feel like you’re in it right along with them.

There are many moments found within Netflix’s limited series “Maid” where I just said, “Wow.” It wasn’t strictly the moving performances from an all-around talented cast, nor was it the empathetic and complex relationships that develop and change over 10 episodes. It was the overall package, one that blossomed into a show that left me laughing as often as I was crying.
