This is a show for Highlander fans and one of the few entries in the franchise that are really good. They added a lot of interesting lore, history, rules and lots of memorable characters. Be warned: Its the story of Duncan Mac Leod (Adrian Paul) not Connor Mac Leod (Christopher Lambert). Also it is a soft reboot or restart. They added a lot of interesting lore, history, rules and lots of memorable characters. Be warned: Its the story of Duncan Mac Leod (Adrian Paul) not Connor Mac Leod (Christopher Lambert). Also it is a soft reboot or restart. Think of it as Highlander 1 did not happen or far in the future as there are still many immortals around (Would be boring if not). For the characters we have Duncan who delivers the weight of his immortal live. You get melancholy, the weight of bitter decisions, past mistakes (You can not live for centuries without making errors or enemies), regret but also hope, friendship, gentleness and an undying will to do what is right (No pun intended). There is Tessa Noel (Alexandra Vandernoot) who is his mortal significant other and a talented artist. They deal a lot with the problems of being immortal when all others are mortal. Then we have Richie Ryan (Stan Kirsch) who has an interesting arc and character development over the series. With Darius we have some of the most interesting characters and he should have had a bigger role. With Xavier St Cloud and James Horton we have 2 enjoyable villains that will defiantly return. I always praise the costumes in the flashbacks and the art style. Don't know how historic accurate it is but it looks really good. Then there are the fights. They deliver well done martial arts and of cause swordplay. There was no boring battle in the series. When you say Highlander you must also say Queen. Princes of the Universe is just awesome. Freddy Mercury was a legend and one of the best artist we had. The overall score is really good and I often searched for some songs on the internet. My favorite episodes are “For tomorrow we die” (Xavier St Cloud is a so enjoyable diabolic villain), “Band of Brothers” (For its story, intensity and climax), “The Hunters” (Cant tell because spoilers) and “Bad day in Building A” (For the setting). Overall a real good start for this series. My only complaint is that not all episodes are as intense as the before mentioned. Expand

The Quickening (tm) is an opportunity for self reflection on one's own character. There can be only Truth: right relationship. There is no success in not-right relationship.

Highlander is one of the best TV shows of the 90s. Every season became better than the last one, reaching the highest point of creativity and quality during season 4. The characters are complex and every episode show us the life of Duncan McLeod in its different times.

Bigger than life plays smaller than life on the smaller tube ... But the production values are high and there's a solid attempt at infusing the script with humor. The series might grow on us. We have an eternity. [2 Oct 1992]

Majority of dialogue in the flat story is trite. ... Performances are earnest — one too much so — but not enough to convince viewers there’s more here than meets the droopy eyelid.
