Season 1 Review:
While the story is initially fascinating and there are a few colorful characters sprinkled throughout, we often get lost in the weeds as the narrative swings this way and that, and the entire project feels a little too contrived and gimmicky, and populated with interview subjects who aren’t nearly as interesting as they fancy themselves to be.

Season 1 Review:
To traipse through all of the sex-cult allegations, Vatican baby-theft worries, and more sex-cult allegations just to end up where we first started is annoying to say the least. This isn’t to say that Gunther’s Millions is a waste of time, more that it prioritizes an experience it doesn’t deliver on—the crown jewel of true crime media: the ultimate “gotcha!” moment—instead of focusing on the ones it does.

Season 1 Review:
In this genre, earning the “weird” label can be half the battle, and “Gunther’s Millions” certainly qualifies. Still, the docuseries actually operates on various levels, and while its canine star (currently Gunther VI, incidentally) appears to be a good boy, the coverage surrounding him is evidence of how the media can go to the dogs in more ways than one.
