This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very good series for five episodes, only to then sensationally slip into the finale, with the resolution of all the most important clashes being ridiculous. Marvel has to remember that if you release nine products a year, not all of them have to end well. Not that Hawkeye had to end badly eh but the final episode is among the ugliest things ever produced by Marvel Studios. Too bad, because it greatly lowers the vote for the series. Expand

What saves this from being a uninspiring, mundane mess is the performance of Hailee Steinfeld, who adds an element of fun and freshness particularly to the action scenes.

it was literally haliee steinfield show she was amazing
each and every episode was entertaining the christmas setting and the story was awesome
the characters were fun weather it is bro's gang or cosplay peoples and the dog was amazing too
the mothers twist was surprising and the step dad whole surprising thing and at last his fight alongside kate was amazing thing too. the whole murder mystry and some bits like the police meet after kate got a call some stuff like these were felt sidelined although the cat and mouse thing between echo's revenge to kill ronin and action scenes and chase scene of them was awesome, the kate's millionarie life and obsession with hawkeye that overall character was awesome. the hawkeye's family and other sacrifices above that the black widows thing and at last the yaleena's interaction with him was satisfying. yaleena's cameo was amazing love the pasta meet and the lift fight between her and kate, the whole coustume and mantle name jokes of kate were funny and the refernces from comics were great, the last episode was dramatic the whole king-pin thing felt rushed although the episode was engaging to watch the fight at last with arrows it was awesome and the ending was satisfying so does whole show, Overall it was a fun and entertaining show!

Personally i enjoyed this more than Loki or Wandavision. While being less original and spectacular as those shows, the main characters are much more fun in this one. This hurt, tired version of Hawkeye is the best one the character has had so far on screen, and Steinfeld`s Kate Bishop is a delight to see. The plot/mystery isn`t the best, but i was ok just watching these characters going around.

    Deliriously fun and enjoyable.
The chemistry between the leads was effortlessly portrayed, Florence Pugh was also a major highlight.
The series was a good origin story for Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) and also helped spotlight one of the least raved about avenger (Clint Barton).
The fight scenes were well-done, and the comedic undertones the series had were delightful.

November 26 6/10: At this point, I've only seen episode 1 (I'll be sure to update it when I've seen the rest) so far a solid show, Hawkeye is a perfect choice to get his own TV show, I can already see some potential good plots sprouting, and the acting is all there. I'm not entirely sold on it however, so far it just hasn't grabbed me with an interesting concept, but it is only Episode 1November 26 6/10: At this point, I've only seen episode 1 (I'll be sure to update it when I've seen the rest) so far a solid show, Hawkeye is a perfect choice to get his own TV show, I can already see some potential good plots sprouting, and the acting is all there. December 30, 8/10: After seeing the whole show and sitting on it for a while, I've come to the conclusion that once you get past the first sluggish in plot episode this show actually gets a footing and becomes quite enjoyable to watch. I like that Hawkeye is given a new light while also expanding with a new generation of characters that don't actively step on their predecessor's toes or are completely useless. They make the characters seem human and enjoyable, Hawkeye's wife gets a little bit of development in the mix too. The main villain Maya is average and I can't see her holding up another show on her own, Wilson Fisk was a good choice of character but was a wasted opportunity. I think they did the main characters very right in this movie while the villains seem lackluster when compared to other Marvel villains. Overall it's a really enjoyable show and I honestly hope this is one that gets a second season.

First of all, it should be noted that Kate Bishop was cast phenomenally. She fits the role perfectly, is just like I imagined and there is a very good chemistry with Hawkeye. The two harmonize and also have the best moments in the series, but (not everything before that word sucks) they can't push the series to very good heights.

Hawkeye just lacks the WOW effect. It's just a solid

Hawkeye just lacks the WOW effect. It's just a solid average that you like to finish but probably forgot the next day. In terms of quality, the series is miles away from Loki and Wandavision in particular. There were too many scenes or episodes that just splashed around and were just not interesting. The tracksuits were hardly funny or boring either. Even if there was more to it, which also makes the last two episodes very good and interesting, that was not enough. If it hadn't been for the last two episodes, the rating would have dropped even further.

    So there are 6/10 arrows.

