Nov 21, 2022Went in with the full expectation that this would be another retread of the usual British crime drama, and in many ways it was, but it was also much better than the typical Brit crime drama. Well acted, well written and wraps up in three 90 minute episodes. Highly recommend

Jan 6, 2023A much better British mystery than most. The lead was likable and this production stuck with the idea of a mystery and reasonable people's personalities and lives. We rate it "Well worth watching."

Karen Pirie is a pretty straightforward entry in the genre of British/Scottish police mysteries. But the first season presents a solid, twisty case and the title character is refreshingly young and not grizzled. Those two factors make the show an engaging watch.

I liked Karen Pirie, a creation of Val McDermid. It felt modern and fresh (well, as fresh as yet another cop show can be), which is how Lauren Lyle played the lead character, a sarky, baby-faced detective in a man’s world, underestimated by her peers.
