The connection between the protagonist are incredible. The Christmas event added to the show gives us a special family feeling.

I don't like Disney dangling Kingpin in front of the screen as if I'm amused by the corpse of a show I used to like.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointed. It tries to be funny, but it is mostly cheesy and groan worthy, especially the caricatures of the Russian gangsters. It creates a tonal dissonance with the rest of the show that is trying to be more serious. Worse, Hailee is not cut out for this type of role. She is 25 in real life, her character is supposed to be 22, yet she portrays a petulant teenager most of the time. Maybe this is her idea of pluck, but mostly she comes across as grating, arrogant and entitled. She hams it up all the time and is barely watchable. And they make Jeremy Renner's character a pushover who happily goes along with this irritating adolescent, even dumping his family for Christmas. Why? The plot twists make little sense and loose ends are not tied up - why was Armande killed? How did the Rolex and the Ronin stuff end up at the auction so casually? How did Maya know about the Rolex and why did she want it? Why did she not know about the Ronin suit at the auction? Was her pursuit of Ronin purely accidental then? Why did she leave the Rolex lying about in her apartment carelessly and didn't mind losing it? How did the TSM identify Kate as the one in the Ronin suit? Why did they go to her apartment (which was obscure) and not her mother's (which was much more well known)?

And the most baffling of all, why did Hawkeye not take the Ronin suit when running from the burning apartment when that was the sole purpose of his pursuit? He comes back later to not find it, and that triggers the whole LARPers thread which was a total eye roll. Again, they tried to milk it for laughs, but only induced cringes - it just did not fit the flow or tone of the show.

It is also unbelievable that 22 year old Kate Bishop with little training (outside of rich kid sports lessons) can go toe to toe with the likes of Maya and Yelena, or even survive a stupid encounter with the Kingpin. With no real apprenticeship, she is able to shoot as well as Hawkeye, sees fit to dump him on a roof while she goes on a mission, and then takes over as Hawkeye in the end!!

Understandably, this is all super hero make believe stuff. Still, this show treats its audience with as little gray matter as possible. If you are am MCU fan and must follow all the lore, then go for it. Else, save your sanity and skip it!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This show is very good, funny, and emotional, my favorite is the scene where Kate helped Clint talk to his son, which was very touching. The way they hinted at the movie villain bit by bit is also interesting, it piqued my curiosity a lot. I can't wait to see how they develop this show. Hoping for a happy ending for everyone Expand

Point merde.

+Hilarious avengers musical segment
-Intriguing but overstated plot
-Average fight choreography ruined by quick edits and cuts

After a strong start from the 2012 opening with young kate followed by a cool animated training montage, we're straight in the mix of things with a fully grown up kate bishop - sadly as the episode progresses it's clear Hailee is not a natural when it comes to the fight choreography and the quick cuts and edits gave me terrible iron fist flashbacks so if this is something that bothered you, take this as a warning.

Into episode 2 and its clear the plot and characters are very tongue in cheek - this is not a drama and more like a family friendly action comedy a-la chuck. Its ok but so far nothing that we haven't already enjoyed across the MCU-disney-verse. Overall im disappointed with the action scenes and plot - hopefully things improve.

These were the bad points of Hawkeye.
Now I'm gonna talk about the good points, it has the most outstanding cast, Kate Bishop is an excellent addition to the MCU, also Clint Barton gets his best development throughout this franchise and characters like Maya, Yelena, Eleonor Bishop and you know who else give it a lot of freshness and for me that was the only reason for which I was interested in this TV show.

It’s well filmed, with a great cast and that’s it.

The fights are clumsy and boring, the villains completely forgettable, the jokes terrible and the twists beyond predictable. The series would work better as an adult drama with a proper grim Hawkeye and you feel Jeremy Renner is begging for it. But Hailey Steinfeld’s character turns the show into something so Disney Channel it’s painful. When she gets her own show it will just be the Hannah Montana of crossbow and that’s fine because there is an audience for that. But Hawkeye is stretched between two vibes and none are working.

