There was a movie (The Wizard of Lies I think) that did explained a bit better the human tragedy of his family. The episodes explain very well, how the Ponzi scheme did work. And also, you get an historical context on how it started, evolved and who was involved. Extremely well edited and documented. Just a bit of repetition at times. A mix of real footage and actors. The presentation is by narration and witness. I give the series 82%. I really like how it is compared to a Shakespeare tragic play in the end. About what it did to his family and it's victim. Almost unreal. Expand

There are some good interviews as well, and I like that. I think it likely could have been reduced to just one two hour movie, though. The only thing that really dropped this from a 7-8 down to more like a 5-6 is the over dramatic reenactments. The quick cut, slow motion to super zoom with sudden dramatic music over and over again is distracting. On top of that, why is the lighting so cliche in all of these types of documentaries? In one scene, they are in a supposed business tower office full of people, and it looks as though the lights are off it is so dark. Reminds me of why I couldn't watch the CSI shows anymore, because their office was always dark with green or blue mood lighting behind the actors. If the setting, music, or other creative decisions takes you out of the story, you've made the wrong choice. The topic is fascinating, I just think these kind of documentaries with cliche creative choices are done for me personally. Expand
