Hell on Wheels started out with a good season 1 and has improved itself season to season. Something I have noticed about Season 4 is the great cinematography. So many scenes have moments that would make beautiful still pictures. The characters are intriguing. Their struggles are conveyed to the viewer, and at times felt. What a great show that so many people are missing out on because it is rarely noticed. Expand

Again Hell on Wheels proves to be a great show. The main characters are well acted and the real reason I watch the show is how compelling the main characters from Cullen Bohannon the wild west alpha male leader, Thomas Durant's selfish shady dealing and the Swedes cunning and total lack of morals. All the time trying to outsmart each other and those around them

Hell on Wheels plays with big ideas about redemption, sin and forgiveness, so Cullen’s detour and the religious component of other subplots fit the show’s tone and direction. But at some point it would still be good for Cullen to get back into the track-and-crossties game.

Those standoffs [Cullen/Swede and Durant and Wyoming governor John Campbell (Jake Weber)] only mildly elevate Hell's flat writing.
