    Despite the distracting reenactments, Madoff: The Monster of Wall Street imparts a lot of good information about Madoff’s psyche, the structure of his Ponzi scheme, and why people invested in it in the first place.

    It’s all very entertaining, what with the New York Stock Exchange-style display graphics running along the bottom of the screen, slow-mo actor re-enactments, and requisite shots of apoplectic brokers on the trading floor. But I think I’m done with being entertained by the true crimes of unaccountable men.

    "The Monster of Wall Street" will be, to no one's surprise, a complex series and downbeat story, but one that is told with enormous style and narrative energy.
