Another boring effort from marvel. I'm quite impressed by how many things Disney have managed to ruin recently. Fire the damn writers!!!!

It was one of the worst things I've ever seen in my life, I've never seen a script so lost in time, they tried to put together a puzzle that only created more doubts than answers, apparently everything will have to be explained next season, although it seemed that was not scheduled. I hope the screenwriters have watched "Silver Surfer" or "What If" to make a decent script.

Loki is a very mediocre series with very bad dialouge at times and a very boring main plot so far. I do like the plot of Loki finding out what happens to him in the future and Owen Wilson is great, but that's about it.

The first episode was really interesting and set up a lot of ideas that could be promising for the series. The second episode followed up on some of those, but started losing steam. By the third episode, the show is lost, has little mystery, and absolutely nothing happens.

Interesting, but found myself wandering off during most of this episode. Lots and lots of exposition getting up to speed on the TVA, but not enough, I dunno, funny, I guess. Will tune in again next week to see where this is going, but it was a bit of a downer tbh

Watch two episode so far and i am trowing in the towel.
Its to slow for my taste, and dialogue just bad at times.
I don't like any of the characters, not even Loki.

Keep expecting something in line with the movies, but Disney keeps pushing out this half baked goo.

The problem is the story this show is pushing from this episode alone invalidates every part of the MCU's story. The villains aren't evil, the heroes aren't good, everything is just a predetermined straight line of events that will be repeated by the TVA until the events turn out how they want. Tony Stark didn't make his suit because he wanted to escape the cave and become a hero, he made it and did all that because some interdimensional space lizards would have him melted for not following their preordained series of events. Disney is really doing absolutely everything they can to ruin the MCU including trying to retcon every prior movie to be completely insignificant.

I believe, the premise for the Time Variant Authority needed more of an introduction to make us understand the importance of why God of Mischief is a menace ultimately. It gets reduced to some cartoon depiction and then an agent whose real motives aren't known enough. The cheesy humor at times induces cringeworthy scenes and thus scaling back a bit would have worked more in favor. But since this is a universe that has brought the likes of Ragnarok, it would not be surprising a bit, if this gets the similar nod. It obviously fails to work for me as a viewer of a comic book movie or TV content. On an overall, the pilot does not rest on a strong foundation but there is potential for the series to pick up from its strengths and and improve upon shortcomings in the coming episodes. I would gave a 6 for now. Expand

Rating a show 2 episodes in is about as dumb as judging a book after chapter 1, users. Hold your tongue, let it breathe and play out before judging it. This blink and what’s next culture is gonna be the death of all of us. These are the same dummies who said Wandavision was boring because it was in black and white

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first episode of Loki was dull. The jokes do not land well, and the purported twists are forced subversion. For example, the drawer full of Infinity Stones being used as paper weights is stupid. This means that the impact of these Infinity Stones are next to nothing. It's probably used to make the TVA a powerful entity, but the Infinity Stones are the origins of the universe made into concentrated ingots. Think about it! The origins of the universe are paperweights! What does that mean for all the future movies and shows, not to mention the past shows? Meaningless. This is but one example of this insipid show. Tom Hiddleston is doing his best, and he is the only reason to watch this, but the Loki character is watered down with dumb jokes and lackluster writing. Owen Wilson sucks in this role as the one playing the "straight man", not the buffoon. Everyone else is not memorable at all. You only remember TH and barely Owen Wilson. The ending "cliffhanger" shows the variant Loki who is obviously female. I don't mind that "twist", but the story and writing better be good. Otherwise, it's just a "Hey, it's a female Loki!" "Ha ha, the writers are so clever!" I am being sarcastic. The show and story line are very transparent and uninteresting. There is no tension, no stakes, no impact. We all know the real Loki dies in Infinity War, a Loki who has been through a redeeming arc. This variant Loki is a whatever. This show is like the Sky Tram at Disneyland, slowly moving across the park, and it's only purpose is getting us to the next area. It's a ride, but a boring, slow, plodding one. Expand

Omg. I feared it would be bad, judging by the analyses I'd heard today. But it was even worse. Even the acting from the actor I love (TH) was half-hearted. Besides the idiocy of a time authority effing everything up, it was just damn boring. They've turned the action-packed MCU into psychoanalysis. Disney has the touch of death on every franchise they touch.

Anything that needs to happpen will, because the director said so, and this has now been retconned as having always been the case for the MCU. Nothing that we saw previously was due to characters making choices. Instead a bunch of aliens had already arbitrarily decided that you MUST do something in a specific way, to suit their purposes. All style, no substance, and the universal destruction of the franchise. Black Widow sacrificed herself for what this abomination of a show turn into a glorified paperweight! They actually thought it was funny, but the repercussions are total. Nothing matters in the MCU any longer.

Then there is Loki. Remember the one from Avengers that was intelligent, cunning, and capable? Even though this Loki is from the end of that movie, they decided to make him stpuid, bumbling, and useless. The writers could not be bothered to review his powers, so they did not even know that he is the master of illusion, and could not be bothered to think about what he could do with the Tesseract. Instead he tries to act like Thor and just punch his way out of a confrontation, even though they clearly have advanced technology and power. No nuance at all. From Loki's perspective he was just Hulk-smashed for similar arrogance, so there is no way he would want to fight anyone at this time.

