Good documentary that tells the story of the people behind the creation and expansion of the video games industry.

I knew the toxic alt-right would bomb review this as soon as they see a minority talking about videogames. Great job proving the gaming community is the worst.

The series has some interesting topics discussed but it feels it needs to force in pointless political narratives that offer very little to the episodes as a whole, and generally feel like a waste of time.

The series has some interesting topics discussed but it feels it needs to force in pointless political narratives that offer very little to the episodes as a whole, and generally feel like a waste of time.

We want to talk about a video game tournament, well lets find the one person who is transgender and highlight them.
We are talking about RPGs and just showed Amano who is famous among Final Fantasy fans. Let's randomly transition to a gay man during the AIDS pandemic, spouting vitriol against preachers and Republicans. He made this one game that nobody has heard of and it literarily no longer exists, but he says it happened so that's enough to include him.

These decisions feel forced and redirect the narrative being built. They also feel completely out of place when surrounded by titans in gaming history.

My other gripe is every clip of gameplay shown from games made in the past 20 years, always look like somebody recorded the game being played on a tv or computer. There are obvious lines across the screen and it looks terrible. There's really no excuse for that.

This is a film about gay, black and feminists who made second-rate games. Typical shiitflix

Thought this would talk more about the real history and makers of video games. Instead it’s quickly turns into a trans guy, and some guy who says he made an RPG but lost it, haha! Instead it’s quickly turns into a trans guy, and some guy who says he made an RPG but lost it, haha! What? oh and he’s gay and the “right wing” was mean to him. What a coincidence! Who cares? What does this have to do with video games? Why does Netflix insist on inserting their politics and a “lesson” in every single thing? Video games are under attack by these people. Did they forget how to entertain? The answer is yes. Canceling my sub. Expand

Why add politics into a video game documentary? Not worth watching for the actual video game content.

High Score: Putting the Gay in Gamer

Woke politics don't belong here. It would be a much higher score without the woke agenda crap.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First episodes were actually ok, but more you watch, the more you're bombarded by nothing else but propaganda.
We got gay that made a game that noone knows, noone cares and even there are no trace of it. We got trans boy/girl that won an arcade years ago and it's more important to constantly tell that she's trans than something about games. There's also black guy that his reason that he's in document it's that his father was into this industry, but more important is that he's black.. after that my **** went out. Don't wanna lose any more second on it.

The RPG episode jumped from Sierra to Ultima to final fantasy to an obscure gender identity game, which I assume was meant to give the series a sense of emotional magnitude? To me it just felt disjointed. Expand