He should be a rough loner à la Wolverine, not some co-parenting vigilante!

Just like WandaVision, Hawkeye starts quite fun with some intriguing moments. The show embraces the ''christmas series'' genre in the initial episodes, but loses the funny holiday tone of the narrative progressively. Even though the show tries to demonstrate that not every cinematographic history of super heroes NEEDS to be self-serious on the first episodes, this feature is forgotten as they introduce new ''really dangerous'' characters. Moreover, Marvel needs to create a decent script for the funny moments, it gets really cheesy here and there. Despite the company efforts to innovate and create an exotic character introduction, it all ends just like WandaVision: abandoning the initial quaint characteristic and finishing with lots of CGI and battles. In spite of all that, the show has its joyful moments and is quite enjoyable, even if ocassionaly disappointing. Expand

Complete with a dad that has to be home by christmas, a precocious teenager, hapless villains that can't shoot straight, an evil would-be stepfather, and a feral dog of impossibly glossy coat & even-tempered disposition.

"Hawkeye" isn't passing on the torch of the Avengers. It's Hannah Montana with slapstick bows and arrows.

This is what happens when Disney's division of bland, saccharine, unchallenging after-school entertainment is handed major IP to play with, and not surprisingly, it is anodyne pap.

The set up takes a bit and I see the first 2 episodes as weaker but after this the show is truly excellent until the end with one exception where they wasted a great character. The character interaction and chemistry is what me made to love the show. Hawkeye and Kate have such a great chemistry as do Kate and Florence Pughs character. It end s not there as Maya and William Lopez work well and I also truly enjoy Jack Duquesne, the LARPers and Eleanor Bishop to name a few. The story is on a smaller more personal scale and it works well for me. Not everything needs to be about saving the world or half the universe. After a flashback to the climax of the first Avengers movie where Kate experienced Clint Barton / Hawkeye and was inspired to be a hero we switch to modern day. The events of Endgame happened and the world is seemingly normal again. Clint just wants to celebrate Christmas with his family when his past as Ronin catches up to Kate and him. With this the events start. Like I already said it takes a while before it gets really good. I was fully entertained and the humor, characters and twist work well. To be fair I must say they took a bit too much stuff into the later episodes and maybe 1 or 2 episodes more for better development and flash out events could work better. Lets go to the characters. Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton is excellent and fully delivers. Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop truly surprised me in a positive way. She is excellent too and together these 2 are the bread and butter of the show. The other characters are well done too. I especially liked Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, the very great Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, Zahn McClarnon even with such a small role, Florence Pughs character who is even better than expected, the LARPers and of cause the Tracksuits. However there is a huge misstep with Vincent D’Onofrio’s character. Such a disappointment and probably the weakest version of this character to date. To clarify: The actor does a great job and it is he script I blame for this disappointment. As sidenote: This can ruin the experience as others had higher expectations than me especially if you know the better versions. Sidenote 2: Remembered an old movie trope “That you have not seen this characters fate. You only assume this happened (I am vague to not spoil events). The humor works well too and there are great moments. The musical for example is so good I can see me watching this in real live and I hate those normally. The fight scenes are well done and entertaining. Bonus for the good ending. Overall I see a great show with some weaknesses. There is 10/10 material but the weaker start and some mistakes let me drop the rating to a 7/10. Expand

What you think will happen, probably doesn't end up happening by the end, it's got enough surprises to keep you guessing and keep enjoying the ride. I think Hailey is ready for the big time in the MCU, there are times here when she is even MORE cool than Hawkeye and that's not easy to do at all. I would like to recognise that this show works the grief really well, and that's something important to underline.
The series itself feels small compared to other MCU products, and with no impact in a short-term universe development.

