    I'm rewatching this after seeing Moon Knight and wow, the difference in quality between the two shows is night (heh) and day. Legion actually reminds me quite a lot of Twin Peaks but in a really good way. It's not quite up to that level of weirdness but it excels at still being a fresh take on a genre that, to be fair, could absolutely be accused of being a bit stale. I love how confusing its plot is and the mysteries it teases. I personally feel that its up there with Lost, Dark, and Westworld S1 in terms of how it feels like a puzzle box with each thread leading to a myriad others. The hardest part about these mystery box shows is sticking the landing. Thankfully, Legion S1 does this with great skill. I never actually got around to watching Legion S3 and I dunno how I dropped it, cause it is genuinely a very good show.… Expand

    Visually stunning sci-fi feast. Perfectly cast and well written. Great set design and fantastic turns. delightfully confusing, with reveals stripped off two layers of the onion at a time, only to have one more layer added back on. The cinematography is excellent, the acting is great, and the characters are engaging. A hell of a lot is packed into a single episode, making it worth anotherVisually stunning sci-fi feast.     Noah Hawley can do no wrong. The show is not only beautiful to look at, but is clever, imaginative, brilliantly written and very well acted, especially Stevens, Plaza and Clement. Although it can be a little bit slow to begin with, the payoff is fantastic. Cannot wait for Season 2.

    The perfect show if you want to turn your brain into mush. Most of the time I have no clue what the hell is going on but the cinematography, script and characters are all so intriguing that you can not look away. It's almost a psychological rollercoaster ride.     The best show currently on television. Better than Game of Thrones. Better than Westworld. Mind blowing, visually stunning, and always new. I can't wait for every new episode.

    Incredibly creative, conceptual and all-around brilliant. Season 2 is off to a roaring start, subtly weaving in more of the X-Men lore, while retaining its own brazenly unique perspective on the superhero genre. I mean, deciding to portray three powerful psychics squaring off in the form of a dance battle? Artistic badassery.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This may be the most insane TV show to date. It has psychedelic imagery, a terrifying villain, and a layered story. I am generally not a fan of horror, but this show simply oozes polish, with every frame most likely having a secondary meaning or the Shadow King. The performances in this show are amazing. Dan Stevens nails the "constantly confused" David, as well as his slowly gaining control over his powers. Aubrey Plaza is amazing as Lenny and the Shadow King, completely insane and over-the-top.… Expand

    The visuals are just stunning. The characters have a complexity to them that is hard to find not only in superhero genre, but in TV generally speaking. The events and their presentation leads to multiple mind-bends during this fairly short season. One of the most engaging modern TV series.

    The plot is only just about decipherable, and even then not particularly that special, but Legion consistently proves throughout that it isn't necessarily what the story is, but how that story is expressed, and just about every aspect of the show is expressed perfectly through excellent visual storytelling and an incredible thematic approach to its ideas.     Creative genius! I didn't realize until the end of the season that the lead character is from a comic book. Thankfully, Legion is totally different than the myriad of comic books shows on TV and in Theatres. Just a couple of the genius moves: (1) having the show take place in current times, but the sets, the costumes, the hairstyles are completely 1960s . . . and the best part of itCreative genius!     Legion can't be saved from its confusing plot and muddled characters, but it has a true redemption after its eye-popping storytelling and brilliantly talented cast blesses its eerie conclusion. A new Marvel's series has come.

    BEST SHOW ON TV RIGHT NOW! I loved everything about it. BEST thing Marvel has ever helped create. Please just keep making it more awesome next season.

    What I loved:

    1. Casting
    2.Story
    3.Keeps you sucked in from the first episode.
    4. Good from the first to the last episode.
    5. CGI for a TV show looked great

    Generally confusing most of the time, Legion works but with a number of blemishes. A big factor is the hit or miss acting. While Stevens and Keller do a great job at as the main characters, the supporting cast never really lives up to their example. Very bland performances abound for most of them and can really take you out of a scene. Also some CGI is very very bad. They've also kept the "it could all just be in his head" angle going the entire time, which adds more thought provoking ideas to the base. In the end, season two should be good as long as they can clear up some of the poor performances and the poor CGI.… Expand

    Possibly my favorite show of 2017. Thank you FX for taking a risk and creating such a creative take on super hero TV. The look, music and performances are all top notch, just as Noah Hawley has done with Fargo. I don't always know what's going on but in Noah's hands that's part of the fun. Highly recommended viewing.

    Legion is the single most remarkable, mind-blowing, mind-expanding, psychedelic head trip I've seen on tv in I don't even know how long. It quickly moved right up to my top three favorite shows. The excellent cast and their performances breath such life to a storyline built on endless surprises with multiple 'realities' that results in you never quite knowing what will happen next, evenLegion is the single most remarkable, mind-blowing, mind-expanding, psychedelic head trip I've seen on tv in I don't even know how long. It quickly moved right up to my top three favorite shows. The excellent cast and their performances breath such life to a storyline built on endless surprises with multiple 'realities' that results in you never quite knowing what will happen next, even when you feel secure that you have a grasp on what's actually happening, which you most likely don't. Sublime writing together with a great cast and stellar special effects makes for a show that no doubt goes over the head of many a viewer. I suspect a good number of the mixed and negative reviews are from people who want it to stop being what it is and settle down into a more generic 'super-hero' show (Daredevil, JJ, Agents of Shield) so they can follow along. Hey kids, puts down your phones, throw out your sugar-filled crap soda and try to follow along.… Expand

    The only 'superhero' show I like. It surely is not for everyone.
    A great deal of plot takes place inside the main characters mind.
    So, if you're not into that kind of thing, you probably won't like it.
    I, for one, found it suspenseful and I was always looking forward to the next episode.

