I watched 4 mins of the first episode and had to turn it off. The acting is so cringe and the writing is a big ole oft… just no.

Doesn't deserve all the hate, it's a promising start to the series, and there's a lot of potential for the future. HIMYM wasn't perfect in the first season either

While it may be said that the series is off to a slow start, all the ingredients are certainly there to make this a properly entertaining and successful show (so long as it's given the time to develop). Some of the greatest shows in television had worse beginnings but the right foundations. We'll see where it goes, but so far I'm enjoying it and I hope it's given a chance to continue.… Expand

It's not as bad as you'd think. Not perfect either, but def worth a shot. The chemistry between the cast is good, and I got some decent chuckles from it.

I've read several reviews saying that people shouldn't expect HIMYF to be like HIMYM. Well the fact is that this show wouldn't have any interest and be produced if it wasn't for the success of HIMYM and they obviously hope to catch lightningI've read several reviews saying that people shouldn't expect HIMYF to be like HIMYM. Well the fact is that this show wouldn't have any interest and be produced if it wasn't for the success of HIMYM and they obviously hope to catch lightning in a bottle a second time. But that will definitely not happen if they don't use the same formula and the same or equivalent talent. And this is nothing like HIMYM and it's really bad. Hillary Duff is the only actor and character that brings any kind of substance, but the rest is a forgettable boring mess. The humor is so absent that the laugh tracks feels just as displaced as it would in Schindlers List. I have funnier and more creative dialogues with my mother.… Expand

This show is very bland with some pretty bad acting. It maintains the general spirit of How I Met Your Mother but with none of the chemistry and heart that that show had.

I love Hilary Duff & Kim Catrall but this is a big no for me. The comedy in this show is way too used, too many clichés, and a simpler comedy that I just don't see a future for this show.

Why are people telling me that I can't compare this to How I met Your Mother? It has the same name and for godsake it has the same intro. Horrible show. For those of you saying you can't compare the show to How I Met Your Mother, that's ridiculous, it's a spin-off of that show so of course it's going to be compared to it. I did not have high hopes for the show but did go into watching it with an open mind, hoping to find something likable about but I didn't. I don't mind the laugh tracks but they at least have to go along with a funny joke which I have yet to find in this show. The group of friends seem very disjointed. Too many main characters make it hard to follow and gives you less time to get to know each character. Very disappointing start to the show. If you're gonna make a spin-off of a well beloved show, you have to do your best to hook in the audience from the start. This show fails to do that on all levels.… Expand

It is a really nice show. Of course, it's not comparable to himym, but also, it's just one short season so far. The only negative thing I would say is that the season is too short for a sitcom. This series is worth continuing !
I had a bad first impression on the first episodes (especially the 2 first) my opinion was that the relation between the characters is too far fetched as they have no real connection whatsoever at theThis series is worth continuing !
I had a bad first impression on the first episodes (especially the 2 first) my opinion was that the relation between the characters is too far fetched as they have no real connection whatsoever at the begining. Moreover several scenes were poorly written, too obvious. It gave me the impression that the actors were not good but it's the dialogues and story that weren't subtle enough.

HOWEVER

I decided to proceed and watch the first season entirely and was pleasantly surprised by the very positive evolution of every character, they have an interesting development and the connection between them all feels less artificial. Moreover the HIMYM references aren't badly placed, they totally make sense in the story and are not present at a point where it would become annoying.

To summarize, i will say that it was a rocky but overall promising start, i really want to watch the next season and see where all of this is going, i would love a little more rock'n'roll (a thing that Barney used to bring in HIMYM), so wait for it...… Expand

And it tries so desperately to bridge the generation gap that there's literally a character explains modern slang and wokeness to the old people.
The jokes are so unfunny that if it weren't for the laugh track you'd have no idea you were watching a comedy.

For the "don't compare it to the original" brigade. It's literally called How I Met Your Father and has the same theme. What else did you expect people to do? As I saw in a review, How I Met Your Father is the worst of How I Met Your Mother. But even if you ignore the original, this is just horrendous.… Expand
