    This show is rarely funny. It strongly resembles Robot Chicken, but doesn't come close to being as clever. Also, every sketch based off a movie usually revolves around some sort of similarity in the titles (e.g. Fast Hive, Rioa, Thomas the Unstoppable Tank Engine, Pirates and a Pair of Tweens, etc.). I'm sure kids will love it, but the things that are meant to be funny are things they shouldn't even understand. Most of the jokes are more adult related than child (much like Spongebob), but they aren't amusing either, making the show completely pointless. Unless the children watching have seen PG-13/R rated movies, they'll only be laughing at the bright flashy images, much like a baby with a rattle.… Expand

    This is some the worst kind of programming that can get on the air. It's extremely immature and unfunny and it always tries to hard. The writers seem to like making fun of like ten things at once except the irony in it is they imply that certain other shows they're parodying are bad, which is probably the funniest part of the entire show.

The once-great network has spawned several cult-classic shows such as Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy, Dexter's Lab, and Courage the Cowardly Dog.     Cartoon Network is undeniably one of the best popular television channels from the late '90s. The once-great network has spawned several cult-classic shows such as Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy, Dexter's Lab, and Courage the Cowardly Dog. Like many long-running networks, CN has severely declined in quality in recent years. As a kid who loved CN in it's heyday, I hated to see it deteriorate to it's current state. But, with the surprisingly high quality of two new CN hits, Adventure Time and Regular Show, I had hope that Cartoon Network would return to making shows with more creativity and more clever and intelligent humor.

    All of that hope was IMMEDIATELY washed away when I saw MAD.

    Based off the popular magazine of the same name, MAD is an animated sketch-comedy show somewhat aimed at the teen demographic. Unlike the much superior magazine, each of the show's attempts at "comedy" are a chore to sit through. Half of the sketches feature jokes that are either painful-to-watch gags about crap, boogers, or pee, or have already been told many, many times before. For example, you've probably heard a joke frome somewhere in which the Devil sneezes, someone says "bless you", and then he either runs away in terror, or he dies, or something along the lines of that. MAD told this joke, and treated it like no ones ever heard it before. When it's not making wretched jokes like that, MAD wastes a large majority of it's 11 minute run time making forced pop culture references and jokes. The first and last 2-3 minutes of each episode are wasted with a sketch that is basically a pun that sounds like two things from either film, television, or music combined together. For example, one sketch, titled "arThor", is about Russel Brand's portrayal of Arthur (from the 2011 remake of the film of the same name) as Thor, the poplar Marvel Comics superhero. The setups for these segments and the jokes they spawn are contrived and flat. And somehow, the show has been able to keep going for three years and three seasons. The voice acting, while nothing special, suffers greatly from the horrid writing; not even the talent of voice actors such as Tara Strong or Gilbert Gottfried are able to bring any life to the lifeless script.
    Although MAD is an absolutely abysmal show, it has one positive trait. Several unique animation styles are used in each episode. One sketch may be computer animated (just an example-the CGI is really ugly), the next is hand-drawn, and the next one may be stop-motion animation. I appreciate the show for using so many art styles and animation techniques in order to keep its look fresh, but the animation does not make up for the awful humor and heavy reliance on popular culture.

    -Varied animation techniques
    -(mostly) Unique and colorful art styles

    Cons:
    -Over-reliance on pop culture
    -Stale, immature jokes
    -Awful puns
    -Everything about the writing and jokes

    I would say that most kids 10 and up could be able to handle MAD. If you want a show that has intelligent humor, a lasting impact, or anything worth seeing, please do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Picture Robot Chicken and Stick Figures on Crack. It's youtube quality humor. If you like over-the-top stupidity, the making fun of celebreties, word-play, comic style visuals, and similar... give this a shot. I lauged so hard. They will poke fun at everything... Keeping up with the Kardashians (Keeping up with the Car-Crash-ians), Justin Bieber (Build-A-Bieber), 101 Dalmations and the 2012 conspiracy (2012 Dalmations)... it's hilarious... but NOT for kids younger than... say... 12 years old.… Expand

    First off, this show contains content not for younger children. It is more for the teen age group. It is funny but it greatly resembles Adult Swim's Robot Chicken, but still is modern funny and up to date with everything thats funny now. It is the creativeness that makes this show truly funny.

    Its odd, its funny, its crazy, its mad. There are a lot of words to describe this show. But is it acctually worth watching? Well i look at it like you have to have a crazy and over the top sence of humor. If your in to stupid comedy like i am thin you'll love this show. Even if you don't watch cartoons you should still give it a chance. You might like the fun skits the come up with. TheIts odd, its funny, its crazy, its mad. There are a lot of words to describe this show. But is it acctually worth watching? Well i look at it like you have to have a crazy and over the top sence of humor. If your in to stupid comedy like i am thin you'll love this show. Even if you don't watch cartoons you should still give it a chance. You might like the fun skits the come up with. The show makes fun of alot of other shows from nick, disney channel, and also child oriented stars from justin beaver to the jonas brothers. I belive its one of the best shows on cartoon network.… Expand

    Una serie excelente, es una patada en el trasero para los Hollywoodenses y los famosos en general, un humor muy hilarante y distintas formas de animacion, la hacen una de las mejores obras que ha hecho CN en los ultimos tiempos.

    This feels like a sketch comedy. Its funny tone of humor and extremely weird parodies make it worth your time. The show however, almost seems as inappropriate as Robot Chicken.

    The show is like Family guy but without the wrapper of being a sitcom.
    The slight flaw is it can't seem to decide weather it's aimed at kids or adults.
    There are some scary funny scenes such as Zombi which are more adult orientated then there will be a totally childish joke aimed at a four year old. That sad there are more hits than misses but the misses bring the show down. The same    The show is like Family guy but without the wrapper of being a sitcom.

    I feel this show would have been better as an adult orientated show, you can tell the writers want to do something else with the source material but just fizzle out when the jokes should get going or more adult orientated.    … Expand

    MAD is definitely not a great as it’s adult cousin, But it’s still fun to watch from time to time.
