Dec 20, 2018I am binge watching the show for a month now and never laughed, cried and cringed so heavily at a tv show than HIMYM. The characters are awesome and the guest stars freak me out sometimes^^
Avoided the show for years as kid and as a 21 year old started watching it and never regret it. A must watch for anybody who needs a smile put on their faces. -
alexOct 9, 2009Great show, started off a little slow in the first season, not much chemistry and writing was pretty lame. But from there it took off as the characters became more hilarious

-
NatashaOct 7, 2007I disagree with those who compare the show to Friends, because it's totally individual. It doesn't astonish or shock the viewer, but it us sure to raise your spirits.

JenTNov 18, 2005Each episode is better than the last. One of the better depictions of authentic urban friendship on tv.
-
-
TiffanyJan 27, 2006The cast have a chemistry between them that does not always exist in television. John Randor is such a nice guy that it is hard to hate him, while Harris is so funny that it makes it even more difficult to hate him. It seems that this cast has such likeable personalities that you can't hate anything they do.

FengZMar 18, 2007actually between 8 and 9 cleverest script among recent ones. fine cast. love it.

-
SusanJMar 29, 2007The show can be truly funny and in the next second be dramatic. But the theme can be frustrating at times, feeling a bit drug out.

-
JenW.Jan 29, 2008This is one of the only sitcoms that I have ever actually laughed at. I find it much funnier than friends-the individual characters on this show are much more interesting than Ross and Rachel. Let's hope this continues to get renewed-it's a rare gem in a sea of crappy t.v.

-
HossamDMay 15, 2009This one of the best Series for years, there is some twists in the story that you don't expect in this kind of comedies, Neil did a great job also.

-
CrazyAJun 18, 2006Nice, laid back, easy-going humor, nice feeling for timing. Characters are more real-life than some other shows. The little jokes and remarks are like the ones you think of just after it would have been funny so say. Most sitcoms will put a character in a tricky situation, which will be solved just before the end of the show. This doesn't need that trick to fil an episode.

MegAug 23, 2007My entire family LOVES watching this show. It is very funny and i think Neil Patrick Harris plays a very hilarious Barney. However it is very funny it doesnt crab my attention like Friends. the cast of Friends were a lot closer thant the How I met Your Mother characters.
-
-
AdamASep 23, 2008The characters aren't the best (save for Barney), but their interplay makes up for it. I love it, but it may not be for everyone.

-
CLeungJan 25, 2009So many different opinions about this show. I love it, and I hated Friends, dislike pretty much every romantic comedy I've ever seen. Yet i follow this show religiously. I guess the writing is really witty and the characters really connect with the viewer.

UnagiboyNov 29, 2005I had very looooow expectations when I heard the title of this show. But it has really grown on me. Both funny and sweet, it has some good writing and performances. In the short time it has been on the air, I've grown to like the characters. My only fear....how long can they write good stories before he meets his wife?

Jan 13, 2011Time to laugh. One of the cutest TV series around. Imagine a group of friends, one of whom loves love to much, he is on an never ending search for the one. The story is set in the future and is about the tale a dad (Ted Mosby) tells his kids, about the journey made, to meet their mother. The episodes are filled with humor and tales of friendship. A must see for the whole family.
-
Jun 23, 2011Compelling in that each character is so purely individual- and hilarious even when their personalities reach ridiculously absurd heights. The comedy is consistently present, and the cast is lovable. I can rewatch every episode many times over.
-
Sep 14, 2011Although it has some ideas stolen from "Friends" it still has a catchy storyline and five characters that have a consistent personality. The show has funny jokes to spend a good time and laugh a lot.

Jun 13, 2012This show is, wait for it.... LEGENDARY! This show has running gags that don't get old. There is great chemistry between the characters. There's is a perfect mix between drama and comedy. This show gave me hope for the future of sitcoms.

Mar 30, 2013This show is so amazing and it will be sad to see it go after season 9, the acting is amazing and I like the fact that it isn't a crappy sitcom with dumb jokes, its shows a lot of smarts and doesn't take itself too seriously

Sep 19, 2013HIMYM is a great show, there have been a lot of complaints about the story line but in all fairness, its a funny show and super entertaining. I for one never got bored from watching it.
-
Mar 7, 2014Great starturn! The show sems like some kind of Friends and Big Bang Theory, but the idea is great and the shows follows it nicely, the characters are outstanding, the actors are great as well the performance, just great!
It's a starturn for this show really, but somes jokes sems to be repetitives, isn't something that spoilers the show at all, but is a little awkward detail. -
Dec 18, 2015Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother is incredible. It has a great story line and is really funny. The characters are unique and funny. This season is original and creative.
-
Jun 6, 2016One of my favorite sitcoms so far. Being extremely hilarious, it's like another version of Friends. Perhaps, friends with better lives. However, the ending did put it off a little bit. The build up to the ending was amazing, but the ending didn't live up to my expectations.
-
BeckyMay 30, 2007this show is very funny, and i've just started watching it. Some of the writing is weak though, and i thought The Class was more fun and interesting, but i will keep watching this show.

