very high production quality, esp. cinematography. There is some serious money behind this. Acting is also top notch. The editing of scenes is excellent, switching seemlessly between action scenes and commentary. Superior to anything I'vevery high production quality, esp. cinematography. Superior to anything I've seen on historical docudramas.
My only -very minor- gripe is some of the romanticizing and superficial account of Grant's ideas about abolition and personal life. In the first episode, at least, it feels the show pushes its own views on Grant's stance without many clear and objective accounts from his personal correspondance for instance. However, in this day and age of instant gratification, lack of reading/culture and passive attitudes towards information, this will do I guess.… Expand
