Mad Men was one the best shows, dare I say, ever. As it approaches an end, which as far as I can tell can't yet be anticipated, it's not trying to regroup loose ties or do what other shows do. Something about this show is extremely good, and I can't say exactly what it is. I guess that's why it's so appealing. One thing: writers, please, please, show us a masterful ending for this masterful show.

Mad Men never ceases to amaze me. The final season, although it hasn't been full of jaw dropping (we have 3 episodes so far) moments, it has been having a slow, effective built, where you can clearly see the fate our characters on the show are about to have.

The performances are stellar as usual, cinematography stunning as well. If I could only say something I disliked on the show, that

The performances are stellar as usual, cinematography stunning as well. If I could only say something I disliked on the show, that would be Diana's character. While she is an interesting reflection on Don's personality (and his mother's), I believe she was too enigmatic, full of secrets. That was somewhat uninteresting. Still, looking foward to the next episodes. Can't believe the ending is near... :/

Now that I've seen the final episode of Mad Men, I feel secure in ranking it as one of the greatest television dramas of all times. The wonderful writing, the compelling characters, the sense of time and place that characterize the universe Matt Weiner created never let me down during the eight years I watched this show. If you haven't seen it, you should.

like @dankeny said I think the hitchhiker will do to Don Draper what Dick Whitman did to the original Don draper. I'm not necessarily sure if he'll die though. I could see them zooming in on him chilling alone drinking like a frozen drink on a beach alone in California, maybe using the name Dick Whitman when buying a drink.

This series has been one of the best I've ever seen, up through the end of season 5. But in season 6 it went off the rails, or became afraid of its own trajectory and retreated. But in season 6 it went off the rails, or became afraid of its own trajectory and retreated. Don Draper was set up to vault into totally unknown territory at the end of season 5, but season 6 did not follow through, and suddenly the whole theme of the show the whole thing about Don's identity has become irrelevant. It is so strange. I'm not sure why the writers retreated, but instead of launching into where the story has brought them, the writers have backtracked and backpedalled and most of the show in season 6 and season 7 is nothing more than repeating things that have happened before in the series. This has been a real let down and is kind of shocking. Just pretend the series ends at the end of season 5, and it will seem like a really excellent series, and you can imagine what happened following season 5 rather than watch the sad truth. As of my writing this there are three episodes left, so maybe something amazing is going to happen, but I tend do doubt it. Expand

I think that at this point the end of the series is pretty transparent. I think that despite the hair shielding some of his face, the hitchhiker is a dead ringer (pun intended) for Don. It has been said that the series began with a lie and it will end in lie. Something will happen to end Don's life and this hitchhiker will take over his identity. You heard it here first.

With the writing, acting and direction continuing to reach the heights viewers have come to expect from the show this is a fitting end to the story of Don Draper and the rest of the Mad Men cast. One of TVs all time great drama series.

Whoa! How many things has been happening! How people in series has changed! How things has changed! Here is Mad Men's genius, series makes watcher thinks that nothing happens, when in truth everything happened. One thing is a fact: If you watched entire Mad Men series and is still the same person, you've watched it wrong. Watch it again, even because it's worthwhile.

Far from the best season in the show, however this provides a very satisfying and emotional closure to Don Draper's story. I feel the last three episodes could of been handled much better, however they weren't awful, the road trip could of easily been shortened to one episode.

Overall, a very good season to an amazing TV show. I'll miss you Mad Men.

Thank you masked man, from all of us to all of you. It is 4 am, woke out of a dream and thought of you after watching the last episode of Mad Men last night. I had bailed from the series somewhere around the middle of the 5th season, bitterly disappointed with the collapse of what had been perhaps the best art I had experienced in that medium. Well, I'm glad I went back, for old time sake, and gave you another chance. You did not disappoint. You now reside in that place that seems to be where the brain meets the gut, writhing in that crazy feedback loop of thought and emotion called humanity, along with Magic Mountain, Shooting an Elephant, Lem's Solaris, Tarkovsky's Rublev, and other chimeras. Matthew Weiner clearly intended for us to contemplate the mortality of his TV masterpiece when he wove Peggy Lee’s bleak 1969 ballad through Sunday’s midseason premiere.

As always, this episode of Mad Men had entertaining moments.... Weiner wants you to realize that, over time, a wiseguy like Roger inevitably becomes insufferable. The problem is, removing such fun from Mad Men only makes the overall experience of watching Mad Men more joyless.

I could watch Roger (ever-dapper John Slattery) fire people all day long (Sunday’s surprise firing is an epic one), but Don’s cryptic conversations with strangers can feel staid and scholarly.... And then--herein lies the addictive nature of the show--the action pauses for just a moment, the acting thrums with tension, and you feel satisfied that you have been a good student.
