I don't usually like these types of films. You know ... small country towns (especially in the deep south) and slowly developing plots. Poor acting and marginal scripts only exacerbate the dislike. Not the case in Hap and Leonard! Even so, if the success of H&L depended entirely on the individual efforts of James Purfoy and Michael Kenneth Williams it would be top drawer. TheI don't usually like these types of films. Even so, if the success of H&L depended entirely on the individual efforts of James Purfoy and Michael Kenneth Williams it would be top drawer. The interaction between the two sets H&L apart. Black isn't important. White isn't important. Freindship is key and the two actors interact with a smoothness and efficiency seldom attained. Don't get me wrong.... racism and lgbt rights are essential factors in plot quality .... just not the interaction of the two protagonists. In addition to addressing these social ills Leonard is a decorated vet suffering from PTSD. The writers should bask in their accomplishment especially when considered H&L is done in the pulp fiction genre. The cast of supporting actors bears mention: Typhony Mack and Douglas M. Griffin are noteworthy and actually deserve lead roles in the future. Excellent viewing ... you'll find yourself wanting more when the season conclude....... Expand

The Two-Bear Mambo feels as agile as previous “Hap and Leonard” chapters, which is quite a feat considering how dire and urgent the plot is from its first moment.

Even more so than past years, the new season of Hap And Leonard is deceptively breezy and charming.

Every time you think you have Hap and Leonard pegged, it heads off toward something different. It’s pulp, but with its head firmly on its shoulders.
