H&CF may have only been 4 seasons long, but it was probably the most thought-provoking and intelligently written show I've ever seen in my life. I wish this had gotten nominated for major awards, because it truly should have. I know lack of views and advertising had a lot to do with that. For those who always stayed with it though, we know it, because we know we'll never forget about it.

Probably my favorite season of the year and definitely the best of the show. The writing is better than ever and the acting is just as good. But the best thing about this are the characters, so well writen and portraied, i've enjoyed follow the journey of every single one of then, including the daughters, Haley and Joanie, by the way, i would gladly watch a Haley spin-off.

    I'll for sure

What a show this became. In the end it was never really about the tech, just 5 flawed characters trying to achieve something with themselves and feel a connection with somebody else.

A wonderful series which knew when not to out stay its welcome and was subtle in its delivery. Even when addressing gay and gender questions it did so with a light touch.
Four series was just about right for HaCF. I imagine everyone my age loved it as it transported us back to a time long forgotten aka the 80s and 90's and not just the fantastic backing track but the whole feel, fashion,

Four series was just about right for HaCF. I imagine everyone my age loved it as it transported us back to a time long forgotten aka the 80s and 90's and not just the fantastic backing track but the whole feel, fashion, decor and even language.
It follows the evolution of personal computing from the original PC through home computers, the internet, browsers, search engines, ISP, antivirus and even the open world games philosophy. And this fantastic and instructive but the beauty of HaCF is in the interaction between the characters and their own evolution. A mass of scenes not necessary to the narrative but essential to make us aware and understand the humanity that is always behind everything in our world. This series demonstrated that life is in the detail and failing is what makes us human..

To dramatize technological innovations is no small feat. When the show is good it is often very good, but when it is bad it is awful. The character of Cameron is especially problematic. An immature, emotional basket case one scene, a bold, rebellious innovator the next, we're never sure which Cameron we'll get. The problem is not the actress but the way the character is written. Lee Pace, as Joe, anchors the proceedings as best he can. Bishe and McNairy lend strong support to help keep things afloat. While the show is as frustrating as it is rewarding, panning for the gold tends to pay off, eventually. Expand

What would seem like one of the world's dullest dinner conversations has grown into four seasons of compelling docudrama. Halt and Catch Fire is wonderful.

There are aspects of this show that I love. Mackenzie Davis and Lee Pace are great actors in engaging roles. The backdrop for this story is fascinating. Courtney Love, etc. There's some great dialogue. Scoot McNairy makes a sympathetic Gordon Clark. Some of the secondary characters are fun, such as Toby Huss as John Bossworth, among others. But there are glaring weaknesses that keep HaCF from reaching its potential. Conceptually, not enough happens. The showrunners are playing way too coy with Cameron and Joe. That frustrates the viewer. It becomes annoying that they can't move forward. Another big problem is that Kerry Bishé as Donna Clark is woefully miscast, and there are scenes where her performance makes me cringe. She plays Donna as tight as a drum, and I don't believe a second of it. So why am I still hooked? I watch because I want to know what happens to Cameron Howe and Joe MacMillan. They are not only compelling characters but, they are the show. Too bad the writers appear afraid to let go of their reins. Expand

This show started off with excitement and awe. As the show went on my interest continued, but towards the 3rd and 4th season I found myself getting bored. Also it's not a very clean show, it promotes drug use, homosexuality, adultery, and other things as well. I'd recommend just watching seasons 1 and 2.

It took me 6 years to get around to watching Halt and Catch Fire. One of the reasons was that professional critics were so detached and incompetent in their reviews that I just intellectually separated from the opportunity. I knew it was an excellent series - but, I wanted to be removed from the stupidity of the entertainment industry before I watched it.

Halt and catch fire is the intersection of excellent writing and excellent acting. It is an amazing piece of work.

Now, four years after the last episode I see the professional critics somehow morphed from a 6.2 rating for the first season to a 9.6 rating for the forth season. The stupidity and incompetence of professional critics is beyond my comprehension.

The show's theme is good and at most first 2 seasons are watchable. By end of that I got frustrated with all the turn off drama. Maybe what the show needs is to follow the route of Fargo and change some/all characters every season. Then the characters don't become vehicles to present drama and meaningful story can be written for them.

Season four of Halt and Catch Fire takes everything that had built up in the show to that point and provides viewers with one of the best final seasons of a show I've ever seen. All of the characters are reaching the end of their storylines in what feels like a very natural way, and the show feels as grounded in reality as ever. This is truly a hidden gem of a show.

Complicated characters, good story. Season 3 was amazing, Season 4 was a bit disappointing. Soundtrack is a good fit, all 4 Main characters are sometimes likeable, sometimes stupid, sometimes they are all a... That makes them feel real. Joe is a great characters, the female characters could be more complex.

Halt and Catch Fire has officially shifted into the early 1990s, exploring the days when the internet was still being invented and, in the process, cementing its place as one of the most confident shows on television. ... Like its four protagonists, it is damn good at what it does. If you don’t take the time to appreciate it while it’s still here, you might regret it.

It’s one of the best made series on TV, in terms of writing, performance, and direction, but it rarely bothers with anything that would immediately call attention to itself.

Halt and Catch Fire succeeds by making its tech narrative not a dry history lesson, but rather a battle of wills between four very flawed, compelling characters, each possessed of the kinds of manic ambition and tendency toward self-destruction that make for the best television drama.
