Still watchable specially if you liked the first and second season, but it is quickly transforming into an easy, not-original thriller show. Still looking forward to see what happens next, but please writers, enough with the Clare Danes crying, I think we've seen enough of it throughout the other seasons.

I got to episode 6 and couldn't do it anymore. How the mighty have fallen: to think just a few seasons ago, I thought this might be one of the greatest shows ever made for TV. It seems the creators hadn't given much thought to the direction of the show after the great Brody story ended since last season saw the start of its decline in cohesive story lines and creativity. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Unbelievable bad season of one of the most intelligent series of all time. Almost everything is rebooted at the level of essentially brand new TV show, with very slim connection to any previous plot. Too long scenes aimed to produce 12 episodes, although there is no more material for 6 normal episodes, I just finished looking episode 5, this is one of the worst episodes of any TV series I ever looked in my life. Peter Quinn, as a professional hit man, after several days of fever caused by a gun wound, decides to kill himself wrapping his right arm to a cement brick(?!), and jump into river, but there is a random men from the street sent from God to stop him, five minutes after, same guy is again in the right time at the right place, after Peter Quinn(no one knows why?) desperately tries to open some regular street garbage container and goes to a black out. Russian KGB villain goes with Ciao Cacao farewell/greeting/joke to a double agent in CIA?! Russian Ciao Cacao? Holding hands, stay a little longer with me please? Is this a soap or a spy TV show? I am a huge fan of this show, this season is so below anything in previous four seasons, that is just can't understand why someone destroyed such a good story with such a bad scenario. Expand

Meh, It's not what it used to be.

There are way too many analogies with current events that tend to fall under the oversimplified and clichè.

The way past characters interact with each other makes it feel like it has beena decade away from season 4.

I am a big Homeland follower but this season leaves me cold. The weak storyline and low action over the first three episodes makes it hard to watch. This season doesn't compare to past seasons.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm glad I waited to the end of the season to write my review. I did not like the way the writers handled the Peter Quinn character. It made Carrie seem very cold and unlikable. I loathed the fact that Showtime appears to have killed him off after torturing him all season long. He is one of the more interesting characters in the show. So, this season for the abuse of actor Rupert Friend you have been downgraded to 2 stars from the usual 10 stars. (harsh? SO is death by sarin gas) I DO pay a monthly fee for this channel!! Expand

As good as advertised, as good as ever. The new additions to the cast (Sebastian Koch, Miranda Otto) are compelling and the old gang are spot on. Mix in topical themes cleverly handled, and you've got smart entertainment at its best.

A great start to Season 5 and this season might be the best yet if the quality of the show just slightly improves over the course of the Season. Very excited for the rest of the season.

As a Homeland fan it kills me to say this season so far is horrible. Who wrote season 5? Were the original writers kidnapped and being held in a Pakistani black site. I just don't understand what happened. As said before the story is weak, almost silly. Please pay the ransom and get the original writers back.

After one of it's best seasons we get the nadir. The shark has been jumped. This plot is all over the place silly. The plot holes are gargantuan. Saul seems to have gone walkabout. Are you kidding me? Finally the show gets off of the Damian Lewis / Brody storyline and people are complaining? Homeland is still going strong, I never write reviews but supergirl is rated above this show? You've got to be **** kidding me.

I'd say it's still the best show on television.

Season 5 has a very intelligent and relevant plot but some pacing flaws, specially towards the end, prevent it from being a complete success. Having said that, Homeland still has a solid identity and it's worth watching.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This season is so disappointing as it is so unbelievably silly. Yeah, the CIA suspects that one of theirs is a double agent so they let her free to run around covering up her tracks, murdering and giving misinformation (which of course they believe). Stupid. Meanwhile, Quinn has now become the new Superman. Within 9 days gets shot, almost dies and then is subjected to nerve gas. I'm surprised he didn't jump out of his hospital bed to search for the terrorists. Oh wait, that's probably next episode!

I loved Season 4. I almost got into this season, but I just couldn't buy the plot...especially Carrie's involvement. She has always pushed the boundary of what's believable, but now she's borderline magic. And why did the writers think we needed to see yet another Carrie off of her meds episode?

I think the show is toast. The Carrie character doesn't work anymore because her past makes

The thrilling moments are still there, the storyline is no so consistent but it's a great show though.

Viewers will have to decide how much good faith the show earned with its redemptive fourth season as its fifth one crawls in the direction of a plot. If this is the season in which Homeland aims to resolve its own contradictions and to deliver to its tortured characters some measure of understanding or peace, it would benefit, as my colleague Willa Paskin has noted, from a little bit more crazy.

The CIA office politics are getting old, but the topical references remain gripping.
