The departure of Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim) and Kono Kalakaua (Grace Park) has removed two key characters from the show that gave the show balance and depth. Having seen the whole season, it is apparent that this has been a major mistake. While the new characters are OK, they feel more like replaceable sidekicks. They also miserably fail to give the show balance.

Reasonable version of the original, but hard to follow when Dan-o isn’t even required to be in an episode half the time. Also does not play well with the departure of the two Hawaiian characters. These need to be replaced by other believable Hawaiian characters. This is set in Hawaii after all. Also don’t like the partners in a restaurant sub plot. Not believable either.

This show is slipping - scripts and acting are not as good as they have been in the past. While I enjoy a good cop action drama, this one is on life support and fading as far as I’m concerned. Would not be surprised if CBS pulls the plug after this season.

    Addendum:
Recent episodes have not done anything to raise the caliber of this show. The inane restaurant sub-plot won’t go away. Hoped CBS would pull the plug this year, but it got renewed. Too bad. Friday night deserves something better.