When Marvel announced that Phase 4 of their ambitious and huge cinematic universe would intertwine their movies with several shows that were going to be available on Disney Plus, I really wasn't sure of how that mix would turn out.

There were some good things like WandaVision and Loki. Other middling ones like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and What If...?
But Hawkeye was about one of the original 6 Avengers, so it carried a different set of expectations, especially since in my opinion that show lent itself well to the writers exploring the dark side of Clint Barton and his aftermath after what he did as Ronin.

However that wasn't the focus and that's why Hawkeye is so far the most inconsequential Marvel series of all those released so far.

Primarily this is because this series actually makes it clear pretty quickly that its only function was to introduce and position Hailee Steinfeld in the MCU and incidentally also give continuity to Florence Pugh's character after Black Widow, but really this story doesn't seem to have any significant weight in the future of the whole complex Marvel storytelling process.
Even with the appearance of Kingpin and that Echo will also get her own series on Disney Plus.

Entertaining in the basics, but absolutely trivial.

Hawkeye to me was always such an underrated Avenger. As hinted at in Black Widow (2021) he fought against her and won while sparing her. Took down Loki from the sky in Avengers (2012), was the only Avenger to not get brainwashed in Age ofHawkeye to me was always such an underrated Avenger. As hinted at in Black Widow (2021) he fought against her and won while sparing her. Took down Loki from the sky in Avengers (2012), was the only Avenger to not get brainwashed in Age of Ultron (2015), fought a super-powered and armoured Black Panther in Civil War (2016), take down many gangs single-handedly during the Blip, managed to outrun and kill all the Aliens chasing him alone in Endgame (2019). So I was happy that he was finally getting the solo project he deserved. The premise is "Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton's past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit". So does this show hit the target or fail to hit the mark? The main leads, Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) have wonderful chemistry. They are phenomenal when together on screen. The whole show feels like a buddy cop adventure for the two and it just works. Clint is the reluctant old person while Kate is the wide-eyed enthusiastic young one. Both of them go through great character developments as well. Clint starts to learn to live with the past and grows more invested in Kate's problem. Kate learns that superhero life isn't all sunshine and rainbows with her understanding the consequences and responsibilities with the role. Both have great banter together that can be quite funny but there are some heart-warming moments as well. Examples include Kate helping Clint due to him losing his hearing aids or Clint telling Kate about Natasha. Those two are not the only ones with great chemistry though. Yelena (Florence Pugh) returns since her prior appearance in Black Widow (2021). She ends up meeting Kate in the show and these two have their special dynamic that is hilarious to watch. They have a frenemy dynamic in which Yelena wants to kill Clint but Kate doesn't want that, yet they both don't hate each other. I also love the phone conversations between Clint and his wife Laura (Linda Cardellini) as it is very lovely and I do feel the love between the two. The supporting cast is great as well. Vera Farmiga plays Kate's mother Eleanor Bishop and feels like a loving mother while Tony Dalton plays the new upbeat but weird stepdad Jack Duquesne. My biggest praise goes to Alaqua Cox performance as Maya aka Echo. She is deaf and never speaks in the show but is still able to give a very badass and menacing performance but also deliver some emotive performance through facial expressions and body language alone. I'm not surprised she is getting her MCU show. Another highlight has got to be the action sequences. A memorable one is episode 3 with the awesome one v one fight, the Hawkeye bow John Wick sequence, and the amazing car chased sequence with part of the sequence being filmed like it was one take that was quite impressive. There is also a great all-out rooftop fight in episode 4 and an amazing episode 6 action sequence that is an absolute blast to watch. In terms of set design, the Christmas setting livens it up and makes the screen pop out more. The music score is also fine for the most part but the use of Christmas music is utilised well. One problem that Marvel live-action shows had so far is that it starts strong but ends weak. Thankfully, this is not the case in Hawkeye as its final episode is wonderful and is a great ending to the show.