    If you took a Marvel property, added touches of Inception, and mixed it with Requiem For A Dream, you'd have Legion, the wildest, most imaginative television program I've ever seen. There are sequences and story telling techniques that major motion pictures wouldn't have the balls to attempt. Give Noah Hawley (on a roll Ryan Murphy would be jealous of) and FX credit for airing a challenging, artful series that is stunning in it's execution. I'm docking it one star, because it can be frustrating taken an episode at a time, but as a whole...brilliant. BTW if your only knowledge of Audrey Plaza is from Parks and Rec....you're in for a surprise.… Expand

    This is my first review. This show blew me away. I tried watching the first episode a while back, and for whatever reason, I couldn't get through it. My wife and I tried it out again, and by the end of the third episode, I was MESMERIZED. It only continued to grow from there. My wife and I felt like we were watching ourselves (there is a small love story in here, and the portrayal is very real and quirky). If you suffer from a mind where you aren't sure if your thoughts are *yours* then this show will be a cathartic experience. Don't listen to the trolls. Either they are zombies that haven't stepped into their own journey, or they are too immature and unlearned to understand the themes, or both. This show is a cathartic godsend for those of us that understand the nature of our reality just a bit more than the average person.… Expand

    Ironic, unexpected, visually impressive, good music at the right moments, a little scary sometimes. From that point, it would be a 10, but the plot has the bad habit of dying and resurrecting; I mean, when starting an episode, you don't know if it will be one of the best TV experiences of the year, or    Great, but not perfect.

    From that point, it would be a 10, but the plot has the bad habit of dying and resurrecting; I mean, when starting an episode, you don't know if it will be one of the best TV experiences of the year, or the most boring and senseless 40 minutes of the week. Summing up, it has 4 episodes with good plot, and another 4 episodes with bad plot, since Noah Hawley only participated in 3 of the episodes.

    It is a great, GREAT show. The pilot is a must-watch for everyone, and the person who says this doesn't like almost anything related with superheroes. I'm afraid that many people will loose this experience because of the fault of those 4 bad episodes, but the ones who can finish the first season will be eager to taste the second one.    … Expand

    We had eight episodes, but not all the episodes were as compelling as they should've been. The show had some lowlights, sometimes the episodes didn't feel connected at all. And some misuse of some characters. But definitively there were more highlights than lowlights. ''The Shadow King" was presented as our main villain for the season, the design of the villain was smart until the writers decided to wrap him up for a second season. I don't mean that the villain was bad, instead, it was really scary and had some balls compared to many of the villains we see even in movies. The tv show felt as if it was a horror show with some elements of drama, superheroes, comedy and even musical. All thanks to the great writing and directing of the show, great characters that you actually cared for them. Everyone did an amazing performance, but shout out to Aubrey Plaza who completely stole the show , her performance as Lenny Busker was award-worthy, she really gave life to the character she was in. My favorite highlight in the season was Episode 7, the best episode of the season surely. The episode was directed by Dennie Gordon and god he really did an outstanding job, from a really noisy ambient to a silent film just in one chapter, combined with a powerful edition that really engaged us to it. But returning to the lowlights, what a waste of the final episode they had. Cleverly they left the villain for one more season (at least) but at what cost? Also we had section 3, kind of a villain too, that at the end didn't work for more than filling up loose ends. Sometimes you could feel how the show was nearly starting to drag until something visually got us back to the storyline. They could've done only six episodes and that would've been better. At the end Legion is a technical masterpiece with breathtaking performances, references to other characters in the X-Men universe, great direction and writing but with some minor issues that probably will be the reason why is not perfect. Definitively worth seeing. 8.6 to this first season looking forward for the improvements at season two.    … Expand

    So far it's pretty amazing. I hesitate to give it a perfect score because though great, I do think that it's sometimes a little too pretentious for it's own good. But aside from that little nitpick, the quality has been amazing.

    Another great example of how different the superhero genre can be when directors and dare I say artists are allowed to explore a character. Much the same as comic books had to grow into more complex and compelling stories, the evolution has now happened on film. Forget what you think you know about comics when watching this and just enjoy the ride.

    If you are a fan of the character expect some things to be different than comic lore but what matters is the character is fundamentally the same.

    This show is heavy on style and perhaps more horror than action.

    If you are looking for the Avengers or x-men blockbuster this is not the show for you, but if you are looking for a good story, heavily stylish, and a show you can't check your email during, this is it!    … Expand

    Stylistically, this show is a league of it's own. Just watch the first episode and you'll see what I mean. And it doesn't let up. The surrealism, the unique special effects, and creativity of of producers alone make this show well worth watching.     [Legion is] produced like a cerebral art house version of a superhero series, thrumming with precision and emotion where the genre usually calls for shock and awe, and assembled with an entrancing period aesthetic (it seems to be set in the early 1970s, but that could just be a side-effect of David's fragile mental state) and stunning, occasionally horrifying visual effects.

    It’s handsomely shot, and smartly acted, and ingeniously constructed enough to suggest there’s something mind-blowing lurking at its center. But as Hawley pushes from jazzed-up origin story to psychodrama, it starts to feel like a show with a Rubik’s cube where its heart should be.