Then we get to the timenazis who will melt you "if you started an uprising, or were just late for work". If this were being carried out by aliens the sociopathic nature of such an off hand remark would be plausible, but coming from a human just reminds you that similar writers were trying to make a murderer and terrorist sympathetic in their last failed show (FatWS). Also the timenazis are omni-powerful when convienent, and then pathetic and easy to defeat when convienent. How this is possible when they can rewind time was apparently too much of an ask for the writers.

The Loki show is BOTH The Last Jedi & Rise of Skywalker combined in what it does to the MCU. The Infinity stones are pointless, time travel alone is somehow more powerful, and everyone in the entire Universe had their script written from the start. No free will, no choice, no sacrifice. If you fail to do it their way, the timenazis will just copy you and melt the previous you an infinite number of times until you achieve "their truth". Apparently this is a wide-spread Disney issue, not just a Kennedy/Lucasfilm one. In the first half of one epsiode they just destroyed everything that came before, or will ever come again in this MCU. #MCUNothingMatters

Additionally, anyone not utterly horrified by the concept, the actions, and the conviction of the TVA is simply not paying attention. There is quite a bit of introductory work done in this episode, to new characters, alongside the more self-perceptive side to the title character, as well as the TVA itself, but I felt that the episode was very enjoyable as well as thought provoking.

I find it utterly incomprehensible that the storylines introduced in this first episode could possibly be brought to any satisfactory conclusion in the five remaining episodes. I am therefore hoping that season one of Loki is the first of several.

Ep 1: It's terribly satisfying to see Disney simply eviscerate the whole so-called MCU and make all all the previous movies moot. What a way to show the middle-finger to its fervent fan base. And despite lame asides, lazy jokes and acting by Owen Wilson, and an horrendous/dumb gimmick (the ability to to control the time/movement of another person) the writing kept me intrigued. Hopefully it doesn't devolve into that preposterous Wandavision show.

Ep2 and 3: Well, what a disappointment. The former Rick and Morty writer desperately tries to create an existentialist Super hero story and it feels noisy (non stop talking), bloated, self-indulgent and ....cringe. Better watch the original Rick and Morty season 5 than this.

Meh. I like the TVA look, but that's about it. Episode was fine, and I was looking forward to more time in this neck.of the Marvel woods. 2 was not near as good, and 3 was garbage. Sylvie is annoying af and ruins what little interesting the plot has to offer. A plod is more like it. Too many "deep" conversations.

I will say a lot of the appeal comes from the awesome cast, ideas and performance. Lets start at the beginning: Since we watched Avengers Endgame we all speculated what Loki would do. There were a lot of theories and when the show was announced we were hyped. It fully delivers with the first episode and kept going strong during the whole show. However it is not perfect as I see a few weaknesses in the script and maybe a few plot holes (For the later I am not sure if I just over-analyzed some stuff). Story: Because of the meddling of the Avengers in Endgame with time travel a past version of Loki from the end of the first Avengers movie is on the run with the Tesseract. However his escape ended faster than he could imagine as he is approached by a group of uniformed people who came out of a portal. This is the start of a crazy enjoyable adventure. The story is full of ideas, fan service and great acting. It works well enough that I will ignore the few flaws it has. I don't mind these if the result is this entertaining and satisfying. Also the character development is truly convincing, believable and entertaining. Cast / actors: This is for me the greatest strength of the show. We have a great Tom Hiddleston as Loki. He is a charming scoundrel and so entertaining to watch. A really strong performance but the rest of the cast is equally good. Owen Wilson as Mobius is the yin to Loki’s yang. They work well together and their discussions and barters are excellent. A truly convincing performance. It ends not there as Sophie Di Martino almost steals the show. It is hard to chose which of the 3 characters is the best. Then we have Gugu Mbatha Raw as Ravonna Renslayer and Wunmi Moskau as hunter B-14 (yes that is her name). Both are intimidating and excellent. For the characters that appear lesser I want to especially praise Richard E. Grant and Jonathan Majors for their incredible performance. In total we got here an amazingly strong performance and there is nothing to criticize for me. Presentation: The show has an amazing style and there is a high production value. They put a lot of effort into the sets, special effects and design. On top of that there is so much fan service in form of references and easter eggs. This attention is praiseworthy and enhances the atmosphere. The soundtrack is sneakingly good (= You miss this if you don't pay attention). Humor: There is a lot of good humor in the show. Being it Loki being Loki, situational humor, absurdity or gadgets used for punishment (You will notice the scenes trhat I referrence here spoiler free ;-). The humor enhances the experiences too and is another big strength. Negatives: Like I mentioned there are a few scenes where the script could be a bit ironed out. For example in one episode they had to downgrade the character abilities but it resulted in an enjoyable episode with good character interactions and development. The conclusion was awesome on one hand but also a (very) small disappointment on the other. However I liked it enough to not decrease my rating. Overall I say this was an amazing show and I liked all episodes. Would fully recommend the whole show to friends. I say it is worth a 10/10 despite some flaws for the characters, humor, ideas and the heart and soul that was put into it. Expand

Hiddleston and Wilson are perfect screen partners. ... And yet Loki still felt limp. The introduction of variants and timeline laws managed to be both overly knotty and explained away, and the lack of either Marvel-esque combat or quirky subtlety rendered the episode a little unambitious.

If there are any minor quibbles – a slightly hand-wavey explanation of some time travel rules, a couple of dodgy accents, some slightly low-key action scenes – they’re easily outweighed by the performances, world-building and general confidence of this series. Right now, it’s the best Marvel Disney Plus series so far.
