    This is a wholly mediocre show. The twists are predicable and the acting is as uncompelling as the premise.

    I wish this show was smarter, I can't fault the acting or the cinematography but holy hell is the plot dumb. I kept watching hoping to be surprised by a really clever twist but every character trope and plot point is cliche. I found myself more frustrated than elated at the decisions the supposedly clever protagonist makes. Maybe my expectations of what the show is supposed to be areI wish this show was smarter, I can't fault the acting or the cinematography but holy hell is the plot dumb. I kept watching hoping to be surprised by a really clever twist but every character trope and plot point is cliche. I found myself more frustrated than elated at the decisions the supposedly clever protagonist makes. Maybe my expectations of what the show is supposed to be are wrong, but the master of disguise, gentlemen thief, and smarter than Herlock Sholmes aka Sherlock Holmes these characters are not.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While the first season was gripping, witty and intelligent, the second is heavy handed, predictable and quite often silly. In the first season, it made sense to have flash backs retelling the events, because the tricks were intelligent and complicated, now the flashbacks show the boringly obvious.

    The specific charm of the tales by Leblanc and the first 2/3 of the first season was its unusual trust in intelligence and wit against brute force, but it ruined it by not letting go of the characters and settings.

    The acting by the main characters is still fine, but even the best actor would be overburdened by so many contradicting premises: the extremely privileged gentleman from the books becomes a black son of a man who died in prison (artistic bringer of justice-arc). That would be challenging enough, but they have to add: he is in love with the mother of his son, but he betrayed her repeatedly in his life and she doesn't trust him any longer (redemption arc). And there is the revenge story, because there is this evil man who is the reason why his father died in prison (revenge arc), And there is the love story between him and the daughter of the evil man (love story 2), and there is the story of the police man who is the only one who detects Lupin and there are the heists and tricks and show downs....

    This is the usual recipe of (not only) Netflix series: Many plot lines to switch between, because they don't trust the attention span of the viewers, and many extreme emotions, because more is better. And usually non of the story lines is finished when the show is cancelled after the second or third season, because they don't have stories to tell.    … Expand

    Lupin is a great show. There is plenty of action and mystery, and fun to figure out how he plans it all in present time and flashbacks. Omar Sy is terrific, as is the whole cast. Sure, we know it's him in disguise,
    but who cares, it is so much fun. I'm ready for another season!

    More like a continuation of S01... But its still a GEM!
    No loop-holes.. No faults... Everything works perfectly.. Dont mind the rac*st user critic below that gave it 2 point!

    The face of the lead actor is too irritating to continue to watch this. I wish there was somebody else on the lead.

    Lots of fun. Enjoyable Paris setting and good characters makes this a great escape.

    Good acting by great actors in a great, suspense full crime/adventure show. binge watching worth!

    This season picks up straight after where things were left at the end of season 1 and follows in the same vein. A suspenseful, well paced show with some clever plot twists.

    can be watched but the subject matter is quite familiar. I like this actor but I watched the first season a few times.

    Lupin Part 2 feels at some level like it's always running forward at the breathless pace I appreciated about the first part. But if you look close enough, as the end-of-episode twists keep imploring us to do, it starts to feel like a treadmill, a "one step forward, two steps back" storytelling crutch. ... Ultimately, these two impulses — sparkly plot fun and deeper character pathos — fuse together and result in a final episode that easily impresses as one of the best of the still-young series.

    The more serious dramatic hairpin turns of Part 2 ring a little false. “Lupin” isn’t a show with enough commitment to make Assane’s exploits work on a level beyond mischief. When things veer toward potential legitimate bloodshed, the show feels out of its depth. It’s a shame, because “Lupin” works at its most whimsical.