The set up takes a bit and I see the first 2 episodes as weaker but after this the show is truly excellent until the end with one exception where they wasted a great character. The character interaction and chemistry is what me made to love the show. Hawkeye and Kate have such a great chemistry as do Kate and Florence Pughs character. It end s not there as Maya and William Lopez work well and I also truly enjoy Jack Duquesne, the LARPers and Eleanor Bishop to name a few. The story is on a smaller more personal scale and it works well for me. Not everything needs to be about saving the world or half the universe. After a flashback to the climax of the first Avengers movie where Kate experienced Clint Barton / Hawkeye and was inspired to be a hero we switch to modern day. The events of Endgame happened and the world is seemingly normal again. Clint just wants to celebrate Christmas with his family when his past as Ronin catches up to Kate and him. With this the events start. Like I already said it takes a while before it gets really good. I was fully entertained and the humor, characters and twist work well. To be fair I must say they took a bit too much stuff into the later episodes and maybe 1 or 2 episodes more for better development and flash out events could work better. Lets go to the characters. Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton is excellent and fully delivers. Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop truly surprised me in a positive way. She is excellent too and together these 2 are the bread and butter of the show. The other characters are well done too. I especially liked Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, the very great Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, Zahn McClarnon even with such a small role, Florence Pughs character who is even better than expected, the LARPers and of cause the Tracksuits. However there is a huge misstep with Vincent D’Onofrio’s character. Such a disappointment and probably the weakest version of this character to date. To clarify: The actor does a great job and it is he script I blame for this disappointment. As sidenote: This can ruin the experience as others had higher expectations than me especially if you know the better versions. Sidenote 2: Remembered an old movie trope “That you have not seen this characters fate. You only assume this happened (I am vague to not spoil events). The humor works well too and there are great moments. The musical for example is so good I can see me watching this in real live and I hate those normally. The fight scenes are well done and entertaining. Bonus for the good ending. Overall I see a great show with some weaknesses. There is 10/10 material but the weaker start and some mistakes let me drop the rating to a 7/10. Expand

Hailee Steinfeld was horribly miscast as Hawkeye. Take a look at Scarlett Johansson and Brie Larson, and how hard they trained for their MCU roles. Hailee looks like she's doing cheerleading in her fight scenes. It's embarrassing. Horrible director too. He needs to learn choreography. A rushed show with low effort

Hailee Steinfeld, who has been impressive since debuting in True Grit so long ago, is very good as Kate Bishop, who partners with Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, who's expression should be pictured in the dictionary under "hangdog". 3 Episodes in and this is fun. Who'd have guessed that Jeremy Renner would be pulling off a Lethal Weapon's Danny Glover at age 50.

And I think Hailee Stainfeld deserves a lot of credit here too, mainly due to her charisma and comedic timing.

The fights are clumsy and boring, the villains completely forgettable, the jokes terrible and the twists beyond predictable. The series would work better as an adult drama with a proper grim Hawkeye and you feel Jeremy Renner is begging for it. But Hailey Steinfeld’s character turns the show into something so Disney Channel it’s painful. When she gets her own show it will just be the Hannah Montana of crossbow and that’s fine because there is an audience for that. But Hawkeye is stretched between two vibes and none are working.

He should be a rough loner à la Wolverine, not some co-parenting vigilante!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My family watched the first episode, but my wife and I did not want to continue. We acquiesced to my son who wanted to watch the second episode. It was worst than the first in my opinion. Even my son said it was "ok" with a shrug. In a nutshell, the show is uninteresting, insipid, and unexciting. The show isn't about Hawkeye, it's about Kate Bishop. They're just using the Hawkeye name to get people watching like a bait and switch. Even if it is about Kate Bishop, she is an annoying character with a head-scratching relationship with her mom. The plot is awful. I cite these examples: the dog suddenly biting the man's leg just to introduce the dog; Kate being able to fit the Ronin suit without looking oversized; destroying the bell tower and top of the building with no consequence, jail anyone?; her wearing a waiter's suit to blend in like a waiter, and being complemented for it. It's a waiter's outfit for goodness sake, not a designer outfit! In the second episode, that whole LARPing thing is unbelievably inane; a firefighter stealing the costume is damn idiotic; the firefighter is idiotic; the fencing dual was so she could prove the boyfriend lied! Childish! The overall treatment of the Marvel universe as some meta joke is a lame direction. Everything is a joke, so nothing really matters. I was going to give it a 3 for production value and a hint of Clint's trauma like his hearing, but after re-reading my own review, I give it a 2 because the rest of it is garbage. I like both Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld. She is good in Transformers Bumblebee, and Jeremy Renner is a good actor and person overall. He put his daughter first before his acting. In the end, the writing here is just the lowest moronic stuff. Expand

However, that first impression was SO DULL and the characters had zero motivation that I was not inclined to even bother continuing. Does it get better? The first episode gave me no reason to care.

It's not awful like the opener of Iron Fist, but it wandered around pretty badly.

There’s a lot to like here, most of it coming from Steinfeld. It feels like a superhero movie from the 2010s, all snarky quips and bombastic fight scenes – though it is strange neither Hawkeye nor Kate use their famed arrow skills in such action sequences. But the storyline is complicated, and you have to deeply care for Marvel lore to be invested in the mystery of Ronin’s suit and his missing sword (told you to swot up).
