The best season so far. It has a great antagonist in a (this time) more overarching story arc. It deals with what it means to be an immortal. There are episodes that deal with being a young inexperienced immortal with Mac Leod as mentor who tries to help but knows that you have to experience the fallout / mistakes first hand to convince yourself. There are episodes that deal with being a young inexperienced immortal with Mac Leod as mentor who tries to help but knows that you have to experience the fallout / mistakes first hand to convince yourself. Then there are episodes that deal with older immortals who changed with time. They show the impact, fallout and decision brilliantly. You feel with the characters and feel often the pain too. For the new characters we have David Robb as Kalas who is well developed and a worthy adversary. He is a good schemer and adapts his plan to get the most out of it. His motives are also understandable and well explained. With Peter Wingfields character we have a deep and mysterious person where I cant spoil details. With Anne Lindsay played by Lisa Howard we have a new love interest for Duncan. She is also a well developed but maybe a bit underused character. Story: There is an overarching story arc that starts a bit late and overarching themes. They did a good job here as it was not only interesting. You feel an attachment to the characters and understand their motives. Again the soundtrack and special effects are really good. Overall an impressive season with many good episodes. My favourite episodes are: “The Samurai” because it shows what Duncan is made of and the backstory how he got his Katana, “The Revolutionary” cant spoil, “Rite of Passage” for its story and insights, “Courage” for its sad story and character development, “The Lamb” cant spoil, “Song of the Executioner” for the set up, Methos for the story, “Blind Faith” for the story and conclusion and the final two parter “Finale” for the breathtaking story that threatens everything.
