Season 1 Review:
Through the 3 (of 13) episodes provided for review, there’s still a lot more suggestion than information, and plotting that’s probably meant to be cleverly elliptical--important characters who appear out of nowhere, story points that are made clear a few beats too late--is just confusing.

Season 3 Review:
The writers were obviously angling for a mysterious sensibility with the supernatural aspect of the show being talked about rather than seen (ala Game of Thrones, or The Leftovers), but delivered on the backs of a weak story and weaker characters, the supernatural expounding only adds to the sluggish pacing.

Season 2 Review:
Mostly, the show exists for its gross-out moments, always a staple of the latenight TV/movies-studios-don’t-screen-for-critics circuit. Still, it’s not like there’s a shortage of places to find either, and the plotting is so haphazard there’s scant incentive to hang around for this season’s 10 hours.

As a for-profit visual arts experience, Hemlock Grove is terrible in ways that mock the meaning of the word "terrible," with clunky acting, tra-la-la transitions and at least one monster that walks like a bad Frankenstein and appears to be wearing the very same wig/hat we used.
