It's always come off as incredibly petty for the sake of creating some fake drama at the cost of believability. This season the town's pain relieved sheriff's unjustified targeting of the charming smuggler immediately reaches new heights of hatefulness. So now not only is the character dull, but a jerk as well. This might not have been as bad had he not been one of the show's three main protagonists, but unfortunately he is. Not only that, but he's also Audrey's main love interest. His presence is just another anchor dragging Haven down.

For the most part season 3 is just more of the same. The presence of a serial killer in town does little to derail Haven's new case an episode approach. The writing is still rather dopey and the characters continue to have severe lapses in judgment to the point of coming off as mentally stunted. There are also a lot of plot holes and absurd conveniences. I applaud the final few episodes for at last giving us some long overdue answers. Not every mystery is revealed, but we do get a better idea of what's going on.

Haven fans can take comfort in knowing that the series is still at about at the same quality. So it will deliver more of what they enjoy. The rest of us who have stuck around this long should probably just give up. There's no sign of improvement on the horizon. While the revelations are appreciated, they do little to change the fact that the show is still just treading water in it's third outing.
