It's quite boring. Everybody is a stereotype. There's basically no character development at all except of the main character who gets a pretty lazy super hero background story. If they were at least a little clever it might be fun but everything is so predictable.

Extremely poor character development, trying to compensate with mild charisma from Omar Sy. Extremely silly and pointless at times, with obvious potholes and impossible situations that are deeply off-putting. Completely boring and cliché backstory with black and grey flashbacks. Very predictable an overall, bad.

Typical Netflix fare. One-dimensional stereotypical characters, silly cartoonesque plot, completely unbelievable yet predictable. That paid American "professionnal" critics consider this above average, let alone good, would be unfathomable unless one knew the artistic and philosphical degenerescence in that country.

It's good, but not quite sure why the critic reviews are trying to place it as a contender for best shows of 2021 unless they're expecting a pretty dreary year for TV. It's smart but not as smart as it wants you to think it is, and it's certainly no Sherlock. I'd give it a 7.5 if Metacritic allowed half points, but it's not an 8, so I'm defaulting it to a 7. Good production values, decent acting, pretty tight, and relatively well written, if not exactly revelatory. Some of the plot twists are pretty mundane and predictable, frankly. If you don't go in expecting a masterpiece you'll have a good time. Expand

The obvious flaws between reality and the show are large. It's too made for TV and unbelievable for me.

The fourth episode is so bad that just made me want to stop watch the whole series.

In essence it is compelling but its tone at times makes it cringe worthy. Worthy of seeing Part 2 but only just.

Very poor, no realism, Omar Sy plays like Omar Sy in other words it's mediocre as usual with French productions, the scenario is predictable after 10 min of viewing, the characters are not credible, stereotypes and clichés are the watchwords of this series

Encore une appropriation culturelle. Encore des acteurs qui jouent comme des pieds. Ça devient gênant.

I found the show to be fun, surprising and entertaining. It starts off as a good heist show, but turns into a great heist show! Some may say that it is not as "smart" as Sherlock, but in my opinion the show doesn't strive for that anyways. I can guarantee that the vast majority of people will enjoy this. The show is in French, but five minutes into the first episode you won't mind reading subtitles at all. There is an option to watch it dubbed as well for those who prefer it.

Only watched episode one so far, it's fun to watch and intresting, but packed full of stereotypes and the propaganda / politics of this series shows a lot, constantly being shoved in your face so you know "white and rich bad poor and black good" the story it sets up is fairly intresting though and it's quite well done so i think it gets a bit too much hate than it deserves from userOnly watched episode one so far, it's fun to watch and intresting, but packed full of stereotypes and the propaganda / politics of this series shows a lot, constantly being shoved in your face so you know "white and rich bad poor and black good" the story it sets up is fairly intresting though and it's quite well done so i think it gets a bit too much hate than it deserves from user reviews, while i agree that it absolutely gets bias in its critic revierws due to its politics

Not bad, not awesome, it's a classic "black man w/ politics" twist on the classic Lupin and Lupin III formula, but luckily unlike other versions of that "twist" it doesn't ruin any pre-existing sagas and it's enjoyable to watch, so i like it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

A clever heist/crime drama that doesn't just get by on clever plot twists but builds a solid backstory to help give the characters and plot some substance.

I found the plot to be a bit simple and cliche but it was still a good watch because of an interesting and charismatic main character. I wish we had more episodes to see more sophistication and character development.

A little bit silly (IE so many holes/unrealistic moments), but still a whole lot of fun. Looking forward to season two. If they’re smart, they’ll only two seasons.

Kay, an English writer who worked on the BBC America series Killing Eve, brings to Lupin some of his previous show’s impudent spirit, as well as a willingness to tweak its audience’s expectations.

The performances and the production — it has that particularly European quality of feeling natural even when it gets stylish — keep the series warm even as the plot is made up of Rube Goldberg contraptions that require everything to go right at just the right time and for human psychology to be 100% predictable.

The story bounces around in time, not only showing us Assane’s childhood before and after Babakar’s death, but revisiting aspects of each heist afterward to reveal exactly how he pulled it off. (In that respect, Leterrier’s experience directing the first Now You See Me film comes in very handy.) This kind of fractured narrative could easily get confusing, but the story itself has so much energy that it all flows together nicely.
