This special is provided a decent amount of laughs but, for my money, this is far from being Louis C.K’s best work. As ever he isn’t afraid to approach potentially controversial subjects but he just never quite finds the same rhythm and timing that he’s managed in past routines.

As a fan of his prior work, my score represents my overall reaction, half the jokes hit the other half was actually painful to watch. Not sure if his well deserved success has unfortunately tainted his observations on life and relationships. Hopefully this was just a hiccup in an other wise great stand up career.

I have watched every LCK stand up special 5-10 times each, I am huge fan. That being said after 2 views of this last effort shows decline from his peak "Oh My God" which was brilliant.

The material in 2017 was weak, boring, all said before over years by other comedians. This is what I think is happening with these NF deals, they give them a lot of money but a short schedule, in this

This is what I think is happening with these NF deals, they give them a lot of money but a short schedule, in this case it felt that LCK had half of special worked out which he will save for his 2nd effort but rushed this first one out because it was a part of the deal to hit a date.

100% a guess but it feels that way to someone that studies LCK, I have to assign some reasoning for the drop off even the first bit about abortion could have been tied to his daughters growing up and get closer to the age where he has to worry about that, and other personal ties that seem to be missing from every joke.

The lack of personal ties makes the entire show feel bland, boring and same as other comedy specials.

I will watch it again in the hope of finding something I liked about this effort.

i'm a huge fan of Louis but this is awful. Absolutely charmless. No warmth at all. I made it through abortion, suicide, ISIS and Christianity and gave up around the 20th minute after not one laugh.

If he wanted to go hard then he has to have points that are better made than "abortion - it's not a black and white issue". Personally I like the stuff about Louis himself and his life. But

In Louis CK's new special he tends to move at a choppy pace, never getting his heart rate up or pushing towards exciting conclusions. He lets his stomping manner through delicate topics do the heavy lifting for him. Watched the whole thing, start to finish. In a passive sense, consider myself a Louis CK fan. Wish I laughed even once. Didn't.

    Not even one time. Jeez.

I didn't enjoy this special, even though I very much liked his preceding stand ups. The jokes are all new, but not as polished. For instance, the opening joke about equating abortion to taking a **** felt too extended, and poorly thought out, as if he was trying to force it too much.

I remember one time Louis talked about the influence George Carlin had on him, and when Louis asked him

I remember one time Louis talked about the influence George Carlin had on him, and when Louis asked him how he was able to churn out new jokes and ideas so successfully, George told him that he 'started over' each time, from nothing. And what resulted was brilliance, and when you saw his performance you would think "this is original, this is something he really believes in, and has put a lot of his effort into". That's what Louis CK was at Bacon theater.

In contrast, in Louis CK 2017, it seems as if he went back to his old pre-George-Carlin-inspiration methods. Instead of reinventing himself and creating memorable funny stories, I think he seemed to have taken the qualities of his past success and exaggerated them, like he was trying to reproduce something rather than make something new. This really isn't his best work.

It is really sad to see Louis CK not funny.

Compared for example with his masterpiece at Beacon Theater in 2011, this one nowhere near. I think Louis needs to take a break for some time.

Is he a Mexican, Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic, Christian, Gay, Straight, Bisexual, Conservative, Liberal? Is he a writer, director, actor, or comic in his heart of hearts? I'm a fan and still not sure of any of those things. I'm sure he's smart and funny though. One of his best specials.

This is the first time I have watched Louis and I must say it was a giant disappointment. A joyless humorless presentation with no rapport with the audience. The audience constantly laughed as though they were an automatic laugh machine conditioned by their expectations. I found nothing funny and cut it off after 40 minutes. Give me Chappelle any day.

2017 is a return to form after his previous specials, Oh My God and Live at the Comedy Store, which were funny but didn't reach Louis-level greatness. 2017 is one of his sharpest sets with well-crafted bits and clever one-liners. However, your mileage may vary; a lot of people may be turned off by the darkness of his bits on abortion and suicide. For me, I enjoyed it all. This was utterly disgusting. We get it, Louis, you're a New York liberal. The rest of the world doesn't want to hear a comedy special about a woman being allowed to kill babies because "THEY'RE IN DER BAJAYJAY LOL XDDDDDDD"

This guy's lost the plot. I wish I hadn't watched it, as I previously liked Louis CK.

I'm always afraid when CK puts out a new stand up special that it's going to be a disappointment; only because he has always proved to be so funny and so authentic, that at some point it's going to fade away. Happy to say, he is still on a superb role. The ability he has to churn out new jokes is so impressive and to be able to craft them so well is amazing to me. C.K.’s return to the stage showcases the confidence, charisma, and unflinching opinions you’ve come to love, and his material remains surprisingly off-kilter.

It’s an impressive return--and a further indication that the hour-long comedy special is an art form with plenty of life left in it.

A lot of this material is hilarious, but it’s hard not to be struck by how dire much of it is.
