Nov 16, 2015This show has great production values, fantastic martial arts set pieces and beautiful cinematography. Unfortunately it gets bogged down in a strained narrative and only adequate acting. It has great potential but I'm not sure if I'm up to watching it through its growth period.

Apr 18, 2016I'm a huge fan of martial arts and on that level this show delivers in spades. Unfortunately what started as an interesting story ends up into one hot mess of cliches and whatnot. So much potential wasted here. Will not be back for season 2

Dec 7, 2015Into The Badlands is one of the most entertaining shows on television! Maybe some elements of this show are basic, but, honestly, who cares? What's matter here is appreciate those amazing fights scenes, the great characters (specially the Widow, Tilda and Zypher) and follow a surrounding story with so much potential.
-
Nov 21, 2015This show is being horribly underrated here. This show is only one episode in and has so much potential. The fight scenes are absolutely fantastic, probably the best I've seen on TV. The fight scenes are just as good as the fight scenes on Arrow. And the deep, rich story makes this an awesome show.

Mar 15, 2017The Fight scenes are like no other TV show I have scene. It sits just in front of Spartacus, as far as the Fighting and Action goes, and that's saying a lot considering its AMC. The storyline and characters could form into something Amazing, and the characters are all great!. I cannot wait for the new season in 3 days!

Dec 4, 2015if you like martial arts with swords you have to love the show. This is the first real martial art show. The story is not fantastic but pleasant. I'm hoping for other seasons
-
Dec 27, 2015This is just fun. Great acting by Daniel Wu. Even if you do not like the story, the martial arts scenes are worth watching it. But there is way more than that. Go for it.
-
Dec 13, 2015I saw the first three episodes and so far, I love the show. I love martial arts so it must be the main reason. I also like the actors and acting, I think it is well done and they are believable. The show also offer a level of suspense which makes you want to keep watching...what is this mysterious other land..out there?

Dec 30, 2015This show is an incredible breath of fresh air! The action, the world, the lore, and the characters are all supremely interesting. If you like badass kung fu fights and a dash of political intrigue, check it out! PLEASE GIVE US A SEASON 2!!

Mar 27, 2017I'm 2/3 through season 1 and see great potential. They need to incorporate at least 3 well choreographed fight scenes per episode. Like any series, they are slowly incorporating characters into the mix. I'm happy to see Daniel Wu in the lead role and have always liked Marton Csokas since 1st seeing him in the Hercules and Xena Warrior Princess Series.

Dec 23, 2015AMC guys are GREAT! Into the the badlands is one of the best series I can see now. Cast is just wonderful! Daniel Wu, Marton Csokas, Orla Brady, Oliver Stark, Stephen Lang, Lance Henriksen and others you are great! Decorations and locations are exquisite. This series must see the future!

Jan 15, 2016the fight choreography in this show is AMAZING! if you thought Daredevil was good, this beats it. Nothing on TV or netflix or amazon has a better fight choreography than this show. They better renew it for another season or I'm going to go nuts.
-
Apr 4, 2017If you can get beyond some of the sillier aspects of this show's plot lines and setting, and it's penchant for cliched dialogue, it's pure kickass kung fu fun.
-
Jan 9, 2016Really like to see, that someone did such purpose - to create a martial art-oriented series. With fights so nice, and color scheme so bright. Very good show and I really enjoyed not only fights, but as well it's twisted and complex plot. Of course there is a few plot holes, and a few strange decisions, but still it's wonderful.
Hope AMC will prolong it for the next season. -
Dec 7, 2015Overall its very entertaining for what it is. and for that I would rate it as an 8, good production value, choreography, and semi coherent story. what keeps it from being perfect are some of the cartoony one-dimensional characters... but this is after episode 2. so there is still time for development.
-
Nov 16, 2015The plotting and characterization has a lot of growing to do, but the fight choreography is really well done. And that's where it counts for a show trying to bring back the feeling of "Kung Fu".
I'm sticking around to see where the setting and main characters go. Loved Sunny's short sword. -

Dec 6, 2015was reluctant to watch at first, previews seemed to concentrate on fight scenes, but after watching first episode, then two, then three . . . now hooked on the characters and story line. anticipating the next episodes.
-
Dec 21, 2015Into The Badlands is a breath of fresh air compared to Network television. The cinematography is superb and the fight scenes are well choreographed and the plot has limitless potential.
I hope season 2 will have more than 6 episodes. -

Jun 8, 2018Great show. If you love action, great acting, an excellent storyline and have an appreciation for the martial arts, this is the show for you. I noticed that "users" rate this show a 8.1 vs "pro-reviews". Every week they pack in Jackie Chan quality fight scenes! Excellent show.
-
Apr 22, 2018I'm catching up with Season 2. This show is one of the best shows I'm watching. The fights are the best I know. The characters are all strong ones. I hope to see many more seasons.
I wouldn't trust the rating on Rotten Tomatoes that much. They are giving The Orville 21% while the public is giving them 93%.

For all of the impressive whirling, gouging and slashing acrobatics on display in Badlands, the action often feels strangely inert. Whether badass male or kickass female, these combatants tend to be joyless, expressionless ciphers. [23 Nov - 6 Dec 2015, p.14]
-
Yes, it's riddled with comic-book clichés. True, the dialogue is out of a Cracker Jack box, and most of its characters have less dimension than cardboard cutouts. But I'm a sucker for well-choreographed kung fu films. And Badlands--a Mad Max-ian postapocalyptic kung fu western that costars Emily Beecham as a killer beauty--has some wonderfully wigged-out fight scenes.

The problem is that at no point during the first couple of episodes does the show truly come alive as a drama about actual people inhabiting a convincing fictional space. It doesn't pulse with life, as any series defined mainly through its actions ought to. And when action does happen, it's disappointingly personality-free.
