It is painfully obvious that the subtle genius of irreplaceable Terry Pratchett is absent in this season of Good Omens. What I respected in the book (and season 1 by extension) has been replaced by utter mediocrity. The book was broadly in line with Christian theology, teleology and eschatology. Now angels tell outright lies, demons show pity and neither can sense what humans really feel or think. There's only one, rather uninteresting, storyline, but now we have a lesbian love triangle providing Deus Ex Machina solutions to push the plot forward. Don't get me wrong - there's absolutely nothing wrong with moral ambiguity or so-called "woke" content, as long as the story is good and engaging.
It's almost as if someone needed to keep reins on Neil Gaiman and check his homework every now and then, to prevent this season from slipping into meme-fueled, diversity-box-ticking slog. Because everyone knows that THE KISS is more important than a well constructed mystery and interesting dialogues. Well, not for me it isn't. I'd give it zero but the duo Tennant-Sheen salvages one point.
Watch Season 1. Read the book. Avoid Season 2 like the plague it is.

It is bad. There is a lesbian side story that adds nothing to the plot. Just a woke side storyline with no actual value and bad acting. Bad writing overall with no point. Sad to see what they did to the story.

First series was good, from the book written by Neil Gaiman AND late great Terry Pratchett. Then S2 is out, and looks like the whole script came from fanfictions, memes and all type of craps from Twitter and other social networks. NG gathered them and this is the result. Mediocre. Plus nepotism at its best/worst as Davis Tennant's father-in-law and stepson got a role in the series.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first season of this TV show left me thoroughly impressed and entertained. The writing was brilliant, capturing the essence of Pratchet's humor perfectly. The actors' performances were outstanding, and their chemistry together was a delight to watch. Other cast members also delivered amazing performances. Unfortunately, the second season fell short, demonstrating that even the most brilliant actors can't compensate for an average and unengaging storyline. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. all the magic from season 1 removed, and replaced with rampant tokenism. everyone is some metric of "diversity" and now suddenly, because it had to be added to make the stockholders happy (you know the ones), the main characters, like everyone else in the show, are gay.

best part was an angel in a wheelchair. what a hoot. won't be back for season 3, IF somehow it happens.

I could not get passed the first episode. I am not anti gay or anti lgbt but this series seems to me to make a point to show as many gay scenes as they possibly can. And that is an issue for me as I kind of like the first season, the second is a wokefest

Continues to be a joy, extending the strengths of the first series by prominently featuring Tennant and Sheen. Snappily written, funny and played expertly by the cast. Nobody can replace Terry Pratchett but the writing partnership of Neil Gaiman and John Finnemore has borne a new and wonderful fruit of its own.

Season 2 is even better than Season 1, but please note that Episode 1 is the weakest of the bunch, so stick around for Episode 2, which is one of the strongest of the new season. Absolutely astounding. Neil Gaiman and John Finnemore are a match made in heaven (probably because Terry Pratchett is up there himself). An all star cast heightened by the amazing job done behind the scenes. The best series of anything I have seen in a long time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Brilliant!! Watching the relationship and characters evolve was a rich treat. We need season three to develop those relationships, not least of course the main one, Crowley and Azeraphale. Watching Crowley’s warm and loving strength, as his barriers came down, because love was softening his hard edges, could be a study in human relationships in pure form and one we could all learn from. He’s an Angel at heart but not prepared to conform to the authoritarian collective; we see him and love him for it ❤️❤️
Aziraphale is adorable and loving, and wide eyed to hope and possibilities, he’s pure of heart, and he showed his strength and wisdom. Unfortunately in helping heaven he has hurt the love of his life, but he knows how to fix it (with some ineffable confusion and mishap on the way), I just hope Crowley approves

Been patiently waiting for this since I finished Season 1, this season delves a whole lot deeper than that and then some. We truly see how good isn't always good and bad isn't always bad. There is emotion throughout. If I could have added anything, it would have been a deeper dive into Nina and that's it.

Cleverly funny with good throwbacks from the last season.
A gentle and romantic series entwined with a mystery that leaves you wanting more. Eagerly awaiting next season.

Really amazing season. Though the plot wasn't quite as tight as the first season. The flashbacks were the best parts as usual, but they didn't really relate much to the main plot. Ignore the homophobes complaining about the main romance though. It was ALWAYS a love story. Anyone who didn't pick up on that immediately was just blinded by their bigotry. Horribly bland, no plot. Nothing like the 1st season. Like watching bad fanfiction. Everyone acts like an idiot, and what humor there was fell flat. Don't bother.

For season two there is no more book to dramatise, so the makers are free to play to series one’s strengths. Good Omens 2 is more the Tennant and Sheen Show than ever. .... The significance and mechanics of the story remain unclear as Hamm, previously one of the strongest supporting characters, now has to do his best with a basic affable-ignoramus role.

Good Omens series two is immersive, inventive and unlike anything else on TV. But in comparison to the first, this tells a sluggish and exasperatingly thin story. But perhaps expecting Gaiman to pull off the marvel of the first is asking too much.
