If you look at the negative reviews they generally say the same thing - pathetic politically correct meandering show with a pro-Muslim, pro-liberal anti-right political agenda. A general wailing and gnashing of teeth about how the show used to be about terrorists now it's all sermonising about how poor Muslims are the victims, assumptions made Hilary would win etc etc.
    Which is all

Which is all completely accurate - I would just like to add how boring and slow it is compared to older seasons, and how it is now stuffed full of Hollywood moments which are just completely unbelievable and make no sense.

Just another series with a political agenda and not so good directing/acting.
    Carrie got so boring!
So far the 6th season is the worst.
    More to come?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While I have greatly enjoyed Homeland over the years, this year seems like a blizzard of leftist talking points with a plot line thrown in. Whether it's Saul lecturing his Israeli sister over the settlement that she lives in, or alleged American war crimes being presented as fact, the ravages of PTSD, the Iranian nuclear deal actually being taken seriously, etc. etc. etc., it's just a bit heavy on the preaching.

Will still tune in out of habit, and to see if twists balance out the obvious political slant to the writing, but I'm almost at the point where I'll just cut to the chase and read the latest from Buzzfeed instead.

What happened? This show used to be great, and it morphed into garbage. The writing and acting are all terrible. Everyone is weak and confused, without direction. I LOVED the first 5 seasons, Carrie is such a great character. This season is such a garbage rendition of what I feel are writers' "vision" of the 2016 election. It's so obvious what they're doing its an insult to my intelligence. You ruined such a great part of my television life, you smug, pompous Homeland writers whomever you are.

After three episodes, I'm calling Time of Death. This is the most pathetic start to "Homeland" in its five seasons. It's boring, plodding, and tainted with more political crap that none of us wants to deal with after the insane election of 2016. Whoever drew up the architecture for this season is to be fired. But that's just me. If you want to see Carrie as a mommy, as a Muslim sympathizer, and a surrogate to a Hillary stand-in, then knock yourself out, but this isn't the same series it's been to now; and it's likely the final season. I don't see a renewal after this travesty. Movin' on. Expand

Very disappointing season (6 shows in) for the once very strong show. So disappointed with the extreme liberal left views on this show and now making our CIA organization to be similar with Putin's old KGB team. And don't even get me going with the incredibly stupid Quinn storyline - I'm surprised the actor went along with these scripts...pathetic. Just so frustrated with a show that once so good and so riveting...now, not sure what Danes is doing but she needs to stop the crap about being a lawyer for a person who hates America and get back to producing a good story about espionage. Very disappointed with you Claire and the rest of this team. Might be the last season for me.... Expand

If you're interested in a character who sounds like a valley girl on speed and has temper tantrums fill yer boots. Like every other season Homeland works best when the main character is nowhere in sight.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 'Homeland' used to be a great, amazing show but now it's still dwelling with the same character fatigue as the previous season. Claire Danes is flawless and it's great to see Rupert Friend alive and well but, was the renewal really necessary? Expand

Very sad and disappointed by what this series has morphed into. Are they caving to certain interest groups? Do they feel the need to take on what they don't understand (but think they do) about the 2016 election? Most people don't have a problem with reflection on the murky work of counter terrorism, and finding a policy that is effective. As in season's past, the first few episodes lay the foundation for the season. The fatigue of war in the Middle East is examined. With a new administration, how do we handle war, spying, terrorism, while keeping the homeland safe and remaining a free society? This show remains relevant.

This season's gripping narrative feels more significant of our times, than HOMELAND ever has. The terrorist insurgencies and obviously Claire Dante's outstanding performance. What more would you need from this show.

After a very slow start with the first episodes, Homeland has realy picked up the excitement with a bang. Just a couple of episodes after the first three and it flipped this season totally arround, from beeing slow and booring to very exciting and can't get enough of it. To those who is about to throw in the towell due to the first episodes, hang in there it will get much better.

Season 6 is maybe the best season so far. It is thoughtful and visionary, surprising and... depressive. Like a good wine, it gets better with age. Bravo!

This season has been a slow burn, but it certainly has now built into an excellent suspense thriller. It would have been even better if Dar Adal, had been caught out by pure leg work and brain power, by Carrie, Saul and Peter Quinn, rather than him letting himself open to silly mistakes. Great TV though, I hope they commision No.7.

It's just more and more unbelievable that anyone, even people that have only been in contact with Carrie for just 2 hours, would trust her to accomplish anything what so ever. Throughout all previous seasons miss Mathison grew to increasingly be the obnoxious egocentric she always has been. She acts as if everywhere she happens to be, is her Baghdad station over and over. Throughout all previous seasons miss Mathison grew to increasingly be the obnoxious egocentric she always has been. She acts as if everywhere she happens to be, is her Baghdad station over and over. Bossing everybody around, evermore loudly and evermore unhinged from reality and inter-human contact. The reason I start with this is because sane thought dictates that one cannot believe she would have the slightest credibility to even ask someone to pass the milk. That makes the show a cringe fest every time Carrie opens her (loud)mouth. Add to this the still rising amount of plot holes -still as in 'even more than in season 5', and you should understand that the show has become truly hard to watch. The holes get ever so more inane as well. I kept watching as to be able to find out what would happen in the end to the other characters. Especially Saul and Dar. I'll watch the first episode of S7 for sure. To know whether it gets better and more credible. If not, it will end there. It's hard to say what annoys the most. The unlikeliness of Carrie as a person of relevance or the teeth clenching plot holes. Expand

Season six is low in the series, save by the performance of Claire Danes, Elizabeth Marvel and Mandy Patinkin.

Homeland has lost the sense that it’s always a step ahead of our real-life worries. Besides transitional indigestion at the CIA, there’s not enough going on.

It’s smart writing for smart characters. Six seasons in and Danes and the writers keep Carrie a complicated character who sometimes does the wrong thing.
