Really liked the show. It is not 10/10 perfect but it has heart. Sometimes it feels a little rush so if season 2 its happening I wish they made longer episodes. All the actors do a good job. And I am venjie all the way.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Love, Victor is my 2nd favorite new show of 2020, one of my favorite drama TV shows of all time, and one of my favorite TV shows of all time. This show is just so beautiful, sincere, touching, and funny and it makes me so happy to see the continuous increase of gay love stories at the forefront of TV and movies and LGBTQ+ representation in TV and movies. The chemistry between the cast just feels so natural and authentic. The performances from Michael Cimino (he gives such an emotionally powerful and believable performance) and Rachel Hilson were phenomenal, they both gave deep, powerful, and touching performances. Anthony Turpel, Isabella Ferreira, Bebe Wood, Ana Ortiz, Mason Gooding, Nick Robinson, Beth Littleford, and Ali Wong gave pretty excellent performances as well. The writing was exceptional, I totally cried when Victor came out to Felix. The character development with Victor was remarkable. The soundtrack and music featured in the show were outstanding. The makeup and hairstyling was stupendous especially on Rachel Hilson, Bebe Wood, Isabella Ferreira, Abigail Killmeier, Anthony Turpel, Ana Ortiz, and George Sear. The costumes were great especially on Bebe Wood, Isabella Ferreira, Michael Cimino, Rachel Hilson, and Ana Ortiz. This first season was an A+ and cannot wait for season two. Expand

Série mais realista em comparação com o filme, o victor é o retrato de muitas pessoas que enfrentam o dilema da revelação, mas claro com uma boa pitada de clichê adolescente para contrabalancear o drama da história.

Wow, it looks like all of the homophobes and Hispanophobes decided to review-bomb this great show. I find it very interesting that none of the 332 users who gave this show a negative review bothered to write a review to explain why they hate it. I found it every bit as charming as Love, Simon and I hope it gets renewed for a second season.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I ended up liking this a lot more than I was expecting. I think a lot of people have higher expectations on how exactly they want queer content to be, but I actually think this show (as well as Love Simon) does a very good job as a LGBT alternative to your typical teen romcom (clichés and all).

I wasn't really feeling it in the first couple of episodes and you could definitely see that they pushed back on a number of situations to stay within the Disney brand "restrictions", but I think the show got gradually better as it went on, and by episode 5 (Victor's sweet 16), I was totally invested. I have to say that they hit the jackpot with Michael Cimino. Not only do I feel like his "quiet" performance really works for the character, but he's also such a charming presence and has such great chemistry with pretty much everyone in the cast (Benji, Mia, Felix, his whole family...) that him being Victor was a big reason why the show worked for me. It's really hard not getting invested and rooting for him. Actually, the whole cast is pretty great, with them switching between comedy and drama quite well when their characters went beyond the initial stereotypes. The only character I wish they had developed more was Benji, as they placed him too much outside of the group. At one point I even forgot he was a fellow student at Creekwood High, since we saw him so little in that setting. I think they deliberately chose to portray him from Victor's perspective, like being this sort of mysterious "dream boy", and I know they wanted to focus on Simon as a mentor, but I felt like it was a lost opportunity not to have Benji being more active in helping Victor figure out himself. I'm sure we'll get a lot more of Benji/Victor's relationship on season 2 though (if we get one), considering they'll go through Victor's coming out together.

Overall, I feel like they finished the first season really well. The last 3 episodes were my favorites and had so many great moments, including my 3 favorite ones from the show (Simon's friends supporting Victor, Victor coming out to Felix, and the bench scene between Victor and Benji). The last episode was so full of clichés, but they still managed to make it exciting for me.

It's hard to judge since we don't get numbers for streaming shows, but at this point, I would be very surprised if we don't get a second season considering how the overall response to the show has been so far. They have so much to explore on season 2 and I'm totally here for it!

A sanitized saccharine spinoff that plays it safe in every way possible. It's disney like sincerity and affable humor make this a disappointing addition to queer media. Michael Camino is a boring actor who brings nothing to his performance but tbh given the quality of the cast it's to no surprise.

Nowhere near as engaging or funny or even charming as the movie, which I loved. The lead is Not a strong enough of an actor to carry the show.

Even when you empathize with Victor's growing pains, you may wish it didn't feel so much like a life lesson. [22 Jun - 5 Jul 2020, p.76]