-
JorgeGJan 10, 2009Great show. I do like the writing, though perhaps their rely on sitcom stereotypes too often. I guess that's just unavoidable sometimes. Alright, the figure of Barney is exagerated to create a cult character, but let's face it: he HAS some memorable moments.
-

KaranDec 15, 2007I actually like the way it makes you follow the leads in the story but it used to be much funnier than the recent episodes. The FUN part of the series is fading gradually! But the previous seasons were VEREY funny!

-
JTDec 1, 2009I hated this show at first. I thought the premise was lame, the narration was awkward and NPH was too one-dimensional. Then I gave it an honest shot. Now I can hardly get enough! It's not the best nor the funniest show on TV, but it's close. (Note: I still don't really like the first season mostly because Ted is so whiny).

May 31, 2011A very good sitcom, which has a great combination of comedy and romance. I think Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan play their roles incredibly well, and whilst some may understandably find Neil Patrick Harris' character a tad annoying, I think he does his job well. Overall, a great show

Jan 18, 2012I loved this show! I watch it all the time. However, I think the addition of Kal Penn could have been a bonus. However, his role in the show seems pushed. It is clearly not a permanent one ...
-
Sep 4, 2012"How I met your mother" is a great TV show, believe me. Maybe the greatest one, but It doesn't top "Friends". However, It's funny, more because of Barney Stinson (the funniest character of the show). And the other actors are great too. And the story, well, It's good, but not fantastic. Still, "How I met your mother" is superb.
-
Oct 19, 2012I truly love this show it is the best sitcom since "FRIENDS" Neil Patrick Harris is funny as hell however Jason Segal is a little wierd but eithr way it's still the best sitcom ever.
-
Dec 26, 2012It is a comedy and it is funny, what else can there actually be for this genre. it does have some inconsistency in delivring the humor but 8 season in I still enjoy their company on screen.
-
Feb 18, 2013The characters are best ones since "Friends". Unfortunately during the last few seasons writers obviously start to run out of ideas and we see episodes with singing and dancing, celebrity guests, very odd scripts and... you know the drill. But still it tells something about the series that you will keep watching to know the answer to the title of the show.
-
Dec 31, 2013A good start to a promising show. The show is very very smart, it keeps track of every single detail and remembers them to use in the future. The characters feel like real friends because of the way they have little jokes between them, very good start indeed. Although would make a better drama than comedy.
-
Sep 8, 2015Funny and creatively written how i met your mother is a great tv series with a great blend of comedy romance and drama. It's one of the better shows out there!
7.8/10 -
Jan 13, 2016A romantic comedy with a simple plot. The Show has a different style of narration and the amazing chemistry between the actors make it so appeaing. All the Characters and the script make these series such a huge hit.
-
May 7, 2016This show is great. Comical, deep, and emotional, HIMYM is the perfect blend of it all as each character brings a very unique, relatable (except Barney for most of us), and likeable presence to the set. At times they go a little overboard with the emotional sound bites and it just sounds bad, but overall the story is incredible and very well developed.

-
JasonM.Sep 12, 2007It's nothing groundbreaking, but it's consistent and always leaves you with a good feeling. The plots are usually pretty funny although some are just typical sitcom ones. The highlight of the show is definitely the characters though.
-
-
PaulMcCartneyMar 19, 2006I loved this show when it first came on, but it has been in decline. They need to focus less on Ted's desperate search for love and more on the fun of his life, with interpersing bits of his love, a la Scrubs
-
-
May 4, 2017It has a lot of moments where it doesn't understand basic human behavior. People break up, get back together, break up, cheat, and all the while continue to hang out with each other as if nothing ever happened. People don't work that way. The show itself is good for a couple of laughs if you ignore the glaring lack of realism in the characters.
-
Aug 2, 2011HIMYM is a gem. Solid acting, not always as funny as it should be, but never the less thrives on the presence of Neil Patrick Harris and Josh Radnor. However i hope i speak from everyone when i say CAN WE JUST MEET THE MOTHER ALREADY!
-
Jan 31, 2012Every character is so irresistible, and although this is probably one of the weaker seasons for jokes, the story is really interesting enough to carry you through.