However, the first two episodes are quite slow. It is mostly spent on building up Kate's character and setting up the mysteries that this show will revolve around. The thing is that it takes a long time for it to build this up and there isn't much excitement happening. Clint is barely involved in the first two episodes and doesn't even properly become involved in the plot until the end of episode 2. This causes the show to feel like the Kate Bishop show rather than about Clint. It also doesn't help that the action scenes in the first two episodes are bad with it being overly edited with quick cuts. There is also an ongoing mystery about the stepdad, Jack, that is so uninteresting and predictable to the point that I was wishing they go back to Clint. Thankfully, there is a mystery concerning who the big boss is that is very interesting. Additionally, the other issues such as action and it feeling like the Kate show is fixed in episode 3 onwards.

Overall, Hawkeye might be one of the best Marvel shows so far. It feels more consistent and doesn't dip in quality. Each episode of the show feels like it is getting better and better which made for a more pleasant viewing experience. Unfortunately, it feels like people are sleeping on this show just because it is about Hawkeye. I think this is a great show that hits the target and people should give this one a shot.

Half of this felt like boring filler and the other half were fun and enjoyable. The action scenes never got really good in my opinion. There’s a half decent one with a car towards the beginning of the series but the rest were really bland. They had fun moments but were never really great. Some of the side characters were really boring. Vera Farmiga’s character along with her boyfriend were incredibly bland but their actors did a great job. The strongest part of this series was the performances and chemistry between Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. Hailee Steinfeld’s character is a great addition to the MCU and I’m excited to see where she goes next and Renner was a lot of fun to watch. It was nice getting a small scale Hawkeye centric story. Florence Pugh’s Yelena made a short appearance and left another great impact as she did in Black Widow and a lot of her moments were really funny and the return of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin from the Daredevil series was great although I had issues with him in the finale but that goes into spoilers. Speaking of the finale, it wasn’t great. Unfortunately, this show bats 0 for 4 in terms of finales. This finale was the best although it was very bland and anticlimactic in my opinion. I would recommend checking this out if you want a fun Hawkeye story of Christmas story but other than that, you can probably pass on this. Expand

The Connection between Hawkeye and Kate Bishop was very well written, good structured and they had a good chemistry all the way.

But (not everything before this word is **** the whole series was just mediocre for me. It was okay, but I never felt having a blast and there where only minor "WOW"-Effects, for example Loki and Wandavision were way superior on quality. So all in all its okay to watch, but some episodes were boring. Its an okay start for the Hawkeye and Bishop journey, but nothing really impressive.

Marvel stop making anti-russian propaganda. It's so stupid and ridiculous... I know so many Russian people and no one speaks with that strong accent that you show in your movies/series

I would argue that Hawkeye successfully executed what it set out to do much better than almost all of the other Disney+ shows we've seen thus far. It's focused and tight with great pace and little filler throughout. A much more grounded and small scale outing for the MCU, allowing for a heaver focus on compelling character development and emotional weight. Also, Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh are two of the best things to happen to the MCU in quite a while. Expand

Pretty average to say the least. It seems they did a Cut and Paste of Captain and Falcon which was already average. I feel like the whole point of the season was to introduce a new character.

Liked Kate Bishop and Clint Barton's dynamic in the show, however. I didn't really like how the show didn't have really any stakes.

I appreciate Hawkeye getting more love and a more fleshed-out character. Kate is quite an interesting character and would be a fine member of the young avengers. Yelena is back and just as amazing as ever!!! The action scenes are pretty epic if you ask me but the fight choreography is just average. One thing I will complain about is Kingpin's character doesn't feel like a kingpin. He isn't cool, he is just some boring guy in the show. The plot is intriguing but overstated by the characters. Elaina and kate bishop had great chemistry. There was a lot of wasted potential with kingpen. They introduced him in the last episode and they just kind of had him punch some people and then he fake died. Also the show feels like the hole reason it starts is because a teenage girl made a dumb mistake. Expand
