The characters in Koala Man are solid enough to make us think that the more time Cusack and his writers get to develop them, the better the show will get.

Koala Man gives the impression of looking from the inside out, taking ’strayan humour and trying to place it into a broadly appealing comedy. It does feel authentically Aussie – so much so that one wonders whether overseas audiences will understand or laugh at it.

It’s another retread of the lame-dad sitcom that tries to hide its lack of imagination with increasingly silly circumstances and celebrity performers.