-
Feb 24, 2015HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is often unintentionally dry and repetitive. Often you find yourself yelling at the screen in frustration of the stupidity of some of the lead characters, but the whole show is saved by a hilarious Neil Patrick Harris.
-
Nov 9, 2013This was my favorite show for a long time however I think this final season concept is terrible and is dreadful to watch. I feel like in 8 episode so far this season, the show has not gone anywhere. All it is this season is a bunch of jokes that are not even funny. I miss the lighthearted moments that made it more of comedy drama.
-
Feb 2, 2017How I Met Your Mother’s pilot season moves at a quick pace and provides plenty of laughs, although it is derivative of other sitcoms and can’t help feel inferior to ‘Friends’.
-
Nov 28, 2013Yes, the show can be cheesy sometimes, but that's its' appeal. It's a light-hearted comedy which is pretty funny the characters are likeable and the show is entertaining.

Apr 6, 2014It's like Pulp Fiction in a way. The story is jumbled in confusing ways which eventually lead up to It's grand point. How I Met Your Mother does this well. It's entertaining in comedy, but that just might be It's only entertaining point.

Feb 12, 2014No, just no. It was good first 3 seasons but then it has made feel so repetitive. So many awkward and unnecessary things happened. None of the characters are funny or original at all, except for Barney who is not anymore. It's just an average sitcom for me now. Just a cheap clone of Friends.
-
Apr 1, 2014Was very enjoyable for the first few seasons, then dragged through the rest with a few ups and downs in quality. The comedy was pretty solid early, but the drama was typically brought on forcefully and felt a bit soapy. The finale was very disappointing.
-
Feb 3, 2015I watched this show very quickly but i still liked it. It is not very funny i thought it was going to be hilarious but its entertaining. I think the character ted mosby is very much like me so i found it relate-able so i liked it but over all its a good show.
-
Jan 16, 2018hhhhaaaave you met ted..
How I Met Your Mother
The strength of the series is the way how they play with the time-line but this is also the reason why you will be disappointed in the end. Depicting a beautiful concept which could have been mind-blowing if taken care of, is still a definite one time watch for all the characters. -
RaisaJApr 19, 2007Funny parts but sinking fast after a decent first season. The women characters are weak.

-
May 19, 2013This show had a good goal. To make people anticipate for something for 8 long years and even extending to a 9th season. But most of their jokes and writing aren't that good and making people wait can be either a big mistake or a good thing and this looks like a big mistake. But it is a good show to watch to just pass the time
-
JBAug 12, 2006I wanted to like this show for the actors' sake. I'm sorry to say that I can't. The show lacks rythme, any sense of comedic timing and a sense of chemistry as amongst the actors. Worse are the lines they're forced to say, stilted and artificial as they are.
-
-
PorphyroU.May 21, 2009Bad show is bad. Poorly written with annoying actors (I want to punch Jason Segel in the face every time I see him), this series continues to thrive only on Barney Stinson's catchphrase, from what I can tell. An indictment against the intelligence of TV viewers.
-
-

-
JPFridyNov 9, 2005I have been incapable of watching this show for anything longer than a 15-minute sitting thanks to its impressively contrived, stilted dialogue. Then again, I never could stand the artificial, insincere, overwrought wittiness of this show's forebears, either (most notably Friends).

May 13, 2013This show is a poor version of FRIENDS. People should try and make something different, they have stolen many ideas and jokes from friends & these poor actors have not been able to execute even that properly. This show sucks big time, unlike friends in which you can laugh your lungs out throughout, the 22 min. running episode is only funny when Barney is on screen.
-
May 23, 2013this show is filled with poor actors, irritating characters and moronic moments. over rated and boring
-
Mar 8, 2014It started so great, and I loved it, but the past three seasons have been truly awful, and basically been used just to pull more money in for the show. I'm glad it's ending so I won't have to see this awful show again.
-
Apr 8, 2018Not so good I'm afraid. I'm watching it years later his original airing date and maybe this influenced my personal opinion but unfortunately this show has lost his shine. Prevedible, silly jockes, dated, derivated from other tv classic, characters and situation are too over the top to be funny or believable. I can't related with any of the protagonists. There is better out of there.
-
TimSep 4, 2007Wow I can't believe they're still making Friends knockoffs, Well it's been a while so I guess it was only a matter of time until a Friends ripoff finally became a hit. Staring people from Saved by the Bell: the New class nonetheless.
-
-
nikunNov 6, 2005the show is clever, but the jokes are stale. they repeat the same remarks as if they had not heard of any other jokes to tell. the first episode it had the same lame joke told more than once .
-
-
KobeBryantNov 16, 2009Others have said it before. The actors are reading lines they dont believe is funny. It's really bad writing. I think the actors on the show can do a lot better than this.

It's not funny anymore, and I don't get how can people still watch this.

-
Like ''Friends," this is not a big-themed series so much as a bunch of little character jokes and relationship confusions getting batted around by an able cast.
-
The script is just poor.
-
Manages to get the balance of cuddliness and snark just right.
