Apr 20, 2015it was okay. Trying too hard to be funny on the road, in the car; didn't feel spontaneous - felt forced. Her material was solid during the performances.

In Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro, there’s a sweet, subtle awareness that there are pockets of cool people almost anywhere you go now, and that their doors are always open.
-
There are clearly larger ideas at play in Knock Knock, It’s Tig Notaro, having to do with healing and human contact and getting back to roots, that don’t quite come into focus. The meta-Americana of Ms. Notaro and Mr. Dore’s travels can be amusing or it can be awkward and slightly condescending. The film’s memorable bits come not from performance but from the serendipity of the road.

Notaro is funny because she is so creatively droll. But she’s also funny because she is --maybe not fearless, but brave enough to stare fear down and get beyond it.
